    I'm ordering this right now !
    I've really been loving my WSPA after a few mods.
    I've got the adjustable clamp support that helped stabilize the clamp a ton . I've also got lapping film set that works amazing for mirror edges.
    This sharpener has worked great for all my knives except for my wife's Microtech UTX 70. The blade was just way too narrow for use in the factory WSPA blade clamp. The narrow blade wouldn't reach the end of the V channel of the clamp and when stone wouldn't touch the edge of the blade , just the clamp itself.
    I knew there had to be an aftermarket clamp that would fix this . I believe I've found it right here ! Ordering now

      Hi , i think this type of sharpening systems are not sharpening a blade on the original angle but on a forced angle and only if the blade is perfectly round with the same radius on the whole lenght of the blade this kind of system will work and i said not this sysytem but all the systems with only a pivot point.
      If you are not in accord with me, you can make a video to show with the electronic angle meter to show everybody in different spots of the blade it is a different angle and that can damage the blades and messed up your entire angle of the blade because when you haveTHE SAME HEIGHT BUT DIFFERENT DISTANCE, THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE BLADE AND STONE CHANGE, and THATS NOT GOOD FOR THE BLADES.
      After few sharpening sessions with these kind of systems you will have on a single blade a mutitude of angles that VARY with the shape of the blade, the more curves or chages of a direction of a blade has the more angles you'll have because, LIKE I SAID BEFORE, THE DISTANCE AND ANGLES ARE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL then as one quantity increases, the other decreases.

    That's why I prefer to buy Lancky, but the best improvement I have seen, it should look like this originally from the factory

      Thanks for the compliment! As a matter of interest, I also have the same system available for upgrading a Lansky sharpener.

    Just ordered this kit from gritomatic. I’ve had prettt good luck with the standard worksharp clamp but it has its limitations. I’m hoping this will allow me to get decent angles on knives that aren’t very broad/tall blade. Like traditional slipjoints.

    Hi
    Thank you for your good video, how long does this knife sharpener usually work? And after how long should it be replaced?
    Question 2: I do not have an electronic angle meter, and without using an electronic angle meter, how do we know what angle number to use for each type of knife, such as 15 degrees or 17 degrees or 20 degrees or 25 degrees or 30 degrees?

    • @777edge
      @777edge  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, the durability is great and it will last a very long time if you're a home sharpener. You don't need a dedicated digital angle cube, you can use a free angle measurement app on your smart phone that does the same job. If you're sharpening a knife at the same angle as its current edge, then you don't need and angle gauge. Simply use a sharpie to mark the edge and adjust the angle until you see the sharpie ink gets removed before sharpening.

    Looks like a great modification, is the magnet strong enough to hold securely?

    • @777edge
      @777edge  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, absolutely. It's N52 neodymium magnets. Of course they will never hold the same as a clamp as It's still only a hold force from one side of the knife - but if you lightly hold / guide the knife while sharpening then it holds perfectly fine.
      The benefit is the fact that you can sharpen really low angles with a magnetic platform, lower than you ever can with a clamp. It also gives you greater flexibility regarding the types of knives you can sharpen. With a clamp, you are often very limited.

  • @keefer88
    @keefer88 2 года назад +1

    this is genius my friend. How well does the magnet work with stainless steel?

    • @777edge
      @777edge  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for the compliment! Regarding your question - with knife stainless steels, it works perfectly fine. The stainless steel types used in almost all knife manufacturing are martensitic and in combination with containing enough iron, such stainless steels are actually very magnetic.

    My spyderco full flat grinds are almost impossible to center in the original clamp, this may solve that...

    • @777edge
      @777edge  Год назад

      It definitely solves it. I sharpen most of my Spyderco FFG's on this platform.

  • @davidstevens6117

    Will this work sharpening a VERY large Bowie with a 1/4" spine? Does the clamp open that far?

    • @777edge
      @777edge  Год назад +1

      Yes, it should work because it does not have a clamp, just a magnetic platform holding the knife in place so the spine thickness does not matter. Also, the 2 part (3 point) sliding knife guide can be removed completely if you have a knife with a very wide blade and you need extra space.
