Bro, I am also a pilot of small agricultural aviation, I constantly work with Garmin. Almost all of these devices have a small battery inside, an analogue of BIOS on a computer. This is three volts, silver / zinc, diameter 15mm. Look in the network or in the manual where it is located and change it, as a rule, all problems are because of this
65% humidity? I wish! In 2021 I retired from Melbourne to my wife's family rural village at the West end of Java. Last year's rainfall was 4,600mm. The average humidity for last year was 90%, with a minimum of 45%. A few months had an average humidity of 95%. I haven't seen a temperature over 36C. But the feels like has exceeded 53C. Without access to air conditioning I would be miserable. But, it could be worse. A friend was in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for work a few years ago. He said he had to re-calibrate what he thought was hot. He experienced 49C, with a feels like of 58C. He said it was so humid that, when he stepped out of an air conditioned building, he was instantly saturated by the moisture condensing out of the air onto his clothing, which was below the dew point. That was a revelation for me, as I had just assumed KSA would be arid. At the other extreme, I was in Michigan for work in February 1995. It was -23C. Colleagues also there, from Fort Saskatchewan, in Alberta, said "This is quite balmy really. We're used to 40 below." Colleagues visiting Thailand during a 19C cold snap reported that locals feared for their lives. Most people had no clothing to deal with such cold weather. The same would be true where I now live. At 24C the local complain that it is cold. Shorts and T shirt year round here.
I usually work on it being about 95kts below 6000ft with the cowl flaps open. Close them up a over 6000 and it'll get the extra 3-5kts and not overheat.
Garmin probably squeezing the profits before the Low earth orbit navigation satellite systems (LEO-PNT) are established. Xona is due to launch one system satellite before the end of 2025 (after having trial satellites in orbit for a few years). GMV (ESA) also has plans for one satellite before the end of 2025. Is there a low cost fairly robust wireless/ wired rain gauge that could be hooked into the camera/ data system?, that could send rainfall data back to HQ from a few water points?
Garmin have always been so bad with their sub charges. When you get into the aviation side of Garmin it has always been stupid expensive because their main market is commercial aviation so they screw everyone
Enjoyable video Jack great to see your station from the air what a view thanks mate 👍
Am envious of you Jack, I've always wanted to fly but my medical history rules out the possibility of soloing, watching you is as close as it gets.
Quite a bit of glare from the Starlink on the front glass.. does it distract you? Great flight., butter landing!!!
Cinematography, music, just, everything. Amazing. Much love and support from WV in the U.S.
Good to see you got the inreach. It's not starlink, but they do what they're designed to do.
I can only imagine the flying as being one of the joys of the job. Subscriptions: Actung - you vill own nussink und be happy!
