  • Nic Brown thought he was suffering from the flu, until he checked into the Cleveland Clinic and got some bad news. The doctor told him that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and shortly thereafter, he started to lose lung function and needed to be intubated. He spent three days in a medically-induced coma, and spent an additional seven days on a ventilator. Luckily, he came out on the other side alive. So, what does it feel like to be on a ventilator? We spoke with Nic Brown to find out. #InsideEdition

    I was put on the ventilator with Covid an double phnemonia. It was so very scary. I was under for 12 days an then had to fight to get my energy back.
    I could not communicate at all. I was paralyzed and kept under.
    When they started to wake me I could hear the nurses but couldn’t move. I thought I’d be like that forever. It’s being trapped in your self and can’t communicate at all. I still think about that a lot. I’m terrified of hospitals and definitely can not imagine having to be put under for anything Again. The nurses and doctors were amazing. I’m so grateful to them and Jesus for saving my life. I’m only 38 and have a 11 year old son.

    • @aaliyahvarona5409
      @aaliyahvarona5409 4 года назад +4

      dillydong Sure. So COVID-19 affected her lungs in a way which made them smaller. It basically destroyed her lung tissue, and this causes difficulties in breathing for her. So the doctor has given her some breathing exercises & medicine to help restore normal breathing. She’s also currently attached to a oxygen tank and walks with it everywhere. That’s lung therapy. Muscle therapy is simply exercises to help with normal muscle movement. She spent a month on a ventilator and in a coma and some of her limbs she can barely move. We took a lot of precautions before she was hospitalized. We wore masks, disinfected the entire house daily, quarantined, and only went out when it was necessary. It’s still the same precautions afterwards, only that she does not go out anymore. That’s the only change in the precautions. I am thinking that she caught the virus on a trip to the store.

    I was on the vent for 8 days due to covid, bacterial pneumonia and septicemia. It's been a year and a half now and I struggle daily w/ memory issues and cognitive problems. Then there is the nice dose of PTSD that came from it that can pop up at a mere though. The smell of hand sanitizer and things that sound like the IV beeping. I was out the whole time I was on the vent but was given fentanyl to keep me sedated. I had MAJOR nightmarish hallucinations from it and still struggle to know what was real and what wasn't when I first woke back up. All in all I was in hospital and rehab a total of 24 days. It was horrible and I don't even remember the weeks leading up to it because I was so sick.
    Having the tube removed was the single most painful thing I've ever had. I've had 2 back surgeries w intubation, 3 kids and 2 tooth abscesses prior.... NOTHING compares to that pain. My voice is still raspy and weaker than prior and it will never be normal again.

    • @cenotemirror
      @cenotemirror 4 года назад +13

      They kept him alive. A ventilator, IV fluids, heart monitor, etc. That’s all that can really be done right now with this virus... life support until your body either gets better on its own or dies.
      They know he’s cured when a test of his blood 3 days running shows no presence of the virus. Keep in mind he will not be fully recovered for a while, if ever. Lung scar tissue = reduced lung function, for life.
      9 years ago I was on a ventilator for a month after a nasty case of pneumonia. Words really fail to describe how awful it is. It was the worst experience of my life and I’ve been through a fair bit.

    A guy I know. Healthy guy, pretty built but went to the doctor cauze he felt a little sick. They said he had covid, put him on a ventilator and he died. Just shortly after they put him on it. Now why's that? Hm?
