Good advice. I'm in the UK, moved from driving a van to running a trucking company with 25 employees. I always say go for it if you want to, but like you say, there is a lot of back office stuff that either you have to do or you have to pay someone to do. I've seen many people fold and go back to being a company driver because it suits them better, and there's nothing wrong with that.

How long will it take to buy a truck starting at a company job with no experience?
That definitely varies. You could buy a truck whenever you are ready but I recommend being a company driver at least a year first

Low End 40k - 300k new
The word you left out is MAINTENANCE! Not if but when sump'em happens! Especially on these new trucks! Man give me $1200.00 to $1800.00 after taxes & 401k & benefits & be home everyday & off on weekends or whatever schedule you like and its a pretty cool job? Man ain't nothing like doing your post trip, turn in your paperwork & hanging that truck key & clipboard on that hook & clock out & walk out that door heading home knowing you've made a nice check & got sick days & PTO stored up & your 401k maxed out & maybe an IRA & money in the bank & decent health care benefits. I don't have to get up & go work on my truck on my off days or deal with any maintenance no matter how small it is, i'm off! Once your an owner operator, that truck comes first! Ain't no laying up on Saturday morning & eating Fruit Loops🤣 You're either working on the truck or doing paperwork or chasing loads! Don't get me wrong about working on your truck. You stay on top of maintenance so you can stay off the THE HOOK🪝😳 As long as you stay on top of your maintenance then yes you can relax. Sometimes you will get tired of trucking & throw the keys behind the sofa & get outta dodge! But then you can't wait to see ol'girl & fire her up & tickle her fenders🤣 That's what a 1996 W900L 3406e 550hp 5ek block Cat does anyway🥰🤣 New drivers have to understand that being a successful Professional owner operator is not a just a job or a hobby, it's a way of life & a life style that you take pride in! Not wearing flip flops on the loading dock wear skinny jeans & doo rag...maaaan let me stop🤣 And stop taking your damn 30 min break at the fuel pump you inconsiderate bastards😡 ✌🏿😁
