...I mention this when I see someone maybe not completely happy with their work...only you know the vision in your head...the rest of us see a hunk of wood transformed into something useful that generally shows off the beautiful wood grain... And these are perfect examples...but coming from pallet wood makes them pretty special...well done! Matt
Another great video. I wouldn’t go as far as saying the lines ruined it but I do agree that it didn’t NEED them. I really love small projects like this because it re-enforces the fact in my mind that every project doesn’t need to be huge and epic. Thanks for sharing and have a great Labor Day Weekend.🎉

@@marksholin4835 It's a Benjamin's best 1/2 bowl gouge. 45 degree bevel with kind of a fingernail grind. It's my own grind. But the previous description is the closest.

Thank you Matt! Sometimes I can be pretty critical on myself. I think the lines interfere with the wood grain.

I'm 60 also but I started a couple years ago.
Turning 60 in January, hope to have one in a new garage by next summer. 😂
@@seanpaula8924 hope everything goes well for you buddy
Nice little vase. Is there any certain speed that you suggest?
Thanks! My max is usually 1200 rpms. Then I adjust for how balanced the blank is.
Do you find those longer jaws helpful?
Ya. I think they are a little more versatile.
What are you using to create the shine.
I use friction polish. This is a video of my mix.

Is that a bowl gouge or a spindle gouge, and what size is it?
