      Kimmie Koneko Reid could definitely play Uno Jund. Red and green to sure up his options while allowing combos, and a healthy dose of black to shut down his opponents and get his desired colour on the field.
      Wouldn't be good, but could be done.

    Really great to see you bring your deck building approach to Vintage Reid, though it's always tough to make fairer decks work. Given the lack of Force of Will, I think I'd definitely want a pair of Decays in here to fight Oath - maybe over one Kologhans Command, the other possibly over a Thoughtseize or Fatal Push. Sylvain Library is also a super powerful threat at the moment as it can't be red blasted. And given the high land count you're forced into playing, I wonder if a Dack would have been useful. Anyway, all the best and thanks for the great Vintage content! :)

    I disagree with making the opponent discard as opposed to returning the bob. They had the top to mitigate the effects of the discard, but the confidant would force them to commit a full card of resources to deal with that half of the K command. And they would need to do it urgently or the bob would accumulate more than just one card of value

    I know it’s called vintage, but when most decks contain about 20-30 of the same cards, it feels a lot like standard.
    Other than eating some counter spells, DR shaman didn’t do much eating and did most of his work on the ground. Funny.
    After watching him concede games with about 15 life left (a couple of which left me wondering if his opponents maybe would have decked themselves before finding a win-con) it was nice to see him lose match 5 to a creature heavy deck that didn’t have all the same cards that were in the other decks.

  • @jeirda5
    @jeirda5 6 лет назад +1

    It's a huge pet peeve of mine, but why do people say 'fateseal myself'? The fateseal mechanic specifies the opponents library, because the whole point is you're sealing their fate by deciding what they draw in the future. If you look at your own top card then decide to put it on the top or bottom, that's just called scrying. Jace's ability can do both because it doesn't use either keyword, people just call it fatesealing because you're almost always targeting your opponent.

    • @Brawler_1337
      @Brawler_1337 6 лет назад +3

      You just explained exactly why people call it fatesealing themselves. “Fateseal” is the colloquial shorthand for Jace’s +2, so even when you use it on yourself, you just call it by its nickname.

    Can somebody explain to me how the Basking Rootwalla/Vengevine combo works?

    • @chrisp2757
      @chrisp2757 6 лет назад

      Look up the cards, all will be revealed. But...
      Opponent uses Bazaar of Baghdad to draw two, then has to discard three. Rootwalla has madness cost of zero, so he casts both for zero mana, Vengevine in graveyard returns if you “cast” two creature spells this turn.

    Why no sol ring in the deck? Also no Library? Seems super weird to me

    • @EddieKress
      @EddieKress 6 лет назад +12

      The omission of Sol Ring I guess it's due to the deck being so color intensive, if you look at the decklist you'll note that there isn't a lot of colorless mana costs where you can use the mana. So even with Sol Ring making possible some broken openings I think it's not woth the slot..

    • @SirSilicon
      @SirSilicon 6 лет назад +5

      Reid said no Sol Ring because of Nul Rod in his maindeck. This deck also tries to empty the hand very fast so Library is a very bad topdeck. Also the 4 colors alredy make the mana bad as you can see in the video.

    • @guidom3419
      @guidom3419 6 лет назад +2

      Your arguments are fair but both sol ring and Library are free Wins if they are in your opening hand. Also Green sun zenit is great with sol ring. Personallly I would cut some wasteland and move null Rod to the sideboard for some kolaghans command

    • @stingystudent6376
      @stingystudent6376 6 лет назад +5

      Null rod is reidiculously good ;), in like 100% of match-ups, easily the card that makes this deck playable.

    • @stingystudent6376
      @stingystudent6376 6 лет назад +4

      Also library is only top tier agaisnt blue mirrors, which his entire deck is made to beat anyways, so it seems redundant to add sol and library for broken starts, for null rods which are just as broken, but universally so, and actually calculated for the deck as a whole.

    6:45 I would have pyroblasted at upkeep in order to stop a card from being drawn

    • @Ethryas
      @Ethryas 6 лет назад

      I was thinking this too. It is only punished if the opponent's card in hand is a Force of Will, and prevents not only the card drawn for the turn, ut the opponent from using Top in response to potentially draw a Force or blue card for it.

    • @toast_recon
      @toast_recon 6 лет назад

      Was gonna say draw step, but I guess it makes no difference, huh

    • @alexkirner5266
      @alexkirner5266 6 лет назад

      toast_recon, when you stop in a player’s draw step, they draw first. i.e vendillion clique

    • @Ethryas
      @Ethryas 6 лет назад

      toast_recon waiting until draw step is a little different as they get one more card, so if you're worried about Force of Will upkeep is better. You could argue that draw step makes your Leovold survives better since it precludes the opponent from using the first, followed by the second ability of Top in response to find removal. But that doesn't really work in practice since the opponent has used top multiple times if I remember correctly, and would have a removal spell in the top three pushed to the top of their deck anyway.

    • @toast_recon
      @toast_recon 6 лет назад

      Ethryas They get another card off the pyroblast before it resolves either way. Either they draw off pyroblast, see their extra card and don't find a counter, or they draw for their turn, get pyroblasted, draw 0 cards and don't draw a counter.
      I think draw step might even be a little better in case they find removal off your upkeep pyroblast. If they do, they draw 2 cards that turn instead of 1 if you pyroblasted draw step. Double leovold makes for awfully tricky situstions

    Playing Underground Sea at 8:15 is probably a misplay. A mystery card in your hand for bluff value is worth more than an extra mana to do nothing with.
    There’s basically nothing in your deck that can punish you for holding the land either. Worst case you draw a Jace and then draw a 1 drop you can’t cast off of it. Narrow enough, imo, to warrant holding the land for bluff value.

      Deck is still plenty spicy for vintage, where there's basically 3 main decks that see play: blue based control, paradoxical storm and shops. Dredge on the outside as the next biggest deck. This is a far cry from any of these decks.

    • @GutoCmtt
      @GutoCmtt 6 лет назад +1

      Not that much really, it's pretty similar to the 4c leovold decks that play vintage. The most common is BUG, but there are a lot of them with red for pyro, bolt and sometimes KCommand. I mean, if you're going that route there aren't many cuttable cards from the deck. It's a nice deck that don't see that much play, but it's far from a "spicy brew". Survival salad, red prison, vintage humans, those are spicy decks IMO.

    • @chrisp2757
      @chrisp2757 6 лет назад

      I agree Jack (sarcasm). I mean, he only plays 4 moxes.... and lotus, Jace, snapcaster, mental misstep, time walk, ancestral... that’s about 15-20 cards that most of his opponents all play. The mana bases are fairly similar, so there’s about 30 of the exact same cards...
