- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

The long "plant" you saw on the beach is giant kelp, which makes up the trees of the Pacific kelp forests. They can get over 100 feet tall. GREAT video - thank you.
They make pickles out of it.
@@nanvolentine9110 Ya, Tako from OutdoorChefLife did a few videos making pickled kelp rings and promoted a company out there marketing them as well.
There is an extract from kelp that is called agar agar. It is used in ice cream to make it smooth and reduce the formation of ice crystals. It is also used as a medium for growing bacterial cultures in the lab.
Thank you! I wondered what that was.
algae "ally", not a plant at all, tho they do "root"... in fact, at the thin end there is almost always a rock attached.
Yes, interesting walk with you again. I have been disabled (lung cancer) for many years now, enjoy spending time on your vlogs. I love nature and this is the only way I can partake in her now. This iPad has been a blessing. Again thank you God bless you, you seem to be such a good man.
You don't have to justify your choices to anybody. They are your choices to make and you have good reason to make them. You do you mate. It doesn't matter what strangers in the comments think. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Coast to coast with Post and Ghost!
👏
What a cool video thanks!
Tom Scott did a video on a costal town in the uk being reclaimed by the ocean bit by bit and how nothing is being done about it simply because there’s no need to do anything about it. (If I remember correctly) I think no one really lives there anymore.
Only mentioning it because you might like the video as it’s very similar to what’s happening with this house.
The video is titled “no-one is going to save covenhithe”
What a cool adventure! I enjoy these abandoned buildings/properties you've taken us along to see. I hope you enjoyed you'd trip out west. You certainly made a lot of stops and made sure to visit some amazing places. Thanks Post10! 😊🌻 Be safe and stay warm.
In case you're wondering Post, that particular moss is called "Old man's beard" it grows everywhere, but in the northwest it has abundant water to grow thick and full like that. It's a terrific firestarting moss, but not from there as it's just packed with water lol.
Early 1900s photos of that beach shows a natural arch, and subsequent pictures shows the erosion of the arch to its disappearance. Thanks again post 10
Thanks post 10. I love the history. Gravel beach, Nye beach. After a search, that concrete slab was the base for condominiums built in the 80s. The same website, shows 2 people on the slab as it was intact. I really like your abandoned stuff and the history as well.
That scene at the end where the waves were chasing you in made me realize how much I miss being near the ocean.
I live in the Pacific Northwest too. My family and I moved from southern California when I was 14 years old. I am now in my early 60's. What a wonderful place to live. I enjoyed seeing you at our coast line. I sure would love to have met you.
Hi Post.
Seeing your innocence of first encounter and quest to find out more about the kelp, made me realize that we that grew up with it now take it for granted.
I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
Where I'm from in the UK the coastal erosion is so bad that entire villages have been lost to the sea. You used to be able look at Google Earth with the road overlay switched on, and could see roads that go out into the sea because the satellite layer had been updated, but the road layer had not.
Thank you for the trip back home. I live in Florida but I'm from Oregon. This video made me happy and sad at the same time.🙂😌
Growing up in so cal. The beaches up north are so fascinating to me. I can watch this content for hours. Thanks for sharing
I'm the invisible man, see right through me! Me listening to Queen thinking they knew my life 😔, Big up post 10, I'll be watching this vid when I'm sober. Keep doing what you doing bro 🤘
🍻
Awesome stuff! The power of water shows it’s powerful hand once again!
I never seen the Pacific Ocean but thanks to you I feel like I was there. Thank you for another amazing field trip. When you broke the tube seaweed it sounded like a "pop."
Thank you for sharing part of your day with us. Much appreciated. Merry 🎄 Christmas 🎄
Post, thanks for another adventure out west! It was nice to see the Pacific ocean. I doubt I will see it in person. Ocean view and a pool $45 awesome. I doubt you went swimming and no sun to get a tan. Showing off to Ghost at the end with the kelp.:-)
The room was okay but you get what you pay for, it had an indoor pool that was heated but not heated enough to stay in there for very long Plus it was on the cool side outside and they had a giant blower fan going in the pool room which made it almost unusable
Great video! Wonderful adventure! Thanks for taking us along. 😎🎄❤
The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places ever!
Love Oregon! Used to work at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City. Most beautiful coast in the world!
Me to and my twin sister was in security. I was at the hotel.
Amazing. That tide comes in quickly on a quiet day. Thanks for posting. Best Wishes Pete
I would be really surprised if people still live in those buildings near the washed-out site! Great exploring with you Post10 😎👍
Thanks for another west coast video. Wish could see a photo of whatever it looked like before
Something funny is that Oregon’s coastline beaches are considered Highways thanks to an old 1910s law. By that definition, it’s considered public land, for one thing, but the other is that the state’s highway maintenance bureaus have to be called if something… rather unusual (by locals standards) appears on shore. So oil spills? Call the highway cleanup teams! I’ll just tell you to watch The Fat Electrician’s latest video for an awesome story.
We have the same challenge here, especially during the King Tides. One condo complex had 100 feet of dunes between it and the ocean and they lost 80 feet in one season. They keep trying to reinforce the area so the buildings don't end up in the water.
Random thing to note; so much spray paint yet, no cans. That’s actually nice to see.
Cans around 14mins :(
@@hydroxyl5130 The people who dropped those spray cans will be the same people protesting to save the planet.
I live in Seattle and there is nothing like the Pacific NW 🥰
I supspect that the more expensive hotels are not teetering off of a cliff! Great video thank you!
P.S. Those holes in the sand were probably made by sand fleas.
Thanks for the background info. Was always worried you would get sucked into some drain. Lol
Post 10, thanks for the lovely trip to the pacific coast. Always enjoyable traveling with you!
Nice video. It shows how the earth is reclaiming itself.
Such a great adventure. Everyone needs to do what you did in this series of videos. I did in the mid seventies using the southern route. Very interesting saga through west Texas New Mexico Arizona and California desert. It was amazing taking back roads , talking to locals . Seeing things tourist don’t see. I appreciate your posts. I live vicariously through you. Thanks!
The sea is very powerful it's eating up the coast line. Very scary to live near the sea. Great and informing video, thank you❤️
It would be interesting if you could find a Before Picture of that place ! Great video as Always ✌️
Beautiful Sunset!
Thank you Post! Pretty cool getting to see the freshly exposed layers of sand and how much got swept out from under that old building
My favorite part of this video was you goofing off at the end. You are one of my favorite channels.
Thank you for another interesting adventure! Your wonder and knowledge make your channel so worthwhile. 👍🏼😊
Newport, OR is a nice place. As I saw you were at Nye Beach, did you get a chance to eat at Cafe Stephanie? They serve awesome breakfasts, particularly the Corn Beef Hash and Marionberry Crepes. Yum! Oregon is a great state to live in. I hope you had a great time on your trip.
It's gorgeous on the west coast!
You should check out Big Sur in California, there was a massive landslide a couple years back. I don’t know if they’ve got it totally rebuilt. The north end starts at Monterey Bay and there’s quite a few cool things like what’re exploring in this video. If you want to see cool stuff in Tide Pools, you’ll need to head south to warmer waters near LA and San Diego. Awesomely cool stuff to see.
Or north toward Tofino, BC. Canada. Probably Washington too (near there). The rock tide pools are packed with all kinds of beautifully coloured creatures.
❤️❤️❤️ yes Monterey!
It's probably rebuilt now
The highway was rebuilt in a little less than 2 years with a huge amount of digging and moving rock.
Santa Cruz just lost a pier to a major storm, same area so should be stuff to see
I never thought I would live to see the day but you have finally managed to go somewhere in your exploring that I have absolutely no desire to visit. All those slabs of concrete hanging there and the badly eroded cliff, the buildings ready to fall into the sea and that terrible trail you had to take to get out of there...all of those things make me very happy that I can just sit this one out. I know you made it out safely but that place just looked so forbidding that it did not appeal to me at all; however, I have a great deal of respect for you because you were able to see the beauty of even a place like this. Just be careful!
I absolutely LOVE getting out and about with you! The dreary day the made the whole place look a little creepy!
Another great adventure doing nothing but exploring and those shots on camera OMG . Yes you cant stop the weather and that damage done is scary indeed .
Fantastic video and explaining a lot and that sea weed OMG.
Good job exploring thanks for sharing
This was a great video, thank you for uploading!
Awesome video. I was there 15+ years ago... a lot different today!
Really Nice Video From The Oregon Cost in December 2022
Post, you've just now learned the value of carrying a roll of surveyor's tape with you. A little pink or green or orange strip of plastic, and you'll never get lost. And you can pick it up behind you so as to not litter...
Hey! You were near my home! You must have been traveling up the coast hwy 101! I’m glad you made it to Newport Oregon! That abandoned building is at Jump off Joe! I hope you were careful going down that trail. There used to be a major drug homeless camp there. They drudged it out and removed so much garbage , drug paraphernalia and needles 💉! I’m sure there’s more druggies camping there at times. Any way, welcome to the Oregon coast! I wish I knew what date you were here.
To cause this sort of erosion, the bottom of the hill facing the ocean washed away, and the entire hillside just slid down in once big piece, leaving a crevasse at the top that the floor fell into.
Thank you.
Dayum bro you're on a roll with some great videos !
Great Video Post enjoy Oregon!
This looks like something you'd find in the post apocalypse.
Also, shout out to that one cat at the beginning.
awesome video! I've never seen that kelp stuff before either...interesting
Beautiful coastline! You might like to visit Utah ~ a lot of old settlers houses made of stone and generally beautiful red rock cliffs, with layers of geological history and green forest
The hotel would be $90 a night but with that erosion, you’ll only be there for half a night so, $45 it is!
This is so cool! I’ve been to Newport and I stood on the opposite side of the ruins that you filmed on.
Isn't the Oregon coast gorgeous?!! Wild and untamed.
Love Oregon coast!
I was literally just watching a Post 10 video and saw this new upload! Love the cross country adventures
Further north on the coast near Tillamook there was an entire resort community (Bayocean) from the first half of the 20th century that washed away. There's also towns on the Washington coast that are washing away too.
My friend Mike and I once cleaned off an entire gooseberry bush (Ribes hirtellum) of its berries, but until today I never knew there was a sea gooseberry (Pleurobrachia pileus). I wouldn't recommend eating this one, but the other kind is great. Well, in moderation!
I've made jam out of goose berries that we ordered from UK, it's a strange white berry, reminded me of small grape..we did Sal al, Never knew they were edible...but black & red huckberries blackberries elder berries plentiful on oregon coast, wild strawberries produce if a bird eats seeds and poops it
The best gooseberry is the purple gooseberry, less tart, more flavour - if you’re a gardener, I recommend this variety wholeheartedly. They are self fertile, and the fruits are abundant and sweet, so can be eaten raw without complaint.
The reason you may not see them often in the US is the same reason as to why blackcurrants were banned there... white pine disease. I read they relaxed the ban in some areas now though... but that’s something you can google 😊
I hope this was interesting, you all have a good day 😄
🕊🇬🇧
@@thescarlettbandit5542 Interesting, I wondered why blackcurrant jam was so hard to find! I swear it used to be available.
Hey Post, Merry Christmas! How long was your road trip in total? Lots of amazing videos. Merry Christmas also to all the Post fans out there, and happy Hanukkah too.
There are videos online about Pacifica that has had terrible erosion, whole buildings have been demolished and the ones you now see used to be 5 miles from the shoreline.
We got ripped off...no spider friends.... Lol! Lol!!!
Nice bit of color on that sunset and the shine on the boot tips
Great view of the beach Post, enjoy it.
Thank you...I love the ocean 🌊❤️
Site is called Jump Off Joe's in Newport Oregon. A sandstone arch formation stood, until earthquake in 1993. It's eroded more.
That video was fantastic man, you should go to the beach more often
That was fun and interesting. Thanks Post 10.
Building is certainly abandoned - cannot control nature and its fury. Although a dangerous location now it is awesome to see the soil differences. Beautiful scenes - love the sea.
Slump erosion, there was probably not water up on top, the land gave way and slid toward the beach in a big chunk. Gravity and the underlying weak point or layer will probably slowly pull this down until the ocean eats it away.
the plant is Giant kelp,.it grows in "kelp forest" underwater at a rate of up to 2ft a day... some reaching a height of 175ft tall
That grove of bushes probably has lots of big spider friends!!!
Very interesting... a little scarey. That ocean tide... yikes! I've read about Rouge waves that just come in... unannounced.
I loved this video, you are really knowledgeable and interesting and fun to explore with! Great channel, great content.
Super cool video. I love geology.
Poor building. Looks like the wave just smashed it apart. Beautiful ocean. Pretty.
You show sooo much more than I would ever see or notice.
Thanks again 🤗👍💙😊
Always wanting more.
Hey, I'm in Oregon too :D
Near the end, that shore looked fit to be tide. Then in the next scene, Post 10 appeared kelpless until he noticed their "holiness".
The cliffs and bluffs along much of the west coast of Turtle Island (North America) are former beaches, laid there when the sea levels where higher and/or the entire region was uplifted (in case you were wondering why they're so sandy and unstable)
That snake-like plant next to the tide pool, was Giant Kelp.
I've seen lots of it, grew up in the Monterey Bay Area.
Welcome to the left coast, my friend....
Yes, I grew up playing with that kelp. Can’t believe I didn’t care about touching it back then. Lol. From WA state
That's one big beaver pond!
17:57
Rockin', rockin', and rollin'
Down to the beach, I'm strollin'
But the seagulls poke at my head, not fun!
I said, "Seagulls, mm! Stop it now!"
Everyone told me not to stroll on that beach
Said, "Seagulls gonna come, poke me in the coconut"
And they did, and they did and they goin' like
Nothin' I could do but yell when these birds attacked me
When I tried to run I fell, and then these kids start laughin'
And then, hmm, got hit in the neck with a hacky-sack
Mm-hm, hm-hm where'd it come from? Hmm
"Ooh, a cat!" 🤣
Absolutely loved this video amazing work as ever post 10
Post, the rock you picked up is called a leave it rock, just leave it right where you found it.🙂 Great videos.
They’re called leaverides…. Leave er ride there.
This looks ominous af at 18:19 like it’s suburb by the edge of the world😮
Nye Beach in Newport...... been there many times
Cool video I really enjoyed this one Post 10 and ghost 👻 can't wait for the next adventure
That huge dead tree near the island during low tide is amazing. Imagine what that looks like up close. Looks massive even from far away.
Oregon coast gets Typhoon storms, fierce like a hurricane.
We have a home on coast, love it.
@17:43 “This pool is kinda shallow. We probably wouldn’t see any friends.” Good summary of life in Oregon.
As someone who lived there for 4 years, that is freaking hilarious and spot on.
