It will sound strange, but I felt so depressed this morning, felt like a failure and decided to watch this video. After watching it I just went to "shop my closet". And I felt like a thousand times better. Ashley has this ability to just calm me down and inspire me for little changes. Feeling grateful.

I love that you added that important tip to the end about not thinking one needs to have it all or go out & buy everything! Such an important message esp for younger audience. Creativity comes in the form of developing one’s own style from the clothing already in existence by simply bringing in one of the elements you’ve discussed. I love this! I've been feeling in a rut with my outfits lately, and tend to buy something with one look in mind and then I can't think outside the box to figure out other ways to wear it. This definitely helped!!
The big hair bows were popular in the 1980's just like the pleated high waist jeans and shoulder pads. Talk about doing a vintage vibe! You can find lots of vintage at thrift shops

Q: my mom always told me with jewelry never wear earrings and a necklace at the same time, it’s too much. Necklace and bracelet ok,or earrings and bracelet is ok. It’s crazy but I still follow it. Do you have any style tips you learned from your mom or grandparents? My dads advice was always “don’t know what to wear? Call tommy, hilfigure it out” lol 😂

My mum always told me that it was OK to wear earrings, and a bracelet, but if you choose the bracelet, do not add a necklace; one or the other, not both, otherwise you end up looking like a Christmas tree. She also instilled in me 'never ask anyone how much their jewellery cost...it is vulgar!' Funnily enough, I have been asked several times when wearing new jewellery how much it cost (which frankly shocks me). I always respond with my mum's words, which embarrasses them into silence 🤫

I really like your 'how to' videos and I use your tips all the time. My outfits look much better, I feel more put together and I get plenty of compliments. There is a lot of stuff in my closet, so I don't go&buy, just get the inspiration from you and use what I have.

I enjoyed your video, especially at the end where you reminded people to look in their closet first, prior to purchasing more items. This tip is so underrated. Many 'new' outfits can be created from what is already there with just a little extra imagination.

You're so right. People will not always agree with the mixing of prints. However, when people see how confident you are it usually sends a signal that brings people to think they can step out their comfort zone. I mix plaids and stripes sometimes and even will wear leopard print loafers with a plaid outfit. It looks super chic when you do it and feel confident💕🙏🏾 Love your style/channel!

Kamille King it does make sense how tentative she would be to do that. Not only are people absolutely nasty, drama channels might also pick up any tiny thing and blow it out of proportion.
I wish people could look at things with logic instead of feelings. Feeling are important, but shouldn’t burden people to the extent they do today. It is a good thing sometimes, but mostly the screaming just adds to sadness and overall contributes to the heavy wrong that’s in the world.
You are what you put yourself out there to be. You are the sum of your actions, no matter how large or small.

First video I've ever watched of yours and love it. Please have confidence in what you're doing and don't doubt your styling! Would love some videos on styling vintage pieces and where to find and what to look for. I'm always suck on if it's a great vintage classic piece or looks a little cuckoo and dated.
Awesome video! I think also, it'd be cool to do a 'how to care for your clothes' video. How to find quality vs fast fashion, how to buy shoes that can be resoled, how to care for vintage bags (conditioning, repairs, etc). It'd be kind of in line with your sustainability goals you were talking about a few months ago, but also in line with your wear vintage and classics themes.

I wear smokey eyes and bright lips to work... but I’m a hairstylist so it fits the vibe of my work. Now If I was in a different office setting, maybe not. Depends on the job!

Also totally get the “downgrade”, this year I’m living in a modern high-rise, after my lease is up I’m considering a “downgrade” to start saving to purchase a home. This actually isn’t a downgrade at all! We are making careful choices about our finances to upgrade our lives at the next level! Keep doing you, love it!

Loved transparency, definitely agree with the inspirations, I also worked in the fashion industry and get what you mean. One must deff look in their closets first before going to buy something. It's all about smart styling. A simple mix of things can really go along way.

Love your style ! I think you are THE RUclips who started the RAW HEM denim trend over the net. I have always followed similar style rules and I don't like the false lash trend going on, one of the things I would never wear is a false lash. Women used to look so beautiful without these foundations and lashes etc. !

“Shop your closet,” I’ve never heard anybody else say that, but I love to pair outfits in my wardrobe in advance. I was thinking today how to make myself carry a little more credibility and style came to mind then I found your video. I So I think this sort of style I can carry for the rest of my 20s up to early 40s- which means investing in nicer pieces that are staple worthy and “micro trends.”
Also like the vintage recommendation because I grew up only able to shop in thrift stores & couldn’t afford the mall until I was on my own. So it feels nice seeing people who look fantastic wear second hand and Upcycle items - it used to be embarrassing for me.
I’m overly feminine sometimes so it was good to see the bulky items I wouldn’t understand how to carry them - and styled in a really sharp way.

Love the plaid skirt and striped top. Mixed prints are great, if done well, like your outfits. The two prints have to have most colors in common, and be of different scales.

I'm not in your age group at all, I'm probably 15-20yrs beyond, yet I really appreciate and enjoyed this video. When I was in my teens and 20's I thought that people over 40yrs knew everything. ....well, we don't! 🤭 Sometimes because life goes by fast, "style wise," one can feel a bit out of sync.
