That is why you always always pre-plan. Your route don’t rely on GPS.

One thing that is crucial is to carry a (truck) Atlas! Very important when you are in states where you have no cell phone connection, such as Wyoming, Montana and especially Oregon as on a non STAA route the maxumim length is 48' , the Atlas will tell you that. An Atlas has a lot of important info, STAA truck routes, low clearance and other national network routes for trucks. Second, have a CB radio! All drivers should, there is a chance you can get help. We've had drivers ask where we are going and warn us of roads not to take. It's free to have a CB there is no reason not to. Lastly, ask for directions from locals, but remember they are not thinking about being 75' long so keep that in mind. Good video all around for entry level drivers. Common sense is by far the best thing as you said, it would prevent many, many accidents.

See I love when truckers make these type of videos. Very informative and helpful.

East Coast is riddled with low bridges and Truck restrictions, hence why I stay west of the Mississippi for the most part, that being said google maps and trucker path app can be a life saver 👍…. Use more then one gps if possible…..
