Horror Short Film “Wrong Number” | ALTER
/ watchalter
Wrong Number mimics the structure of a nightmare. A Woman wakes up in the middle of the night. She can't go back to sleep. A Man, her partner, tries to find what is wrong. She tells him she had a dream, and in that dream, she got a foreboding message about some horrible news. She can't remember what. She forces herself back to sleep.
In the next day, the Woman can't shake the feeling that something terrible is going to happen. During the night the Man comes back to the house. But when the woman wakes up, hours later, the man isn't there. Troubled by horrifying visions, she runs into the living room and finds something there, waiting for her. It may be the Man. It may not.
ALTER I loved this one I think the ones that are harder to comprehend are scarier than the ones that are easy to figure out anyway keep up the good work
Ayrissia Buckley what is that supposed to mean?
Totally agreed. Still Good and hard work.
Love your videos but this was just a waste of time. Nothing happens and nobody dials/receives the wrong number. Wish I could erase this from my memory
I'm with you I don't get it.
Would it have hurt to have just a little more lighting? JUST A LITTLE BIT
Lol I had to turn up my phone’s lighting- annoying!
Yes please, just a little.
yeah, the "lighting" was the problem with this..lol.
It would hurt the electricity bills 😕
@@IngridStPierre2 Oh we know 🤦🏾♀️ maybe better lighting would have provided clearer answers
Seems to me the beginning was her having a nightmare, that in reality was a premonition or warning of horrific bad news coming. Next morning he woke up to leave to what is implied is work. He has a look that can be seen as worry or fear of the unknown, he looks stressed. Perhaps of leaving her alone if something were to happen. Day passes by- she looks like she has moved passed it for the most part. She’s seen messaging him asking him about his shift or hours of work.
At night we see what appears to be him on the edge of the bed breathing heavily. Something isn’t right. Tension/lighting/music is eerie. They make love - blood drips. Interpretation is at this point he is already dead. Whether she imagined it, dreamt it or it was his spirit is unknown. Text/missed calls wake her- something to the extent of “I just heard ... I’m sorry...I’ll call in the morning...just wanted to say something.” And 3 missed calls from same texter- Claudia. She turns on the light and realizes she’s covered in blood- which can represent hearing the news and being immersed in fear/pain/chaos - covered in his own blood can represent bearing what his state is. It also can represent how he died- probably car or work related accident.
Walks into the other room - can be seen as facing the truth- seems to be the same thing that made love to her- husband is implied- but he shows himself differently- maybe as death- darkness- only a silhouette of life. Goes to embrace her- maybe to comfort her or her new reality.

But what does "Wrong Number" relates to?
This is kinda what ran thru my mind, I think this makes the most sense
@@mizlialia1476 Same question here! Is it a quiz, ALTER?? I do not like Quizzes; i like a good horror short, and this was NOT it!! 😞
Are we supposed to be able to read the messages on her phones? Because I can’t and I feel like I’m missing part of the story
She asked him what time does his shift end?....and his previous message before that one she sent said...he left his keys at home.
I had to put it on full screen and zoom it to fill in order to read the messages myself!..and had to watch it TWICE!😁😁
It says (something along the lines of): "I just saw the news I'm so so sorry, I'll call in the morning I just wanted to say something."
That is followed by 3 missed calls from the same person (Claudia).
No worries.....there was no story
same here
Yeah it must showing to us
This one "Altered" me into a state of confusion..

In case anyone is confused about the plot: A really skillful director who knows all about suspence and framing wanted to make a movie and forgot that it needed a plot.
I’m the only one that literally laughed out loud at this comment?! Ok then. I’ll carry on laughing even harder🤣
hahahahaha
@Shawn MC Maybe the plot was there, but it was too dark to see it😆😆
Omfg 🤣😂😂
She had a premonition that her husband was killed. Then it happened but his ghost came back.
So dark I watched myself in the reflection for 5 minutes. Nice short
You are so right!!! I couldn't see a thing. Do they do that intentionally so to cover up there is no plot/story/acting?
Alayssha M Hahahahahaha, I was thinking the same thing! Having to tilt my phone a million ways, just to see, what the hell was going on, only to keep seeing myself, in my damn hoodie!!! I think that was more scarier than the actual short!🤭😳✋🏻
But your comment.... #GOLD👌🏻💯😂🤣😆
Hahaha for rea, I was basically watching myself eat chips in the reflection for 5 minutes.
LOL! Same
😂
Okay guys after watching this for three times, I gathered all important infos about the film. First, after she sent her husband a text message saying "What time does your shift end?" and consequently erasing the message "Sorry for last night", the timestamp showed Tuesday on the phone. Thus, we conclude that she texted her husband on TUESDAY and that she dreamt that day of getting a serious phone call. That morning, her husband goes to work. We can assume that that is the day when her husband dies. The next scene is that she had sex with her husband covered in blood. I believe that this is only a dream or a metaphor of her missing her husband who is now dead. This is because when she looks at the phone, she sees Claudia's text saying she just heard the news and the date on the phone is SATURDAY already. I think the man is just a ghost of her husband.
Yes so basically the movie is shit
Yes, how sad 😔
A horny ghost 😊
My husband passed away in 2015..4 days before his death I got a bad dream like, most of my hair has fall off with bald on some areas and my grandma, mom and my mom's sisters are crying at me saying why this had happened to me..I couldn't understand what they are saying about. I said that dream to my husband and he said he too had a bad dream that morning..later after 4 days he passed away in an accident..during day times I'm more practical but in my dreams he is still alive and we both longing to live together..being an Indian 2nd marriage is not a common thing but even then my mom and relatives are insisting me to marry another guy but still I'm struggling to come out!!

5 years is too soon for anyone to rush your feelings. Take your time. Your husband would have wished for you to choose what is best for you at your own pace. Make sure you make all your decisions in your most happiest of moments.
It seems like the bad news was that her husband died, but then he came back for one last night of passion with his wife. The blood could represent how he died and why his wife was covered in it afterwards. I'm thinking maybe we couldn't see his face because of the brutality of his death (he didn't die peacefully so may be full of anger?). Perhaps he wants his wife to find closure for him because he had a wrongful death. That's my theory anyway :)
Hana Tenshi I give you an “A” for effort for your attempt to explain this film. Sounds good to me.
@Cyan Blue Your comment 😂😩
He just wanted to end it and say his goodbye with a good fuck.
Thank you
Glad you explained it because I really didn't get it. Maybe because it was so dark I couldn't see the plot.. Thanks!🥰
I really liked the part when it was really, really dark, and I could barely see anything. Oh, and then when they were talking really low and I couldn’t quite make out what they were saying. And how about that text I couldn’t read? My mind was blown!
🤣😂😭
Lol 😂😂That comment was funny

Oh, I get it now: this thing happens, and then this other thing happens, and then this other thing happens...and then the film ends. I see. I don’t usually complain about short films, but somebody went to a lot of trouble to make this film where almost nothing is visible, there is no discernible plot, the characters aren’t sympathetic at all, and nobody has any idea what’s going on. Nice.
thank you now I understand what happened🙌.
Totally agree, I don't complain too much about SF's aswell, but I do agree with your points. The vibe was really good though, the story line wasn't unfortunately...
CoDProductionzz - Maybe it was a student film or something? Weird. Maybe they made it as just sort of a “portrait”...not meant to have much of a plot...just meant to watch...and then marinate in it 😂 I have no idea...but wow. I kept waiting for...something. Anything.

Well her husband was pretty dead when he was alive so she might not have noticed the difference
Some comments are truly magnificent.
This isn't as confusing as people are making it out to be. What's throwing you is the way the filmmakers chose to represent the guy's ghost, as a heavy breather who leaves blood behind, probably as a manifestation of whatever physical trauma he suffered. They also intended to leave the identity of the presence ambiguous, because they thought it was more artsy that way. The title doesn't make sense. They wanted a title that related to the phone call in the dream, but couldn't think of a good one, so decided to leave that vague as well. That's it.
I liked the part where he asked u wanna fack lol
Idk but am I the only one who see everything? Like it wasn't that dark

It's called gamma - I saw everything too.
It wasn't that bad, I had to strain my eyes a bit but that's okay.
I seen everything, maybe others need to turn the brightness up IDK. Usually I’d be one of the ppl saying I couldn’t see it lol
they probably watched it on their iPhone 3
Is it possible she's in such a deep depression over her husband's death that she replays the night over and over and the blood was that she really killed herself and then goes off with that entity? I don't know we don't see her body.
Nice!
Honestly, I think she literally just got fucked by a bloody ghost. You can see the blood dripping from him and onto her face.
I saw everything just fine. However, I STILL don't get it.
So she made love with her husband's ghost? And the bad news was the accidental death of her husband.
@@luiscavalcanti3431 what exactly is "insanely funny"?
Dr. Syedah Ammarah The problem with this is when her husband lay next to her on the bed and started kissing her, he had no blood on his body. And which was the wrong number? She had 3 missed calls and a text saying "Oh I just saw the news and I'm so so sorry. I'll call in the morning. Sorry, I just wanted to say something". Makes no sense to me.
Som Thing.. While he was sitting beside her, he was gasping, which felt like he was about to die. They then made love, and she woke up knowing he died(all the blood). Maybe he was in transition state at the moment. Accident-gasping-death. (He/his soul came to her as his wish for intimacy remained.)
Ok but then who is the guy in leather?

I have NO idea what happened.
Same👋🏼 no clue🤷🏻♀️
It's very simple. She had sex with him, then blood appeared on her body and then he disappeared. When she noticed that she's all bloody she went downstairs to check what's up and she noticed that her husband is wearing a black suit.
@@SorakaOTP462 Thank you ! Explaining he black suit now cleared my confusion ! "All" makes sense now...
@@SorakaOTP462 so her husband killed some one? Or what?
We better lighting might of helped a bit.
A visual representation of my panic attacks
This took longer to think about than to watch. I think that the husband was terminally ill. When she was texting him, she was about to write "sorry about last night", but she cleared it out because she didn't want to draw attention to the fact that the bad news was obviously that he had died. He died at work that day and the call came in at 3:13 in the afternoon (I'm American and this is obviously British but I am going with my time system). That night, she thought she had a lucid dream about him, but she woke up and saw that something physical had covered her with blood. She went downstairs and then she saw her husband in the living room that "killed" her at 3:13 am. She woke up again in her bed on the previous day and the entire thing was a dream (except her husband being terminally ill), including the dream in the dream. She didn't remember the news because she didn't answer the call. The whole was her way of conceptualizing that her husband was eventually going to die and she when that happened she wanted to go with him.
I wanted to see his face. Lol 😆
Is it a coincidence that my phone started ringing halfway through this?
No. Its not.
FlamerDrake the oddest thing.... I can't remember what the phone call was about

If you watch it in a kind of dark room and listen to it with earphones, you can actually understand ir and see it
I have 2 theories. I believe the second one is probably the most accurate.
1-> Well I think that most definitely her husband is dead. He didn't seem to really care about her when he was alive tho. Leaving first thing in the morning and then sending her a message that he would be late is probably a sign that he is cheating or something. The first thought that crossed my mind was that the man in the dark resembled her husband's Dobellganger. It is believed in the fiction world that dopellgangers exploit the failings of one person to take over his life. Idk but I see a marriage that is failing. Maybe, the dopellganger seized the opportunity to kill him when he was outside and came home right after it committed the murder. That could explain the blood dripping off of him and on the lady.
2-> Another theory is that her husband is dead and her talking to him is just an illusion resembling her relationship with the man before he died. For the part where they "touch" I think that that part is a dream as vivid as her first one we saw in the start and the man at the end was probably real, an entity which manifested from her intense sadness and fed off of her grief. It couldn't have possibly been human, because if you look at the mirror closely its face is distorted. His features are not as detailed as a human's features would reflect to be in the mirror. It honestly looks like its wearing a cloth that covers its body. Probably done on purpose to ensure that the entity didn't look exactly human
Look it's late at night, that's the best I can do xD
Her husband cared for her, he even woke up in the middle of the night to see if she was okay. He didn't fall right back to sleep and asked her about what made her scared. He even offered to take her mind off it and she said no. And the morning, well he had work to go to and her disturbed so why bother to wake her up?
Your second theory is pretty good, I'm wondering if she's having a dream within a dream, within a dream somehow. But then why show the husband leaving for work in the morning while she's sleeping if he's just a vision? I think he died that night and then some entity came back in his form. I can't really explain this one. :p
@@brooklyngal6334 hm yeah I may have misunderstood the situation with her husband
Thanks for helping with my theory
@@rafaelar1297 No problem. There are so many comments on here claiming he was cheating and stuff and I saw nothing to support that at all. I feel like she's the one with issues because it seems like she often gets up at night or can't sleep well, but it's only hinted at it.
I never been this earlier before......but I’m ready for ALTER to ALTER my day
how long have you been waiting to use that tortured pun?
She is ok she was just having her period. This is normal.
That’s so funny. You should be a comedian. 🙄
@Trevor Philips She proved my satire comment more right XD.
The call was real but everything beyond that was a bit of an emotional breakdown as she shuts down after hearing about the loss of her husband/boyfriend. That's why everything has such a surreal feel to it and she is just in a cloud. The blood spilling on her may be a Shakespearean attempt to signify that the blood is literally on her hands as she may have caused the man to stay outside at night she feel asleep and he couldn't get in because he forgot his keys at home. So his death or blood is on her hands, body and legs. It's a poignant story of how one could deal with loss and grief.
Although I enjoy the lighting and the color palette, the story does seem a bit misleading. A woman wakes up from a supposed bad dream filling her thoughts with sound of an ambulance and maybe a train? A man confronts her, but it's not really a man, is it? it's physical, but not really, but this notion is somewhat ruined when the man's face is revealed in the morning. She wakes up, some texts are exchanged which further develops him as a physical form and then suddenly she wakes up bathed in blood after some naughty time. It just seems like the woman pleasured herself to her deceased husband, but the relationship presented didn't seem passionate at all, so it just gives a weird sensation. Color is amazing, everything's so cold, but the story is all over the place.
I don’t get the title. Does “number” refer to the time?
Yeah , you could just be right . Scrolling thru comments to see if at least that question could be answered . You're the first to even mention it . Good observation 👏
Yeah, the title seems to have nothing to do with the 'story.' That took a long time to say almost nothing.
I think wrong number means wrong person or wrong partner..............?
title was bloody rubbish
I think the title "wrong number" refers time in the dream vs. in the reality. Which she dreamt 3:13 but in reality it turnt out to be 3:05.
What did this have to do with wrong numbers? The texts were sent to the right person

For those who don't understand the film: she was dreaming.
My subconscious must have been pretty stuck on the title because I was convinced that the "forgot my keys" must have been sent also to someone else before the girlfriend, to the wrong number, and the person at the end was the recipient who took advantage of knowing the door may have been left open and come in to attack the couple. I realise that none of this really lines up with what we saw so my brain did that leap for nothing lmao if we actually got a bit of plot this could've been an excellent short
She had the nightmare Friday May 2nd, 3:09am and Claudia texted and called her Saturday May 3rd 3:05 am. The text read (paraphrased) "Sorry, I just saw the news, I'll call you in the morning, I just wanted to say something"
That part stuck out to me "I just wanted to say something" The husband looked like he wanted to say something b4 he went to work, and she erased her apology. Maybe this was more about their last words to each other. Maybe her text was the reason for the accident ? If he died from texting on the job, the last thing he would have read was her apology....idk
I'm with the others, the ones who said they didn't get it. Here's what I'll add: her friend (or relative?), Claudia, texted her to tell her she heard what happened on the news, and that she's so sorry. If whatever happened on the news and everyone knows about it, why are there no paramedics or police at her apartment?
And what was the wrong number lets just face it this sht is complete garbage..

Movie:wrong number featuring the fan 😂
I guess we're each supposed to interpret this film whatever way we choose to, but I think the filmmaker should give us something to go on. Letting the viewer reach his own conclusion as to what transpired says this "is just a weak story, with no clear narrative, so I don't have a cohesive way to end it. You go ahead and think whatever you want , decide what it means for yourself , because I, as a filmmaker, don't give a shit". There is a fine line between being ambiguous and being nonsensical. I see this type of movie as lazy filmmaking. This is worse than just ending it with a jump scare. It's an annoying waste of time pretending to be artful and mistakes vagueness for subtlety.
My thoughts exactly. And this channel is filled with shits like this
Bad lighting, no horror, even the story isn't good ;-; first time.. a little disappointed
Those sounds in the beginning sound like they're from the channel DUST. 🤔🤔
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am going to go outside of the box on this one. I don't think that her husband is dead. I think that he left her because it looked like he was packing the next morning. On her phone the first time, he sent a text about him forgetting his keys. She sent a message back asking when his shift ended. She was planning to do the nasty with her husband when he returned to make up for turning him down previously. She had to let him in because he forgot his keys. I think "the man" on the bed was a monster mimicking her husband so it could slide between those thighs. The calls and phone messages that woke her up from Claudia was the wrong number to make he audience think the husband is dead.
Flashynista got alot if sense than the other theories tho👍🏻
Flashynista got alot if sense than the other theories tho👍🏻 that’s exactly what the title is telling us “wrong number”
And about the text message from her friend, Claudia, what she’s telling was about she’s seen the guy cheating with someone else (not about him being dead!) and she’s sorry coz all she thought was they ended their relationship! And the rest was all just twists and turns to the story, which makes it so interesting to solve
Feels like 13 minutes of my life pissed off. Made no sense.
One redeeming quality. It had a decent sex scene even though it was with a ghost.
In the middle of this my phone rings * the true horror * :)
What the hell did I just watch? Feel like there's a lot missing here. I get that the text is saying your husband is dead. Sex with husband happened. Where did all the blood come from? What was that thing at the end? Was cool, sure. But, what was the extra stuff?
She had sex with her dead husbands ghost. Dude came home to her one last time.
Glad i am not the only one who's completely just baffled! Alot of things made no sense, and theres just no good storyline here because it's confusing the hell out of alot of us!!! I never feel like i've wasted my time when watching what alter puts out for shorts but today for the first time I DO FEEL JIPPED sadly.
I will never get those 12 minutes back. Just because you have the capability to make a 12 minute atrocity doesn’t mean you should. Whoever made this owes me 12 minutes. I’m making a 12 minute horror short called “12 Minutes” where I haunt this production company for 12 minutes every night from beyond the grave.
The best thing in this film is 》 his voice
I guess sometimes dreams come true... even the worst one.
WTF . All in dark
Yes hello, Netflix? Yea this one right here
well that was 12 minutes wasted wtf was even going on
There’s a lot of issues with this film that really confuses the viewer. Sadly, they could’ve all been easily remedied had there been a little more effort.
1. The transitions needed a lot of work. I thought she was still in the bathroom while explaining the dream, but she had already gone to bed. A simple pan of her walking to bed between scenes would’ve made it more clear to the audience since both backgrounds of the rooms were basically identical. The viewer needs distinguishing factors between scenes.
2. I wish we would’ve seen her stay awake passed 3:13 and had a sigh of relief with her
3. We didn’t need a long fade in and out scene of her bf leaving. Imo it would’ve been fine if it had been morning, he said goodbye and she mentioned there “sorry for being crazy last night”.
4. I’m very confused about the texts? He said he forgot his keys, meaning she’d need to let him in so I’m figuring he died that evening and that’s why she had sex with a dead guy? There was also a confusing bit where she sees him naked and heavy breathing at the edge of the bed but doesn’t seem to care and rolls over? And then he’s like spoon humping her naked, and then with a shirt on, and then naked again.
5. Lastly, we never got to 3:13? Maybe that’s the whole point but it could’ve ended on her receiving that dreaded phone call at 3:13 which would deliver the news that he died and tie the whole story together. Is that why it’s called “wrong number”? Because it wasn’t supposed to be 3:13? That seems a little silly.
6. Oh yeah and then he’s suddenly a demon/dark figure when he had just looked human? Ending was sort of cheap, wish that shadow thing was left out altogether.
This is all my interpretation and of course my own opinion. These are just the things I think confused viewers and could’ve been done different.
I'm so confuse. The next morning the partner sat at the edge of bed, looking straight ahead. ok weird. He put clothes in a bag and before leaving, he looked at her but said nothing. Why was he acting weird and was he dumping her? The man is back to the apartment, again sitting at the edge of the bed looking straight breathing heavy. Ok weird again. They had sex, didn't show his face and he was bleeding all over her. Was he really her partner, he died and came back as a zombie? But zombie are brainless, they don't want sex, they want brain for dinner. Was it her man or some stranger she had sex with and now he's in the livingroom just sitting there in the shadow.
The husband really said baby i am not even here it is hallucination

basically she got screwed by a demon and the he kill her yaaaaaaayyyy!!
Disorienting and disturbing piece of dream logic that ramps up the anxiety in subtle and overt ways, and never lets go. I especially love how it is before we get a half-decent look at the man, and how blurry it makes the line between sleep and waking state.
This is why i ever answer the phone at night or day
Ghost want to call me through the phone
Me:Sike!!You got a wrong number!!
Eww. Who still drinks tap water?? That itself is a horror in a horror short film.
Glad I have a lamp lmfao
I have no idea what all this meant but I liked it 😊
The main character ( the Woman ) was beautiful, especially the actress. I liked her throughout the whole short film.
How are there so many negative comments? Just brighten your screen if it's too dark, I had no problem with that. Pause it to read the texts if you must. And this story really isn't very complicated so I don't understand why anyone is confused and complaining. Did this end up recommended to a bunch of people who don't watch short films or something?
Anyway, I liked it, I thought the slow foreboding atmosphere was really effective and I like the small bits of evidence that something was off about the boyfriend at the end, like the way he's shown standing near the bed and then immediately shown laying next to her, and the slightly odd way he holds her throat. I thought it was all very well done.
.... I literally woke up the other night to the same weird train sound and had a dream that I was sleeping and got a phone call but it had an old timey bell ringtone (I used to have an app) it was my dad and he said something about my dog bit someone or got bit or something idk I cant remember but I really do have this feeling something bad is going to happen.
my step grandad just died, my grandpa died almost a year ago, great uncle just died, I really dread whatever is coming. this is giving me goosebumps and literally making me cry I'm so freaked out.
Damn, that dreadful feeling of what was to come was this covid nonsense wasn’t it?
@@datsweetsansabooty maybe! whatever it had been I have not been having a good year at all, 2020 or 2021.
@@marysab8865 sorry to hear that, hope things get better for you soon.
Clearly it is so refreshing to see new talent.
totally confused
I love all of your shorts, but this one left me frustrated...in more ways than one...lol
As confused as I am, I have a different theory than many of the commenters, and far more uncanny I think.
I felt like she was indeed in bed with her husband in the beginning, telling him her nightmare. Then he leaves to work, she asks him when he'll be home so I guess that he's meant to come home late. She slightly wakes up during the night because her husband is home and want to make love to her but she's still in this semi-deep sleep. She wakes up later covered in blood, and walking downstairs she sees the door wide open and this masked guy in the living room. I think that it wasn't her husband at all who made love to her that night. It is a psycho who broke in the house, killed her husband and f*cked her (hence the blood drops). She didn't open her eyes during the act, she was sleepy, she believed that it was her husband but no. The guy wait for her in the living room. That's it. At least it made sense to me with the open door, the blood drops, and the fact that we never see the face of the man during their nighty freaky time. Tbh it's far more terrifying than anything paranormal imho
I bet this would have been great to watch if I could actually see it.
You cant watch this movie unless you have night vision goggles on or your cat narrates it to you.
The title reminds me of that rap battle.. oops wrong number hah
the real tragedy is when the Husband asked "Wanna f*ck"....................I was thinking..gee thats as romantic men will get these days.
