Simply one of the greatest rock 'n roll songs ever recorded. Speaking of gospel, even Luther Vandross covered this and his version was great, too. This song is iconic and stands as one of the top 20 songs of my lifetime. Could not get enough of it when it was out.
Ace you mentioned that you liked the choir. The choir has some big names. Even though this was from Stephen's first solo album the choir includes David Crosby and Graham Nash, Stills's fellow members of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Also providing the backups are Rita Coolidge, her sister Priscilla Jones, and John Sebastian of the Lovin Spoonful.
Slam dunk on the organ shatters the backboard! I remember hearing this on the AM radio in my dad's truck when I was a little kid tagging along on side jobs. Roses and eagles caught my attention. The staccato vocal line hearkens back to "Marrakesh Express", an earlier hit for Crosby, Stills & Nash. I remember hearing that in the old truck too. Rita Coolidge, David Crosby, Priscilla Jones, Graham Nash, John Sebastian on backing vocals, so yep. Classic. And to turn from that into that organ break ... iconic. The sixties lingered into the seventies for quite a few years. Billy Preston gave Stills the idea for the lyric and Stills comes about as close to sounding like him on the organ as anybody ever has. PS. Also check out "Carry On" by Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Years ago , when I was a professional wine taster , there was a group of us wine lovers who would regularly get together and taste a bunch of really good to great wines .One of the guys used to say when tasting at least one , often more , of the wines , ' OH god , I LOVE THIS WINE , IT'S MY FAVORITE WINE IN THE WHOLE WORLD " .after a while whenever he would say that I would start singing " Love the One You're With " and he would say " I admit it , I'm a wine whore . I love them all ".
Check out more from Stephen when he was with Crosby and Nash. "Wooden Ships" is an amazing song about war but classic Stephen is "For what it's worth". Buffalo Springfield was my first concert ever in 1965 and they set the bar high!🔥🔥
This is one of my favorite albums, with all star artists playing on it: Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Booker T. Jones, Ringo Starr. Background vocals include Graham Nash, Rita Coolidge, Cass Elliot, David Crosby and John Sebastian. Other Stills songs to check out: Change Partners, Church (Part of Someone), We Are Not Helpless, Colorado, So Begins the Task and Johnny's Garden. Stills is one of the greats!
Well yeah possibly, but we were young people back then! Love, Peace, Bell bottoms and Hippie juice!!! No excuses, they were crazy years, anything seemed possible!! Anyway back to 2024!!...
Another great song by Stephen Stills is Drawn To A Flame. It is very mellow and dreamlike!
Love Stephen Stills - so underrated all around, singing, playing and writing. Try his solo song = TREE TOP FLYER

One of my all time favorite songs by Stephen Stills.

Of course, it's not your cow! We know your cow would never do that! Love your videos, Ace!

Stephen Stills was in Buffalo Springfield and of course Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
Peace...Love...and....Happiness good times remembered. thank you
Stills uses many non-standard open guitar tunings. He's fantastic and, it's weird to say, I think underrated.

aah....life in the seventies. great memories!
Indeed, but personally mine are a little bit patchy!!....
Stills catalog is a very deeep rabbithole...
❤❤❤
It was the dreaded "last call for alcohol" tune for years-- I always made my leave right about then!
Hello Ace!
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young? I know Neil Young did solo stuff, wasn't aware the others did.
Today's music has no soul.
If you can't be with the one you love..............cheat on them
that's what it sounds like hes saying to me, kinda pathetic!
Well yeah possibly, but we were young people back then!
Love, Peace, Bell bottoms and Hippie juice!!!
No excuses, they were crazy years, anything seemed possible!!
Anyway back to 2024!!...
Cow? I can't hear it, we need more cow... hopefully it's name is Bell.
