Even though the Green line is already packed at rush hour, it makes sense to extend it into Lachine. Lasalle, Lachine, and Verdun combine for a lot of people & are neighbors, but they're not well connected to each other by public transit. It could meet up at the Dorval station and close the loop with the REM and the ATM station to be a natural hub.
It would make perfect sense to have the REM go to the Dorval Via/Exo rail station. The Quebec government doesn't have the moxie to bring it an extra 750 metres.
@@trainglen22 The alternative of continuing the REM into Lachine then turning East until Angrignon would work too - and be a whole lot cheaper than tunneling for the metro. Though as someone who lived in the area, I feel that continuing the metro west would be a better user experience.
@@trainglen22 I guess for the terminus they can carve out a corner of the southern parking lot of that mall on Dorval ave. These small regional malls are mostly dying, so buying the whole lot & using the rest for higher density housing wouldn't be a bad idea (unless if this one is still busy). The other stop in Lachine would probably be somewhere near the Lachine General Hospital.
I don't know why but it irked me when the Green and Blue lines didn't converge around Montreal Ouest and then went to the airport so that the center part of the island and the downtown had direct Metro access to it. I'm not even Montrealer haha
To be fair, we also failed to build other critical infrastructure such as a train between Dorval and Mirabel, and a decent highway between Dorval and Mirabel.
Right now, the only one in my list is a GO-ALRT thing. There probably will be other cities eventually (cough Vancouver) but nothing in the next few weeks.
for over a decade, I've been meaning to install my own Chapter 3 -- tackling the on/off region, i.e. -- yet transcribing (its handily-ready) historical introduction's still too daunting a tedium 👀
I'm abit curious on how you chose what was hypothetical or not? I haven't seen anything talking or suggesting about a blue line extension to the west. Although some errors like the extension to laval, it was a great video
I semi-randomly drew lines on a map. That's really it, though I was looking at density when making it. Also, I think the master plan in the 80s had a western Blue Line extension. (Edit) There was a line that came west off of the Orange Line at Lionel-Groulx towards Lachine
Cote Vertu station opened in October 1987 and blue line still ending at St-Michel. The extent to Anjou just started to be in construction. And orange line have been extended to Laval in 2007. Still no extension on orange line west side and yellow line still stop at Longueuil and never been extended Still no project for blue line west extension and nothing yet for green line west end
Plus sensé que bien des projets. Mais Montréal-Nord reste isolé, même plus qu'avec le projet originel des années 60, avec la ligne 3 qui n'a jamais été construite.
the MTC published an error: St-Michel wasn't ready on time...it had been used as an _arrière gare_ though with d'Iberville as the terminus...plus I don't believe it'd even opened up at the same time as Parc, it might've been the one to have opened earlier...plus de l'Acadie is indeed the youngest station along that line by several months' time. We pair of yobs encountered the hot rockface that, nonethless, had been contracted to have the lining poured within two feet of it, altogether about 200 metres -west- *east!* of U-de-M stn...so hot, you couldn't palm it longer than 3 seconds' time, plus the heat & humidity were apparent beyond the west portal to Edrd-Mntptt, which was cavernously open to that frigid -27°C February-1982/3(?) night...and engineering difficulties is how the mumness has been about the delayed commissioning of that long western segment...oh! and the 1st time we were down there, the west track to the long St-Laurent-Blvd spur stabled approximately 28 tellingly-abandoned MR-63 wagons with a smattering of MR-73'ers at the north. ;)
pink lines kinda useless tbh, its not connected to the city center and people would have to transfer to get there, only adding more pressure to the green and blue lines
After three years, my views have changed (a bit), and I have to agree with you - the modern Pink Line napkin proposal would probably have been better than what I drew 3 years ago.
months' mumness @ REM's making wonder me wonder whether glitchiness be hampering pension funding, what with financial destruction @ the panoramic horizon

They will never bring the Metro west to Cavendish or Montreal West. The CAQ government and the Mayor Plante minions would never allow it

@@WhiskyCanuck actually, it could work. Only thing is where would it be built in Lachine?

Gosh I'd love to have such an extensive metro in my lifetime. Montréal is a fantastic city and the metro is so important to it.
You think this is extensive? Check out metros in Tokyo, San Francisco and New Delhi
@@Rig558those cities population are higher than the Montréal .
If Jean Drapeau was alive and Quebec was less corrupt, this would have been a thing

LOL. Can't propose transit too fast, that's illegal in Canada

Hell yes we definintely more metro coverage outside of the island of Montreal, ESPECIALLY in Laval
What are cities are you planning on doing hypothetical evolutions for?

whyd you wait till 2016 to show the opening of the laval section? it was open by 2007
Honestly, I just forgot about it when I planned the video.
u gonna inspire me to make a video like this one day.

What application are you using for the animation?
I do video editing with Shotcut

Rem to the airport???
RIP the pink line and RIP REM l'est (which you forgot to put in this video)
Well, I did, kind of.
Oui pour le prolongement de la ligne jaune sur la rive sud (Longueuil)!

Your yellow line does not exist beyond Longueuil.
It’s a “What If” type of video
Way too slow paced.
I thought that montmorency will be on 2008 but in this timeline nope
If you really want to know, I forgot about it and decided to be lazy and insert it later.
I thought it started in 1966
The real thing starts in 1966, but my imagination/delusion starts in 1977

That pink line is so fucking useless😂😂😂
I made three years ago, and I agree with this view now. LOL
terrible music
It's just stock music I find on the RUclips Studio. Better than nothing, and there's not really any emotions to convey 🤷
