I'm going to start a segment in the comment section called, "Guess which lake in Oklahoma Edwin is fishing at." I live in OKC but I know for a fact that we fish the same bodies of water here in the Okie state pretty frequently.
This is the best, most informative technique video I’ve ever seen. With all the details you’ve shared, I don’t feel that I need to worry about not having the live scope technology on my boat. Thank you Edwin.
Wow! Great breakdown of where your target is, how far you make your casts and how you don’t worry about covering a ton of water in the wintertime. Focus casts so that about halfway back you can make your longer pauses to pull bass out of brush piles. Good luck in Stage 1 tournament Edwin!!!
Wow, what a breakdown on jerk baits! I can listen to you talk all day when you are teaching us about different baits, thanks so much, I learned a bunch from this video.
Thanks so much for showing the retrieve you were using and for the tip of keeping your line slack. I'm stuck on moving too fast and keeping my line tight. Thanks E.
The "targeting" strategy makes allot of sense. I spend too much time fishing the whole bank or point. I will take your advise and look for structure or cover and target those areas instead. Great advise Edwin. Thank you for another informative and fun video.
Thanks for the tips Edwin! Hard down here in Florida with our winters not getting under 45 degrees but when it does dip down I tend to go with the jerk bait or ned rig.
Best instructional jerkbait video I have ever seen. Your vids are the most informative on the Internet. Can't wait for the ice to get off here in Michigan. Thanks again Edwin and good luck on the upcoming season!
Awesome breakdown on jerkbaits. Have just come back to fishing in the last couple years and am getting more serious about it. Up until I started back and started watching videos, never knew much about all these different techniques. Haven't given jerkbaits to much time in the past since I didn't really know the correct way to fish them and thanks to these videos and videos like them, I have learned a huge amount this winter. Thank you for the breakdown
Great Stuff Edwin! That history of old jerk bait pause vs. newer jerk baits is the kind of gold I watch your channel to pick up😁Thank you for sharing your wealth of experience!
Love your show, project E, is awesome. I'm always interested in you telling about how to use and pick baits for your lakes based on time of year, water clarity, etc., go Edwin
Thanks for the info, Edwin. I made a commitment this year to get better at fishing jerkbaits and this video really helped clear up some questions I had. I live in Northwestern Ohio, so I won’t see 39 degree water for another month and a half at least, but I’ll have some better tips now when I do😬
Not fishing a jerkbait as a search bait is a great tip. I’ve had trouble mastering prespawn jerkbait fishing and I’ve made the mistake of trying to fish large areas. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks man, lots of cool tips in this video. Quick question though I’m new to running a fish finder on my kayak. Can you show what your looking for on the graph when your out there. Thanks again
This is the most informative jerkbait video I have seen as with all of your videos. You confirmed some of the things I do with a jerkbait and taught me some new stuff. Thanks for the tips and confirmations. Good luck with the 2022 season.
Looks like cold water Bass are a little tricky to catch. It stayed in the teens up here in Pa. But didn't stay cold enough to go ice fishing. Finally in the 40's today and tomorrow, I'll have the boat out tomorrow either in the Susquehanna River or Octoraro Lakes. I would like to hear about what they call Chase Baits.
Awesome video E2! Get y'all some hot hands and keep them in your bibs. We are waiting for a winter front to come into central Texas. Hope it's not like last year's?
What an instructional jerkbait video, what a breakdown . I have not fished a jeckbaits often as I'm not very good at it but I will follow your instructions and hopefully I will get better. As always love your videos and hope to see you at Lewis Smith Lake.
As always, loved the video!, Brother! Would love to see some ned rig, hard swim bait, and when the weather is warmer....hollow bodied frog! God bless and be safe!
First thanks for getting out there in that cold weather for us. I know that wet cold hands make it tough. Second, woo you covered it for me for sure!!! I been twitching way too hard and fast. Little scared of 10 pound line but if you say so I’ll try it. Thanks again Edwin surely helps me a bunch.
The detail of your videos is simply amazing. How do you get it down to the depth you want… Assuming it’s a 10 foot jerk bait…Do you straight reel it until you feel it’s at 10 feet ?
Fish private ponds exclusively. I recognize that optics are important especially for jerk baits. I use a Hook4 to basically know the depth. What unit would you recommend that would be better for spotting brush etc. I am 81 years old so don’t want to invest a lot of money but I do fish 3 or 4 times a week.
Another great video and really helps here in tn also anything for us rookies that do good to catch a cold thanks again and be safe good luck with redcrest
Edwin, you mentioned before how important it is to have a slack line when you jerk the bait and that has helped me a lot. This is a great project e on using a jerk bait. I'm still confused on when to use braid and a fluorocarbon leader or just straight fluorocarbon. Edwin, did you already do a video on how and when to use these lines and with which baits. Really appreciate all you do for us. I will be watching you on MLF live starting this week.🐟🐟🐟🎣
I have a set of rods bionic blade's & tourney special that still feel the best in my hand due to the power hump grip that fills the void in your hand. They have aged well for early 90's model and still in use.
Thanks for the tips Edwin! What conditions do you look for when throwing big swimbaits early spring? Learned a lot from your videos keep them comin please
Edwin, are you tying directly to your split ring or using a snap.? Also if you're using the split ring, are you tying to the space on the ring or over both pieces on the ring; please advise, thanks Henry, from your old coaches company Advocare 👍
Edwin, I would love to see you throw a blade bait or a tail spinner in the cold water. I've been throwing em this winter. I have yet to cash in. By the way, love the Stunna.
#edwineversfishing let’s see some bank fishing tips for the spring!!! Love the content you explain things with a lot of detail I would love to see some bank content
I caught my first fish off of a jerkbait bc of an old episode of the bass pros that you did …I’m confident I’ll be able to catch a lot more after this video! Any chance you could do a split screen with your GoPro camera and the one at the back of the boat when the strikes happen so we can see exactly what you see and what you are doing with your rod at the same time?
@@EdwinEversfishing the jerkbait isn’t one of my favorite lures so I do not use it enough to get good with them. I have caught some 5 and 6 pounders while using them, but I would rather be throwing something else.
Your color selection for lakes not very clear taught me something. As I’ve been going to more translucent colors on my jerkbaits. I also need to rethink my use of gold jerkbaits for this time of the year which means I need to dig into one of my older jerkbait boxes and add a gold back to my go to jerkbait box.
Awesome video! Fishing a jerkbait is most definitely one of my most favorite ways to catch fish. It's a bait that in time I feel you can call your shots with. It's nothing like feeling one trainwreck it on the pause. The smallmouth in my profile picture was caught on a jerkbait.
Jerk style baits are king IMO ! I catch more on a soft jerkbait . Do you think a fluke style bait is better because of the slow fall on the pause ? Thanks !
Love fishing the jurkbait, got some info I did know. Question, when fishing a soft jurkbait (fluke style) would you fish it the same way as a hard bait?
Thats a great video. I use the same rod and reel for topwater except for mono line. I also have issues working with my left hand, so I taught my self left handed reels. much easier to work the bait. Why do you have crawl red in jerk bait?
Thanks Edwin this is the video I’ve been waiting for! The last few seasons I’ve tried to fill this void in my arsenal and I’ve been totally unsuccessful. I could not detect the strike and lost many fish. I even went out a lot with just two rods and a jerk bait Box to try to teach myself how to fish them and failed miserably! Lol. For some reason the way you describe it it all made sense compared to other ones out there! Will let you know how I do once my water thaws out
Great breakdown Edwin! Do you always tie on your jerkbaits directly? Since I'm rod limited, I've been using a snap (no swivel) and removing the front split ring so the nose doesn't totally dive. Curious on your thoughts!
Edwin, first of all, how are you making a 130 ft cast. I don't think I can cast a jerkbait that far and most of the time I am fishing a JB from my spinner set up.. Do you have a preference on which reel type to fish it from? Great Video !!!
What about using just a deep diver jerk bait but only reel it down a crank or two in different spots to test the shallow bite, then crank it down deeper if you don’t find any shallow?
Thanks for watching everyone! What fishing techniques do YOU want to learn about this time of year?? Let me know 👇👇
Love jerkbait fishing. Would like to see some of your tips for rattletrap type baits.
Bass jig fishing!!!
Would like to see some Carolina rig stuff and maybe more crank bait videos
I’m going to try jerk baits more! Thank you for this video taking the time to do!
Would like to see another video on fishing hair jigs this time in cold water and the tricks you use. That time is getting close here in Pa. thx.
I'm going to start a segment in the comment section called, "Guess which lake in Oklahoma Edwin is fishing at." I live in OKC but I know for a fact that we fish the same bodies of water here in the Okie state pretty frequently.
This spot in the video is a long ways from OKC.

Agree with that. He uses the “keep it Simple” process! Thanks!!
Thank you sharing the difference in solid colors and translucent, hopefully will help me out. Glen neff tx

Thanks so much for showing the retrieve you were using and for the tip of keeping your line slack. I'm stuck on moving too fast and keeping my line tight. Thanks E.
Nice job explaining the correlation between water clarity and color/depth selection
Love the wrap on your truck.

Very educational I’ve been going about it the wrong way Edwin really goes into detail . I can’t wait to try this strategy in cold water
Another well timed video Capt E. Appreciate your work.
That was some impressive fishing in 39 degree water...Awesome tips on jetkbait fishing..
Thank you Edwin much appreciated! This helps. This is the new technique I’m working on. Appreciate all your help. Good luck at stop number one MLF.

Awesome video Edwin!! I've been throwing a jerkbait like crazy this winter and struggling. This was very helpful.
Great video. 8 - 10 second pauses are much more doable than 15+. Those stunnas are great baits
