​​@@naturethroughlens4245These are diesel-electric locomotives because they use traction motors. These engines convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. These wdm alco locos uses v16 type 16 cylinder 4 stroke diesel engines.
So they are not purely diesel locos in my opinion they use the engine to generate electricity for running the traction motors by their axels.
Diesel-hydraulic locos can be called pure diesel locomotives like the wds4 locos. Because they directly run through their mechanical energy provided by the engine through hydraulic methods.

I was also in this type of similar situation, it happened between khardah and Titagarh station ,owing to an OHE failure our EMU got stuck for 1 hour in night, then a diesel loco became our Savior.
Though journey was quite hectic with no light and fan.

Sir simply superb sir. In this video, WDM3D looks handsome for not only for his red colour but also musical sound while it pulls the weightless EMU without any strain. Treat to watch but I wish to say watch to treat for diesel alco lovers like us. diesel is future ? do u know emu train is more superior to any other train except maglev? diesel traIn with 24 coaches need atleast 10 min to reach a speed of 130kmph where as an emu local of mumbai built by icf can do 110kmph in around 1min .... so u call it superior ? emu train cost on india is 0 .where as diesel train needs to import oil and give money to useless arabs who treat indians very low. please see more train videos, learn about emu trainset...learn about train18 which is 10 times better than gatimann in speed with 40% cost to run gatimann

When I was 5 years old at 1995 I went to darjeeling frome sealdah darjeeling mail, and that time darjeeling mail ran with diesel engine that chugging of diesel engine and sound still my favorite..
