Best description of this movie I've heard: "A shit-encrusted diamond." Parts of it are garbage, other parts are sublime.
He's also known to transcend Superman, the man of steel's power 💪. While Superman can spin the Earth and turn the clock backwards, the Silver Surfer can wipe out an entire galaxy with a black hole.
You think so? He looks like the outdated visual effects of Terminator 2. The surfboard too. I guess they were going for a liquid metal appearance.

Nearly 20 years later and the effects for Silver Surfer still look incredible. We really took this movie for granted

I always thought the Silver Surfer was really, really well done in this film. He looked amazing, even de-powered here, and Doug Jone's performance was pitch perfect, right down to all his subtle reactions and mannerisms. Man, I hope the Surfer makes it into the MCU soon; his story has all the potential to be a phenom!

Alright... these movies are fantastic (no pun intended). Cheesy? Yes. Bad dialouge? Oh yeah. An accurate representation of the comics and the dynamic the characters share? Perfection. Even the VFX work on Silver Surfer aged well, he looks great imo

It depends on the Canon in quite a few versions written by what I admit and s***** writers. The board is a source of his powers. They should have just had Doctor Doom block cosmic energy you do that silver surfers instantly made powerless. He's got no storage mechanism no Cosmic battery. He's like a lamp you unplug him he hits the ground. I always thought it was a deliberate weakness that Galactus built in so he could bepower him if he had to.

The Surfer speaks of "the one I love." This refers to Shalla-Bal, who (in the comics) was Norrin Radd's girlfriend before he became the Silver Surfer.

This movie was alright and fun action and dialogue plus they got the characterizations of Ben Grimm's The Thing and Johnny Storm exactly right but this movie KILLED IT WITH SILVER SURFER. Laurence Fishburne's voice acting and the visual effects for Silver Surfer and The Fantastic 4 powers were DOPE despite the bad plots and ok acting.

It's amazing how Iron Man came out less than one year after this movie and it's so much better lol. Really wish F4 could've received the love and passion that Iron Man did. Hopefully we finally get a good adaption now that they are part of the MCU!

There were more scenes with him in some form of a suit in that movie than any of the other movies with Iron Man. In many ways it looked better than many marvel movies that come out now.

@@360.Tapestry firstly it was 2007. secondly with cgi, humanoid faces and anatomy are the most noticeable when not realistic. even our modern cgi has these problems sometimes, for instance the end credits scene in spiderman:no way home where he swings in the snow with his new suit, it’s pretty obvious it’s cgi, something about his movement just doesn’t seem right and natural.

Well, that's a illogical observation, considering the reason why Kang (or whatever his name is) was able to control the MCU multiverse because he also had a smoke monster. It's funny to me how this smoke monster is considered ridiculous in the Fantastic 4 movie, but it's cool in the Loki series. It shows how people are conditioned to like everything about the MCU

I understand superheroes in general are kid friendly, there's levity and etc.. but to completely undermine 10+ years of development in favor of a black Jack Sparrow who controls existence with a smoke monster? And later, in that "what if" series, the MCU undermines Thanos even more. It's the Dragon Ball effect, escalation issues, nothing that happened before or after will have any relevance

the director is at fault...people got mad that a mexican played a white hero so she bleached her skin i believe had wigs and dyed hair got contacts to look more like the comic book sue..that makes acting much harder and limits what you can do in action scenes...she had far less to deal with in movie 1

This movie should have been a two parter. The first that builds up the coming of galactus and a series of heralds that they face. The second one would deal with galactus himself.
Except that Galactus has only one herald, even if it's not always the same.
@@geraltofrivia9424 Well that can be amended. It's not really an integral part of what makes Galactus. You can change things for the sake of the plot so long as the core fundamentals of the character are nor compromised.
I felt that it should have been 2 parts as well. The first would have dealt solely with the Silver Surfer heralding the arrival of Galactus and the Fantastic Four's efforts to stop him. I would have incorporated Alicia Masters and her role in helping the Surfer tap into his humanity. The first part would have ended with the Surfer exclaiming, "It's too late. He has arrived! Behold, Galactus, Devourer of Worlds!"
The second part would have dealt with the Surfer trying to reason with Galactus while the Fantastic Four, at the behest of either The Watcher or The Silver Surfer himself, attempting to find the one thing in all the universe that even Galactus fears, the Ultimate Nullifier. This would have been the first act of the movie. The second act would be the Fantastic Four, Doom, and Earth's forces trying to fend off Galactus' drones, etc. The Surfer's appeal having failed, he would take up arms against Galactus himself with the Fantastic Four, etc. before Johnny shows up with the Ultimate Nullifier and Reed forces his bargain on Galactus.
Of course, i would end with Galactus' departure and the Surfer's punishment.
Compared to the 2015 train wreck reboot this and the previous movie are masterpieces.
