LEGO: Everything is NOT awesome.

We love LEGO. You love LEGO. Everyone loves LEGO.
But when LEGO's halo effect is being used to sell propaganda to children, especially by an unethical corporation who are busy destroying the natural world our children will inherit, we have to do something.
Children's imaginations are an unspoilt wilderness. Help us stop Shell polluting them by telling LEGO to stop selling Shell-branded bricks and kits today.
Greenpeace is calling on LEGO to end its partnership with Shell to Save the Arctic.

It means, ultimately in the end the darkness will swallow everything whole. It cannot be outlasted, out maneuvered or outsmarted.

Ok now you can cry.
By partnering with shell, LEGO was supporting shell, the ones trying to drill the arctic, with money from the shell lego sets being sold. By dropping their contract with shell, shell no longer receives a portion of sales from those lego sets and therefore has less money to spend on their oil drilling operations.
AWSOME !!!!!!
Litterly no one cares. Do you know how bad plastic is for the earth?? I mean I love Lego, but this was so dumb. Lego lost a big money grab aswell as awesome set oppertunities because of your bitching.

Like my V8.
^^This guy ;D
why do you need a V8? perhaps if americans lost weight they would get around just as fast with half as many cylinders and get 2x mpg
burnzy3210 Newsflash: A car having a V8 does not mean it's not fuel efficient. For example, the 2014 Corvette Stingray gets 28 mpg, which is comparable to many 4 cylinder cars that are on the market. And why do we need a V8? We like cars that have balls, big horsepower & torque. That Corvette I mentioned pumps out 450 horsepower and 460 ft. lbs of torque, which is a whole lot more than Toyota is squeezing out of 4 bangers that get 28 mpg. So, when you break it down, that V8 in the Corvette is using fuel to generate horsepower to move the car more efficiently than those 4 bangers are, which means, essentially, that the Corvette is better for the environment than a Toyota Corolla.
And really? Fat American jokes? I'm an American, I'm 6' 3" and I weigh 175 lbs. Not all of us are fat. Grow up.
burnzy3210 ^^ What that guy said. Plus what makes you think I'm American? And what makes you think I'm overweight? And if you hate big engines so much why are you gushing about big engined cars all over your page?
Paul McGuire power of deduction and likelyhood brings to assume you're american. only in america do 4 cylinders get such poor mpg, i remember seeing the fiesta being launched over there and people shit themselves over 40mpg, that's nothing, my 2001 car gets 45mpg. onto the point of getting good mpg out of that 450bhp corvette, its not getting that mpg when its making 450bhp its getting that when its running on 4 cylinders, that's GM tech that's been around for a little while now, learn your shit. also i'm not saying ALL americans are fat but they have a reputation and statistics to back up the fact that they're fat so don't even bother trying to argue against it
Well that was depressing

This video made me sad, but the comments here made me feel so bad about humanity. So many heartless people.
True, i do not know why people just say "we have more important things to solve", yes we do, but why all the hate towards those who move toward a better, stable environment, it might not be something urgent but we should probably deal with it before cities like New York and other coastal cities are flooded with a few feet of water. It's all about prevention, why not do it if you can ?
Very few of us think wider than the tiny circle around us .... not acknowledging that even the tiny acts that might seem ineffective such as using less plastics actually count. We tend to be drawn with fast tidal wave of our daily life with its problems and difficulties to a degree which made us think of issues such as the environment as "none of my business" or "even If I change it won't matter".
However there are still those who think of the environment and this planet as they daily life issues and still seeing this planet as our home not only the apartment they live in somewhere.....
Mohamed Bakr But why do we even have to use oil? Just run really fast like me and my ninja friends!

I guess the ends do justifie the means sometimes. On the other hand, there are many uf us who find it very, very sad and upsetting whenever devastating oil spills happen, (and believe me, they do happen!), even more in the arctic!
One word, why?
It's a toy company that was using a brand. No kid is gonna be like "Woah Lego made a partnership with shell, welp, time to throw everything in the ocean and melt ice now."
Basically, the point isn't kids imitating Shell, it's Shell getting a cut of the profits made from Legos with their branding, which funds them polluting the ocean.
Its the toy company itself supporting shell, which is bad.

Ezee Lawrenson Well Shell doesn't use their oil for making legos and plastics, do they. DO THEY?!
Boy, plastic is used for almost everything nowadays. It's cheaper than most things (like metal, for instance), and it's easy to make stuff out of it.
This whole "Shell is Hell" thing is plain stupid. Because drilling for oil is a good thing. Cars run on oil, people make LEGO out of oil, and what do you think the camera is made out of? Plastic. Oil is plastic. Blah blah blah.
Besides, Greenpeace is fucking stupid. Shell isn't polluting kids minds. I haven't seen a kid hijack an airplane and crash it into the arctic.
Go ask a kid what Shell does to him/her, he/she would say, "I don't care, old man"
That ends this long ass comment.
It is a step up for Shell and LEGO to have ended their partnership. But we still have a lot to do to save the Arctic. Reducing fossil fuels as much as possible and planting as much trees as we can.
As for the animals, we always have sanctuaries to keep them safe and sound.

The Karma For When You Step On A LEGO...
I didn't even know that Lego was partnered with Shell, so how is a child going to know that and why would they even care?
That's the point. Greenpeace are trying to shame anyone that works with Shell, instead of letting it go unnoticed.
If the brand is inserted in toys, the brand is associated consciously or unconsciously with fun and good things.
This isn't aimed at children, though, it's aimed at communities. You're right. Children don't care. But other people do.
Tony Jeffree Probably got mad or something at them for doing something wrong :/
The point isn't anything to do with kids, it's about money.
Each Lego set with Shell's branding on it puts money into Shell's pocket, funding them polluting the oceans. The point is "Stop funding pollution"
Sorry greenpeace but you're a little late..
They haven't been selling those shell branded sets for years?
And Lego is made of oil itself.. So you're basically wanting them to get rid of their product and their partnership forever? Nice move.
And if you didn't notice green peace uses oil in their boats, cars, you name it and where does that come from? GASP *PLOT TWIST* THE ENVIROMENT.
It not against oil. It's against drilling for it in the Arctic.
Mkay
GENERAL: You guys are fucking idiots... Yes Greenpeace wants Lego to break it's partnership with Shell, or at least get Shell to stop digging in the Arctic..
Rocky Roxay: Also yes Greenpeace uses oil ALOT, but this is only because oil companies are not funding other sources of power. (Hydro, Wind, Solar, etc[SOLAR POWER ALONE could give the world 5x the power it uses if we just set up solar roads and solar panel roofs wherever possible]) Mainly because oil has a great profit behind it, whereas the other sources of power are almost self sufficient.
Sporeboy100: Also are you fucking kidding me... This is not just about animal rights, this is about the fact that when you are drilling for oil you damage the environment as in, ice melting causing water levels to rise and weather conditions to intensify. As well as Arctic conditions(Snow and Ice) are formed in a beautiful way which is destroyed by drilling.
The reason large companies can pretty much do what they want is because of the ignorant people like you lot who don't think about what they are doing and the side affects they are causing -_-
Tristan Williams LEGO isn't digging in the arctic, or fracking, or threatening adorable arctic animals. They are legally using the Shell Logo to make models of things in real life that have the Shell Logo on them. Or rather they were a very very long time ago. The LEGO Group doesn't have any ability to dictate Shell's Corporate Policy and if LEGO stops paying for the Shell trademark it won't stop Shell from doing a damned thing. Because there are TENS of THOUSANDS of gas stations worldwide that pay shell many many times the amount of money The LEGO group does annually to use their logo.
I have not seen a shell branded Lego toy set in freakin years and that's what they seem to be implying In the video.. "Destroying child's imaginations with shell branded sets" so technically they're giving false information.. Pretty sure they ended the parternship? Heck, I haven't even heard of shell + Lego? as much as I want oil spilling to stop ruining the ocean, I think LEGO has NO control over what shell does. They're just looking for a well known brand to accuse. They're starting to use a alternative Plastic soon too.

How can I put this as nicely as possible? That fact people made this video for Lego makes me laugh.
Lego is plastic. Plastic is made up of oil. Oil is what Shell gets. Shell gives the oil to Lego to make the toys they need. Whoever made this clearly didn't do enough research.
I came here to spread the word to all of you. I mean no hate. But seriously do your research if you're to tell the world to stop!

sooo to all the people who support this,i understand your cause but dont be hypocritical you cant possibly tell me that you've never been to a shell gas station? or any gas station for that matter? heck even using public transportation your still paying the city to buy fuel for its fleet of vehicles if you dont have your own. guess what unless you walk everywhere you go youv contributed to what shells doing if youv ever lived worked or gone to school in any type of structure thats hooked into the power grid which is mainly powered by coal plants then
YOU TO have contributed!! if your commenting on this your on a computer or a phone/device that uses electricity and YOU TO have contributed so stop bashing on shell because unless you trade your daily life for a life of living in the wilderness and surviving on the land you will always be a part of this there's nothing we can really do to stop this except to give up our way of life as we know it so unless your willing to move your loved ones outv your house or apartment and into a tent in the forest you have know right to blame shell
Just because we make use of fossil fuels doesn't mean we don't desperately desire an alternative source of energy to be introduced to the world. Sadly, the existing infrastructure supporting gas, oil, and the like, is so well-established that (from what i've seen) nobody is willing to make the capital investment to help lessen our dependency on them. Yes, we use them, mostly because they're the most lucrative option for those in charge.
Reductio ad absurdum, much? Gee wiz man. This movement isn't supposed to be about preaching a life free from energy, it is about raising awareness of the consequences of fossil fuels and pushing towards alternate forms of energy that are far less devastating. To be human is to pollute the world. Everyone knows that.
I was speaking specifically on lessening our dependence on fossil fuels, not electicity production itself. An attempt at living entirely without energy would be asinine. I can see how my comment can be misinterpreted, but I support cleaner energy alternatives, not a life in the dark.
Ah. It would appear i'm too self-absorbed to consider that possibility lol

***** Umm, we're not going to die because some sort of black goo, that comes in like a Tsunami, drowns us.
hourglass529m Honestly I thought it would be a cool animation. Unfortunately I got this.
Let's be honest here, they actually used water with black food coloring.

If you are reading this, you are blessed with gunna.

'And now you know never to use coca-cola on lego' because it will be... very sticky.
So everyone understands, my comment is only a joke it's not to be offensive towards green peace. and p.s Lego did shell sets ages ago so... have a think about that.
? you laugh because green peace buy to much coca-cola to spill all over lego? ok that is funny :D + :3
You do realize its not fizzing? And its much more thick than coke its obviously something like ink
correct correct my good man. smarter than me indeed ;)
MeMe Kiryu
AHA!yes yes 2 things that black stuff might be, 1: ink 2: TAR TAR! (i wish it was cokey cola)
they need to edit in the new everything's not awesome song from the lego movie 2
Green-PEACE, I don't think drowning toys in oil is sign of peace
okay... arguement about... everything in this video aside...
can we talk about how insanely effective and emotional this video is?
Yess
bruh thats the whole point of this video
Hey, octan Is now electric in lego
@@Danny-us6utnot liking it
The last thing a kid will think about when playing with legos, is how awesome Shell is, when they may not even know what they do.
I don't even think the average kid would know Lego is partnered with Shell!
Lego only produces shell products as collectors items and in Hong Kong... So many children
so why would shell spend millions to get promotion by lego then? you have to draw the connection. shell uses lego and the kids to make more money with their dirty business.
filmkonnex What kind of inspiration do you think a kid would get more out of legos, just by the things you can build with many of their sets?
1) Race car Driver
2) Pilot
3) Architect
4) Fireman
5) Policeman
6) Oil company associate
7) Etc.
***** The point is they're using LEGO's reputation as a beloved children's toy to boost their own rep. "Hey, LEGO trusts us! Let us drill!"
This made me cry when I was six years old and I’m coming back after 7 yrs of not seeing this video which has over 8 million views as of December 2021 and it still kinda makes me sad seeing the whole lego world being flooded with very polluted oil
Oh look, a fellow Angry Birds Fan!
Lego is made from plastic, plastic is made from oil. See the convenient business circle?
I gotta know who made this cover of everything is awsome cause i swear it sounds beautiful
Same!!!
NO THE HUSKYS!
;-;
Husky!
LETS GET A BUZZ LIGHTYEAR
Way to completely avoid the real problem, Greenpeace. Removing the Shell logo from a few lego product lines wont do a damn thing for the environment. But i guess making a useless video like this is easier than going out and doing something about the problem.
They're not interested in the environment, they're interested in donations. They want to remain relevant and well received, even though they are involved in all manner of unlawful and unethical deeds themselves.
Spreading false information, maritime piracy, etc. If they were really interested in "saving the planet" they wouldn't be doing these things. They're not interested in the environment though, all they're interested in is staying relevant so they keep receiving donations.
Oil is never going away. It makes plastic, medical supplies are made from plastic. Greenpeace are lunatics considered terrorist in many nations. In their minds, those babies in hospitals don't need oil plastic respirators, fuck em'.
Sad to hear there are still stupid people who don't understand the consequences of an oil spill in Arctic. More stupid to think Greenpeace don't care about the environment. Go to school, learn... educate!
Jameson Jokers That is a complete, invalid stretch of the message that Greenpeace is trying to send. They're not saying, "ABOLISH OIL! Who needs plastic?". Not at all! Nor are they hammering LEGO, like everyone says. Instead, they are requesting our backing in telling LEGO to stop supporting Shell, and their abhorrent methods of drilling oil. One can imagine that much of Shell's revenue comes from LEGO, and by removing LEGO's backing, we are weakening the support base for an oil company that is directly destroying the ice caps and the delicate ecosystems that they harbor.
I think the point of this video is to stop big corporations downplaying the unaccountable harm they do to the environment - "Look at us, we are toys! we do no harm, you grew up playing with us! Trust us unconditionally because we are your childhood friends!". Think bubble gum in the shape of the cigarettes before they were banned no to minimize the concept of how harmful they are.
Okay look what greenpeace did was stupid. They tried to avoid kids from horrific things and crap but the shell boss here is smoking, like wtf ?? All Lego did was like release a few gas stations And ferrari cars. I remember me and my friends as kids and many other young ones watched this and that smoking dude was waayy more dark then this controversey
I have those sets somewhere in my house
Everyone on New Years last year: Wow 2020 finna be a great year!!
2020:
Why did they drown Hedwig in oil???!!!!!
WIZARDCREEPER19 Ikr!
WIZARDCREEPER19 because Lego use the oil of Shell to make toys!
I now R.I.P head wig
Camii Fernandez no lego is not make out of oil
Jakob Lent it is
Wow...this is sad....and by sad I mean....how could you drown LEGOs in oil?!
I know right, I was feeling really depressed... because they wasted perfectly good LEGO!
I agree
Plus all the sad faces and the cute wolves made it incredibly depressing so
SCREW SHELL
That wasent real oil if it was its not a waste because it sends a good message to gas companies I no oil isn't bad but it is when it is used for gas BTW think with your brain
Fir3red thats the point i guess, when in small perspective we feel bad that they ruined lego but in reality no one stops to see how the world is getting in this state, i hate hippy shit but this really got me thinking heh

Glaze and Mic: *Flies and grabs Emmet and Wyldstyle*
Mic: We got you.
Emmet: Phew. Thanks. Those Shell guys really stink. Our world is not a dump.
Glaze: We know. That's why Lego must end their partnership with Shell. Pollution is bad for the enviroment.
Wyldstyle: Really?
Glaze: Really. Now let's get you two to a safe place.
congrats you predicted Lego movie 2
If lego is partnered with shell, kids aren't even going to pay attention to that. "Hey I got a present! I'm going to see who made the plastic for it, 'cause that is the most interesting moment!
I like your MARVEL shirt
