I had a REAL Meyers Manx Dune buggy. built on 1960 chassis. My friend traded a 1954 chevy station wagon to Bruce Meyers for a a Meyers Tow'D .Bruce was going out of business in 1976 because of the competition . My father in law bought the Tow'D. When he checked the vin #, 000001! The first one ! Meyers company was located in Santa Ans Ca. ,a few miles away. My father in law offered me the Tow'D or a 1959 Plymouth w/ 40 k orig miles. I chose the Plymouth . no telling what the Tow'D would be worth today!
I recently sold my 1999 Meyers Towd to my nephew. Onwed it for 40 years. Bought used ln 1976 rebult it. Got a New York vin number in 99 got registered for street. Sold it to my nephew. He took it to South Carolina, loves it! I didn't have a son had to keep in the family. 😊

always wanted one of these, i had a baja bug and it was fun and got great mpg
A friend of mine had one that was built up and it would pull wheelies pretty easily.

I remember when I could buy anything vw bug related for $200 to $2500. 60 is creeping up on me 😁
Yeah, those were the days. There are some other cars I wish I had thought to tuck away in a barn too.
