I think that, when the fast 230 part kicks in after the intro, the 30 is actually played as a pull off, but i'm not sure. I think its kind of easier to play it that way.
Yes, the whole Show no Mercy album is pretty technical, considering they were like 18 or 19 when they recorded it. There are some pretty fast and odd time signature licks in the songs. This became even more pronounced with Hell Awaits, but after that, I think they just went for an even faster, thrashy and unmelodic sound, before eventually settling down with Seasons. Either way, their early repertoire is the best sounding, imo.
Yeah Show No Mercy is a really good album, but if you actually play through all the riffs you notice how much of that is influenced by other heavy metal bands. I guess they wanted to develop a more original sound, and that eventually arrived with Reign In Blood. And South of heaven, and Seasons. Then came Divine Intervention, and I seem to be one of the few that likes that album hehe... which I want to get to later this year, but we'll see how things develop.
Don't get me wrong, I love all Slayer releases, even Repentless has a few moments now and there. But i guess I'm into more of a heavy/speed type of metal, than the classic thrash sound on Reign in Blood, I listened to over and over again. There's something about that Iron Maiden/Judas Priest influence on their first release that made it so memorable for me. Anyway, keep rocking and making these lessons! Much appreciated!
Hey man! Please can you do the solo for this song ❤ you are the best teacher ever! You did the ‘You Against You’ solo perfectly too! Please if you can do this solo it would be amazing
thanks, the thing is that I need 24 frets for the Tormentor solo, and I don't really want to buy more guitars right now. (Well, I want to, but...) But I'll see if I can figure something out.
Like your lessons on slayer songs! So cool

Good point. Yes, it will make this riff easier to play. Although they don't always play their riffs the easy way :)

Of course, everyone has preferences, nothing wrong with that!

not at the moment, it needs a 24 fret guitar!
metaldude where are the tabs from
Pls tell me where the tab is from
It's my own tab
Then could you put the solo tab in the description?
nah I'm not totally done with the solo tab yet, but I'll be eventually uploading all the tabs to my Patreon page
metaldude K man no worries 😉
That second part of the intro is so fast on recording can get it
I think now they're doing pull-offs 3-0 on the A string, makes things easier
