- This is an interview of me from some time ago by the late Stan Pranin Sensei, Who founded Aikido Journal. Stanley and I had been friends for a long time. I was able to introduce him to a number of instructors that he was interested in meeting, Don Angier Sensei, Kuroda Tetsuzan Sensei and Mihail Ryabko, founder of Systema. Stanley was a researcher of excellent character and integrity, always looking for the truth. He is greatly missed.
Great interview, Mr Pranin can sure get the essence out of his subjects, and Mr Williams has a wealth of knowledge, Thank you for posting.
Looks to be a fantastic interview. Going to finish watching in a few.
Sir. Thank you for your insight.
Outstanding insight!
So, the cutting down and through your opponent creates a distance making a counter cut not possible? This is where the whole body connection concept is explored with many traditional Aikido systems. I would imagine cutting this way would also reduce the chances of getting your katana "Hung up" somewhere during impact.
18:00 👌🏼👌🏼 , i wonder if its same kind of mind set/state that bushi take when doing Kuji-No-In, the idea behind it
Good video. Thanks again for the valuable info. No offense but the volume sounded a bit muffled.
This was awhile ago. Much better tools for interviews now.
@@SystemOfStrategy 😉
@@SystemOfStrategy Do you remember what year Stanley came by for this interview?
@@alexscott730 Looking at the dojo maybe 2005 ish or so.
Not only about professional about commission as well I had to say it would seem to be very informative if one could understand what either man was saying... Acoustics horrible... Don't they ever go over the video prior to them posting?
Please take care of the sound quality in next video. But thanks anyway.
That was awhile ago, less sophisticated equipment.
He couldn’t roll out of it better because he threw the crap out of him. The technique worked as advertised.
a real samurai 😃
