I went to Blydenburg today for my first ever freshwater fishing experience. I got some bites but didn’t catch anything. I come on your channel for ideas. You made my saltwater experiences awesome. Thank you
Jerry. It’s great to see your excitement with catching these perch. It’s fun fishing light tackle- everything feels like a marlin! Keep the videos coming.
I call that method “worm-powerbaiting” make it look like a flopping squid on your hook with 2-3 worms. No fish can resist that smell/taste. Thanks for the video and congrats on the massive catch!
Hi Fabian! thanks! the perch fishing turned into bass fishing after the first few, they behaved different then the smaller schooling big ones 10-12" fish i noticed, the seemed solitary on drops and weeds much like large or smallmouths. even the regular perches are the best! thanks always Fabian!
Ha! It actually is pretty darn close, the spread is actually 8.5 i give you a 1/2 inch, the room is eyeballed - do note the pliers and the plano in the backround for reference but in the end i say like you NICE PERCH FOR SURE and thats my true measurement, no arguing that!
Hi Jerry, They were huge White Perch. I've never saw a Perch come close to the size of the ones you caught. You were really excited and you should be. That was a fantastic day fishing. Those European Crawlers were the perfect bait. I went surf fishing this morning and caught two Jack Cravalles. They fight like mad Blue Fish. So far, this year has been great for you, both in salt and fresh water. Good luck and have fun, Mickey
Thanks Mickey! The european crawlers are just super I enjoy fishing with them sky is the limit it really is when you use them for bait. i may be the only person on the planet that fishes them at least in these parts, its awesome! That jack sounds awesome! i had some little ones here and there here but nothing like those FL one! Thanks always Mickey!
Just catching up on all your videos Jerry (Hey...I've been busy fishing for a change 😊) Great stuff...monster perch...and not just one! Almost look like a white bass...with its stripes erased 😄. A friend got me to try using a Strike King micro spinnerbait for white perch and smallmouth...great inexpensive lure. Note the "micro" and the "minnie" are the same size and weight, but the micro has a smaller hook that even a sunfish can grab. Don't know if it would catch the big ones like your worm ball, but it's a fun lure for the shallows...and we can never have too many lures. Be well sir, and thanks for all the great footage here
Thanks Frank! it was amazing! i could not believe the sequence and I had to go back and with similar results! i love fishing those baits and trying new things but i tell ya Frank when I get going with the worm fishing it is hard to match! i do keep my mind open and bring lots of stuff, i had a mini spinner bait i keep with me it did not cross my mind till now so it is ready to go! I just love the mystery of the worm they are full of surprises when you fish em that keeps me on the hook like a worm! Thanks always Frank!
Wow those perch are big, I caught one really big one once on the island in a south shore spillway. But I wasn’t catching football size perch one after another like that. Usual once you catch one you catch a bunch of those guys but for all of them to be monsters like that is funny. Congrats on your record👍
Thanks Jim yea LI has some good perch fishing thats what really intrigued me was the consistency of the bigger perch, and their behavior they acted much like the basses tight on the structure and spread out. I was fishing a plastic worm first, missed one on that, first i thought it was a bass then these guys came up, thanks always!
I am sure a few were over 18! pretty broad fish i believe one or two may certainly have been! But in the end I am happy with knowing myself they are an "extraordinary catch!" Thanks always David!
WB ressy has perch like that all day long. Early to mid October they school up. Find a school and it’s like diamond jig 2 pound plus perch again and again.!!!
Hi Bill! Wow! A few of these are in there and I think a few past! Incredible! what was exciting was breaking my own records one after the other, i never had a fishing day as such, thanks always!
they are my goto jeffrey, catch anything and not only that they show you what is going on in a system of water. lures tend to be specific for situation species etc but a study and a great fish WORMS are the way to go!
Wow! That first fish looked like a hybrid striper, it was such a big white perch! World class indeed. NYS record is 3.06 lbs. World record is 3 lbs. 8 oz. (Google search...) I'm sure a few were right around or just under that 3 lb. weight. Nice going! I caught a 2lb. yellow perch on a tube jig many years ago and was amazed. Got to get yourself a digital scale, would drive me crazy not knowing for sure. Tight lines!
Thanks Teresa! I know they were up there bell ringers!!! That is a big yellow you had! They remind me of colorful walleye when they get that big! thanks for sharing! I just like fishing, the photos here make me content but thats just me

Spectacular! Jerry I’ve caught many but never had any close to that size beautiful fish close cousin to the Striped Bass how can you not love them

The kind you read about in perch magazine....
Be Something different thats for sure. Must be a million million bass periodicals all same just different words
Those are impressive catches. If you are going to claim they are world record fishes though, you should have a tape measure and a scale handy.
thanks and good point
The IGFA world record is 3 pounds 8 ounces caught in Massachusetts.
Right in there! Thanks Sharon!
Or a law stick its a foldind mesuring stick it tells you the sizes of the different fish
