Anthony James I got a good laugh out of that. They are prescription cheapo glasses with tint from eyebuydirect.com
@@BobGrows Haha, thank you! 🙃
Thumbs up on the fig. Have not seen that one before
It looks like it currently is not getting any direct sunlight. How much direct sunlight does this area get per day? Great video!
About 5hrs of direct sunlight
First off, love the videos! I am in SWFL and am thinking of starting a small operation like this under my house. I know, I live in the sun capital of the world but I have a reason to go indoors. I will be adding sensors and controls (pump, light, water quality, water level, etc) to the system as controls is what I do normally for my occupation. My question, have you grown these in the summer here? Will the tomatoes still produce when it stays warm at night? Do you recommend any specific species of plants (not just tomatoes) for summer? I will likely have 4 buckets in a square and 2--3 net pots in the pvc, all under a color and time controlled LED grow lamp.
I watched your DWC video detailing this system. I see you made a number of changes. I’d like to suggest a video detailing the changes since that last video almost resulted in me building flawed(?) system.
I love your system and I also live in Florida on the treasure coast. I noticed you changed how your water is going from your pump to the drip. Could you tell me how did you change it and what you did different, and how big of a hole did you drill for the drip into your plants? Also my vines get too heavy how are you holding them up? Thank you so much I am a huge fan of what you have done!
I hold the vines with rope to the ceiling. I think the hole is 3/8 but this varies with the pressure your pump has.
Nice set up, your plants look amazing ! I'm planning on building a dutch bucket system and having it ready for planting next spring. I've never eaten a hydroponic tomato, how do yours taste versus ones grown in soil? Thanks for the great video and thanks in advance for any opinion you can offer about the flavor.
Cà chua rất tốt. Trồng bằng thủy canh. Tôi đến từ việt nam
Love the systems you've shared and I'm in the process of setting one up myself. My question is about pests! Do you have any bugs (cut worms, etc.)? If so, how do you control them?
Hello Bob, You have tried and tested both systems, hydroponics(dutch bucet) and rain gutter grow system. Both systems seems promising but to me hydroponics looks like a science project. I am interested in growing green chilli, tomatoes and lettuce. For my situation which system do you recommend? Which system is more cost effective with respect to it's produce? Please guide me, thanks.
Have you done okra ?
Want try it with fresh okra not sure where to start
Nice !Thumps up
What about the weather there?, btw awesome setup!
Juan Salazar Today was 88* F sunny all day. I’m located in Miami Florida
how often do you change your water
I don’t change my water. The only time I’ve ever changed the water was when there was a catastrophe and it leaked everywhere.
OK dumb question - how do you deal with the heat for your reservoir? I thought you need to have chilled water to make this work. I am in Central FL and was going to do a small NFT system on my back porch, but am worried about the water temperature.
I haven’t had issue with heat. It might be related to the buckets. They hold very little water and the roots are suspended in air. I don’t do anything to control temps.
@@BobGrows thanks! I just put together a cheap nft type system. Here's crossing my fingers it works!
Any tips on keeping the algea to a minimum?
Don’t have the reservoir top open, No clear tubing. My red buckets have a little bit of algae on the inside But since the water level is very low there isn’t much room for it to grow. I personally wouldn’t use plastic to cover the buckets it seems very tedious. I would just cover it with some extra T-shirts you have lying around
@@BobGrows mine seems to grow right on the top. Right on top of the perlite i am using as my grow medium. I am gonna use some small black towels i get at work
I cover all my buckets with aluminum foil. Works great.
Hi Bob, i really enjoy your video and want to sponsor you a led grow light for grow your tomatoes, if you are interested in that, just leave me your email address.
Thank you~~hope you be well
