    Cascadias have the manual mode shift as well. Prime just locks you out of it just like preformance mode. With 2 trucks I went over to the tractor shop to have them turn manual mode on and they never gave me a hard time. Never asked about Preformance mode. Ive ran it once in my new truck and i didnt see enough change so Ive always kept it back in economy.

    With the wipers that’s completely backwards for me, although I’m in a KW T680 here at prime. The freight liners as soon as you went over speed 3 with wipers it shut off cruise also always turned on the head lights. My KW I can go max wipers and never turn the cruise off or turn my lights on. I really wish I could buy this truck!

    It seems there's a lot of customization to be had on the BCUs and ECUs found in these trucks. On this KW I'm in, it's an option in the customization menu whether or not the cruise remains on with wiper activation. It can be set to shut the cruise off with wiper activation - though you can flick it on and off briefly to clear the windshield without triggering it - or to remain on even with wiper use. I usually leave it set to turn off with wiper use since it's not a good idea to drive in heavy rain with cruise on anyway.
    One thing I've noticed with this KW is it chronically forgets user customized settings, then you have to go through and set everything the way you want it again. So someone somewhere at PACCAR must not know what they're doing with regards to memory management or something along those lines.
    I agree that the build quality is far above that of Freightliner. This is somewhat ironic since Freightliner is basically Mercedes-Benz. I would expect more from MB given their reputation for quality.

    • @blkcobra03
      @blkcobra03 4 месяца назад +1

      Why is it not good to drive in heavy rain with cruise on? I've been driving for 40 yrs and never had a problem or felt unsafe with it on during heavy rain. It's not like I had my right foot on the dash or laying on the passenger seat so far away from the brake pedal that would cause an issue.

    • @chappy2121
      @chappy2121 16 дней назад

      Think the cruise issue is to do with standing water. If your wipers are on the higher level, there's more rain and more chance of standing water. Supposedly a bad idea running cruise in those conditions. I've personally never had an issue though

    The only thing I don’t like is the Pete’s that Prime orders seem to be the ugliest ones. They don’t put the black side skirts and the gap in between cab and fuel tanks is like a mile long. Other companies like DOT have some really nice Pete’s.

    Only thing I wish peterbilt had was a Murphy bed option! I’m seriously considering going back to FL for that option alone. I love the ride of my kw most everything on this truck. I wish they would give us more HP 400 is just not enough. The Pete’s have 455HP not sure why prime does it that way. There’s pros and cons to both, right now it’s a tough decision on which one to buy. A year ago I would’ve said only Pete never a FL, now I’m not so sure. I hope Pete’s are more reliable than they used to be. My KW with X15 has been extremely reliable! I’m also planning to order a manual so the weird e coast will no longer be a concern for me.
