Thank you very much Mr. McWade, I have been showing this video to all of my introductory graphic design students for several years now and many of them choose to use this technique to create their first project in my course.
I'm not in marketing so much any more, but still love to keep up with the technology. These videos are great! Short and to the point. I find a lot of the information is applicable in other areas too, like software design and development.
OR you could just use the golden ratio 1.618 to get a proportionate rectangle. Golden Ratio is a great layout tool Mr. John McWade. I'm sure you have used it before.
Maybe best for Illustrator. Check this out. graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/27594/should-i-design-business-cards-in-indesign-illustrator-or-photoshop

Technical Question to the awesome B&A team: How do you manage the "coordination of hand and digital stuff" - Obviously, all cards etc. are done in post-production after filming, but how do you manage to show the elements so precisely? Thanks for giving me a clue!
That's not an invisible square. Its the Golden triangle. Its also known as the Divine proportion, fibonacci, Phi, and many other names. it's esoteric number is 1.618. Its been used in art and architecture for centuries. It is a mathematical equation for how the human eye finds equilibrium in space and how we unconsciously define balance and beauty. Its also all over natural systems from the helical shape of our DNA to the spin of the Galaxy.
