If you enjoy tile laying, check out Camargue. I believe it was just released at Essen Spiel. Quick turns and interesting scoring but still accessible. I enjoyed it more than Carcassonne.
Akropolis is a great gateway to tile laying games. So simple to teach and learn. And there's enough depth to the strategy to keep it interesting for seasoned gamers.

I 💖💖💖 River Valley Glassworks! I recently bought it, and I'm so glad. I live in Western North Carolina where we had severe damage ftom Hurricane Helene. Our house wasn't damaged, but we didn't have power or water for two weeks. I'm an associate school teacher, and we are just going back this week, kids start the 28th. But I digress - I played so many solo games of River Valley Glassworks - the solo portion is well thought out and offers different challenges. And if I ever get the chance to buy the upgraded version, I'm grabbing it! I'll donate mine to the school 😉. I really want to try Cafe Baras too, thanks for the review!
Great list! I haven't played many but your descriptions made me want to. I've only played River of Gold on BGA, but it is a fun game. I'd love to run a board game cafe in the future too👍 I don't know if I'd be very good at it, but it sounds like a fun retirement plan to me.
Some interesting sounding games there that I would like to try like Cafe Baras. I recently got River of Gold and have enjoyed it a lot. I wouldn’t say it is light weight…more like lighter side of medium. I hope Alicia enjoys it too! Thanks for the nice video!
