YAY! Fruity Fruits! My favorite series! You just have to love that song. Who doesn't sing it??? No one! I've had pine berries and I liked them. Today I saw a 2-ft. long Jack fruit in the grocery store!! YUUUGE!
Gonna have to go see if you've ever done loquats... I grew up in Florida and they were mostly seen as an ornamental tree I think, but all of us kids would climb the trees and eat the loquats all the time.
I know it’s been a while, but it’s so relieving to see Emmy with her taste back. It was sad to know she was struggling!
Thanks. It's wonderful to be back. 🧡
Especially given what she does.
I was thinking the same thing.
I don't typically watch her channel, but I did see a while back that she lost senses due to Covid. I thought of her today and searched out some videos just to see if she recovered. Glad to see she did!
Dragon fruit tastes like nothing in my opinion, but I love them! Lol!
I’ve got 1 small plant of pine berries. The berries you’re eating, aren’t fully ripe. Too crunchy. When they’re ripened properly, they’re very sweet and juicy. Just love them! I only get a few every year but that’s ok, I savour them! 😊❤️🇨🇦. Emmy, you should try making apple strawberry jam. Delicious!
when they’re fully ripe are they more pink or more white?
@@angelinaboone103 in my experience with them, when fully ripened (which sadly Emmy’s store bought ones weren’t) they mostly have a sweet flavor upfront that’s not super identifiable but I would say is related to strawberries but the flavor punch comes at the end, almost once you’ve swallowed the berry. The finishing tasting notes are definitely reminiscent of pineapple. They’re absolutely incredibly delicious berries when fully ripened!
@@Dinayounit11 They tend to look very pink when they're ripe.
These are also sometimes called golden strawberries. This is a good hint for sweetness when fully ripe they’re yellowish. And for fruits yellow color is very often a sign of higher sugar content. Like yellow fleshed watermelon.
Thank you for the tip. I just picked up some pineberries and they aren't sweet at all. Next time I will pick out yellowish ones.
yea I just ate some they taste terrible I'll give it some more time
Are you sure they're the same thing?
@@ponquin nope. Not same thing. But it is the internet so people believe it.
No. There are varieties of alpine strawberries that are yellow, white or red in color. The berries are usually cone shaped and the plants don't produce runners
Feels so good to hear that fruity fruits intro song again haha
Have you tried golden berries before? They're also called Peruvian ground cherries I think. Kind of sweet and tart and they look a lot like a small yellow/orange tomatillo. I found some at a local Aldi's recently and they're pretty good :)
Oh I love these! We call them uchuvas where I’m from, in Costa Rica.
I love them! I just bought seeds to try growing them myself.
Yes! Waaaay back I tried them: ruclips.net/video/1vb01-k3-jQ/видео.html.
I grew them and really like their taste and look!
@@emmymade Oh cool! I've watched you for years, but I missed that one! Thanks for the link!
Omg it’s been so long since a fruity fruits!! I love this series!! I actually just tried these berries last week!
At first I thought they were chilean white strawberries! But pineberries are a hybrid of a north american strawberry and the chilean white one, as I learned now motivated by your video :)
Here the native white strawberry is an endangers species so that's why I was so surprised to see them in the US.
Emmy, pine berrys are strawberries. A cultivar is just a variety like sparkle berry,or honeyo.
True, but I think it's fine to distinguish the two. Cauliflower and cabbage are different varieties of the same species too, yet we wouldn't refer to cabbages as cauliflower or vice-versa.
Pineberry isn't even a specific variety, but is just used in marketing to refer to white cultivars of garden strawberry in general. The white cultivars supposedly have hints of pineapple in their flavour, so they were called pineapple strawberries = pineberries. So yes, they are exactly what they look like: white strawberries
@@impastorr1354 distinguishing isn't the same as saying pineberries *aren't* strawberries. Pineberry is a marketing name from the early 2010's. Pineberry is a strawberry the same way a red cabbage is a cabbage.
Also, cabbage and cauliflower aren't equivalent examples for a lot of other reasons. Everything in the genus fragaria is called a strawberry but not everything in the genus brassica is called a cauliflower or cabbage.
@@shawnsg oop okay, my bad
Emmy, you should try the monstera fruit! It looks like a green ear of corn, but it is supposed to taste like all the tropical fruits combined.
I didn't know that plant grew fruit, cool.
We called it a fruit salad plant.
@@Quacking-Goose yes! There’s a reason why it’s called the Monstera deliciosa!
So sooo excited to see a new fruity fruits episode!!
Omigosh, yay!!! A new Fruity Fruits episode!! I love these!! Thank you, Emmy!! 💖💖💖
I think when fruit is white-ish in color the flavor is rather mild. I grow white blackberries (Snowbank) and they are very sweet and the birds do not touch them at all, but the flavor is not as complex and wonderful enough to put up with all of the thorns and root suckers that pop up several feet away.
i guess wouldn't they be called whiteberries
I love white blackberries. My sister had them growing in the backyard and I would have them for lunch. 😋
Wild blackberries will RIP YOU UP! 😄 Remember blackberry picking as a kid. We'd come back from picking berries bloody, purple and looking forward to the cobbler! 😋😋😋
@@TweetyPAK7 wait, the blackberries people cultivate have no thorns? Where is the fun picking them hahah
Birds only eat red strawberries and leave all my pineberries alone. However, bunnies love them and will eat any I do not harvest.
Always gotta click an episode of Fruity fruits! Nice to see you Emmy!
Emmy! I have really missed your fruity fruit videos!
OMG YAY!!!!! Just what I needed today!!!! I love Fruity Fruits and the song omg ❤ Thanks, Emmy!!!
You are so stellar at descriptions, Emmy!
I had these not too long ago. They were like a light strawberry flavor. Almost like those fizzy waters that are reminiscent but not by a lot of the thing they claim to taste like. That’s not a bad thing though, I like them
Oh my gosh my favorite series!!! I’m so excited 🎉
Emmy as the world takes darker turns i appreciate your sweet positive videos. Really appreciate your hard work. Love ya!
It’s a hybrid between two species of strawberry. In my book that makes it a strawberry. I don’t think it’s the same species involved as with the hybrid that’s the usual commercial strawberry, so one can argue that IT IS REALLY DIFFERENT but I’d say only a bit.
Actually, it is the same species involved; they're Fragaria ×ananassa (F. virginiana × F. chiloensis), just like all the regular red supermarket strawberries. It's just that the white fruited varieties have not been grown commercially for such a long time that they are now being introduced as a novelty.
I’ve missed the fruity fruits videos!! So happy to watch a new one
Haven’t heard this jingle in so long and i just felt a whole wave of nostalgia 😭
I found these at Aldi last summer! I wasn't that impressed. Also found Cotton Candy grapes there, too! I thought they were great!
I see them at Aldi here in Florida fairly often. Aldi is a weird mix of budget item and luxury ones…
@@markiangooley Good description!
My store got the cotton candy grapes in and I was super excited till I checked the label and found the flavor is added, the grapes had an ingredient list.
I’ve googled these because I wanted to know what they tasted like and I’m so glad Emmy decided to post this. She’s so descriptive, it’s like I’m eating them myself. Thank you!
Really interesting! Thank you, Emmy, I appreciate experiencing fruity fruits vicariously through your videos 😊
I just watched all of your Fruity Fruit videos yesterday!!! Wowww❤❤❤❤❤
I can't believe that I've tried these before you!! These are amazing!!❤🍓
I have absolutely MISSED this jingle so much. I smiled out loud 😉
I love your videos so much!
I love the Fruity Fruits series so much!
I've grown these for years. Here in North Texas weather, they take over my strawberry patch like weeds! They make so many runners like grass and can smother out your strawberry patch. I have to grow them separately now. They are known to taste like a cross between pineapple and strawberry. I've never seen them in the grocery store and those look pretty big! A fun different thing to grow! 🍓
This is seriously my favorite series
Yay! I love fruity fruits! Thanks Emmy🙏🍓🍍
Oh, how I've missed the fruity fruits theme song! 🎵 😍
Oh my I missed that fruity fruit intro 🫶🏻🫶🏻, great as always
I absolutely ADORE the fruity fruits theme song!
Ive been watching you for yrs and ive been away for awhile. So happy to hear the fruity fruits jingle😊
I LOVE THESE! Definitely try pine glow pineapples and lucy glo apples... YUM
Emmy I jumped for joy when I saw another fruity fruits video!!!
Oh I used to love these, fruity fruits x the music. The fruit, the educating
Omg the SECOND I saw the pineberry the Fruity fruits theme got shouted 🤣❤️ My boyfriend is confused but I am so excited!
Love your videos 💖
never seen these ones before!
great vid
Haven't had one of these in forever. My favorite videos
Love you Emmy
Awesome Video emmymade
I love the fruity fruits series 😊
I’m glad your taste is back!! I got the same thing around the same time (but early Dec) and it took my taste away. I was going nuts, trying to eat, but not wanting to go through the blandness of it all. When you made you video explaining I was just starting to get some taste back. 3.5 full months after it all started and I’m glad I can taste normal-ish. There are a few things that taste slightly less intense or with “distorted” flavor, but 99% is back!! It’s great to be back to “normal”! 😂
Yay I am so happy, another new one!!!
Nice to see you do taste tests again! I was struck down by COVID last week for the first time ever so I am at the end of it (I hope!). Things definitely taste off. It's like a can taste the minerals from the water in everything. I hope my taste fully goes back to normal though. I can't even enjoy a fried egg (my favorite).
Strawberry texture for sure but i think they taste slightly like pears. They’re delicious and a nice winter treat.
Another fun and fabulous fruit
Fruity fruits! I love this series!
re: pineapple. I've heard you know they're ripe when you can easily pull a leaf from the top. It shouldn't be falling off but give with a lil pop and come out when you pull.
I was just singing the fruity fruits song today, then you posted!
Thank you for sharing this video! I was at the grocery store a little while ago and came across the strawberries and I had to buy them because they looked just so interesting and then I went to Google what they were because I was under the impression also that maybe they were a cross between a pineapple mixed with a strawberry until I saw your video And I convinced that I’ll enjoy them especially if mine are as crunchy as yours! Thank you again for sharing the video. Have a blessed day and a good weekend.
I can’t believe I tasted a fruity fruit before Emmy! These are stinking delicious.
I love the song so much!!!
I bought these at Trader Joe’s last weekend. I agree about the flavors.
Wow. Just last night, I was watching one of your videos and thought about that Fruity theme song and wished there'd be another one. Then, lo and behold....
Emmy I’m so happy for you 🥰🥰🥰🥰
It was last Saturday that my sister and I was discussing how we miss Emmy's Fruity Fruits lol! Who'd knew she'd post one today after a loooong time ^^
I have some in the garden; they are so delicious and interestingly enough (I think) they need regular red strawberries nearby to cross pollinate as they are self sterile. The ones I have tasted had an intense strawberry flavour with a strong pineapple/citrus zing...but the benefit of growing them is that you can pick them when they are perfectly ripe - unless the birds get there first🙂
So glad you have your tastebuds back!
Have you ever tried that banana that’s supposed to taste similar to the artificial banana flavoring in sweets today? You can apparently buy them and I want to try one so badly lol
My family loves these pineberries. For Valentine's Day I dipped them in milk chocolate; delicious! Highly recommend.
I grew these in my garden this year! I didn’t get many but they where pretty tasty
I miss fruity fruits!!!
Best way to check a pineapples ripeness is to sniff the base. They should be really strongly fragranced. Then try to tug out a leaf from the rosette. If it comes out easily, it’s perfectly ripe.
Love your vids. I'd love to see you try Saskatoon berries. They are also sometimes called Service Berries but the best, full flavoured berries are found in the prairies, specifically the Canadian prairies. Saskatoons would be very hard for you to get I'd expect and of course fresh Saskatoon are the best but they are really great in pie form too.
Emmy! I kindly request wild plums for a Fruity Fruits episode! Growing up, my grandma had a wild plum tree in her yard and we made preserves out of them. They were SO good! ❤
fruity fruits!!! i missed that theme song so much!!! i didn’t know if this was still a thing!! my days been made 😌😌
Thank you. I never seen those; I will wanna try it.
Yay!!!! I missed the fruity fruits song!!!! I'm all for it! Let's learn about pineberries❤❤❤
Oh, how i’ve missed fruity fruits! now i want to go back and watch old episodes.
I love pineberrys so much! We get them all the time instead of strawberries. They are really good in smoothies 😋
I tried these for the first time a couple weeks ago. They were very good. Like a less intense strawberry. I’d buy them again.
The way I was taught to pick a pineapple - other than the obvious looking for bruising and making sure it’s “healthy” - was to try to pick it up by one of the inside leaves. If the leaf detaches instantly instead of lifting if a little, then it’s good and ripe and you should get it.
I tried one for the first time yesterday and immediately thought it tastes like a light strawberry with the texture of a kiwi, I liked it
I saw these in my grocery TODAY! I definitely should have grabbed them.
I literally just bought these at the grocery store yesterday! Haven't tried them yet :)
Hey Emmy, does anyone in your family ever feel like their mouth is burning from eating pineapple? Apparently some people are sensitive to the bromelain in them... Like myself. That's how I found out McDonalds strawberry banana smoothies have pineapple juice in them.
Same 😅
I had an ex that would get almost blisters in their mouth from pineapple
Someone said that pineapple is one of the few foods that digest you back lol. Enzymes are fun. Also why pineapple juice is a good meat tenderizer.
And typically, it’s only fresh pineapple that has the enzymes active enough to affect you. Canned or pineapple that’s been cut up already isn’t as strong. Also, don’t disregard that you could potentially be experiencing an allergic reaction, not just the bromelain
@@jordandavis2315 I forgot about fresh vs canned, you're right, it's why you can use canned pineapple in gelatin but not fresh. It won't set with fresh.
I'm happy to see you get back to fruity fruit segments would you consider trying to find black raspberries to do in your next fruity fruit segment?
I love this series. Hopefully, you can try mamey sapote which is a common fruit in Mexico with a very striking flesh (and pit) someday
Gosh I missed the fruity fruits videos 😍
I've wanted to try these since I was a kid!!!
You should taste “Pomarosa”. My grandmother had a tree in her backyard. We had a long stick to knock them down which was so much fun. One of the best memories of my childhood. Still my favorite fruit ❤
Thank you lord my baby Emmy can taste again 💗💗💗
Glad that you recovered your taste and smell
I've actually always preferred paler, under-ripened strawberries. They have such a delicate sweetness and juiciness to them. Very subtle and not overpowering. But I do love all strawberries for the most part!
And the crunch!
We love all your videos
We watch them every
Time you post them ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Best intro tune ever! 🍓 🍑
First time I've seen this channel, and I like it. I'm glad you explained the pineapple part of the name -- when I saw the title of the episode, I thought it meant that the berries tasted like pine trees! :-D Bet those berries would make a good jellied sauce for meats, or cut up in a salad. Have you ever tried one of those apples that is injected with grape flavoring? I couldn't get past the artificial smell.
I’ve been to a pineapple plantation in Costa Rica. This is what we learned: the leaves have nothing to do with ripeness. It doesn’t ripen off the plan. The sugars are fermenting. Cut and eat immediately. But any of them will be the same regardless of leaf appearance. You want to be able to hold it by a small bottom leaf. But otherwise it doesn’t make a difference!
Haha! I still love that fruit song so much.
I love how they look almost like white strawberries 🍓
i heaven't heard this song in such a while. this feels kind of nostalgic lol
With the pineapple, if you pull the very top center frond and it comes out easy with a pull, it means it's ripe. Hope you try it, and I love your videos.
Super easy to grow! This strawberry cultivar runners well. I grow them in Northern Illinois
Although, mine are not giant like the ones you have.
