BlackBoardGaming | Board Game Giveaway & Questions Answered...And A Surprise For Alicia!
So glad to connect again!! 😊
Great video, Dwayne. I was also at PAXU with my friends. We didn't cross paths or I definitely would have said hello and thank you. Sorry to hear about your incedent, but you do have the right attitude and I applaud it. Edit: Yeah, man, you went to Becks! They have good Po-Boys. I'm from NOLA. Take good care.
@@jtsiren1676 thank you! What was your favorite game at Pax?
@blackboardgaming5348 There were a couple of good ones. I stopped by the Saashi booth to pick up 2 games, that was great. I enjoyed playing Tiger and Dragon from the library and Babylon in the first look area. Cities demo was a good time with friends. It was also nice to see Red Raven, say hello again, and buy some merch.
So jealous you got to play Above and Below Haunted! It was an instant back for me on Gamefound & I'm just itching to get it! *Impatiently waiting* So sorry to hear you got hit by porch pirates😞 Hope you get the games again soon🤞
@@teaNgames that's the plan!!
Omg what a bummer about your games getting stolen! 😖 Glad you had a good time when you were there.
Glad you had a great time and I am super jealous you got to meet all of those excellent artists and designers, especially Saashi! What were the games which were stolen from your porch? I frequent a lot of game sales groups so I might be able to spot them if they are grouped together. Sorry that happened to you! That is awful.
Missy grabbed Bus and Stop too!
So glad I got to meet you!!!
@@HungryGamerReviews same here!
One of the biggest highlights of PAX was getting to game and hang out with you. Saashi and Saashi booth here we come Day 1!!!
@@TheLobbyOfHobbies first stop! It was like we had this planned!
@ oh…we did!
CABANGA!!!
It was so great to meet you~ hope to see your next year~
@@taengiepooh521 that's gonna happen for sure!
Gutted to hear you got hit by porch pirates. But glad to hear your trip went well otherwise. In your opinion, do you think you need more than one day to experience PAX? I went just on Saturday for maybe 6 hours and feel like I missed so much. I am wondering if I need to go multiple days next time.
@@JymmiF my first time at Pax Unplugged, I went for 1 day. Never again! Even going all 3 days, I still feel like I missed something.
@@blackboardgaming5348 It was my first time and I felt like it was so hard to see everything. I think next year, we will need to go multiple days. Also, where are the best places to just sit and game. We were in the expo hall and all of the tables were full so we were struggling.
@JymmiF the first look area is where my friends and I spent most of our time. Some great games there!
@@blackboardgaming5348 I think I missed that area completely. I've done it all wrong! 🙂Next year, look out! I'm coming prepared!
Glad you had a blast at PAX. Super bummer about the stolen packages. Thanks for the convention footage at the end; it was fun to see all the stuff there.
@@francopdx Thank you!
I've had games stolen off my front porch before - most notably, the Kickstarter delivery of Sleeping Gods after I had waited two years for it. 😭 I'm sorry that happened to you!
@ten_oclock_scholar4690 thank you! I'm sorry that you had to experience the same thing.
So sorry to hear about those thieves. Hope you can get those games back soon. Glad to hear you had fun!
Hi Dwayne! It was so nice meeting you and playing Flip7 and demoing Seti with you. Hope to see you again at the next Pax!
@ajcrosby87 Thank you! Looking forward to the next one!!
Great video! I had a fine time at PAX Unplugged as well, and I hope to meet you there next year. Happy Holidays!
@@davidells6760 Happy holidays to you, too!
the ember zombie meeples in creature caravan are adorable though! (i usually completely avoid zombie games…)
@@El-gu2hi exactly! Boo to zombies!
I'll have to check out Creature Caravan. You have suggested several games in the past that I ended up getting and liking.
Not sculptors, but potters. I backed Sunrise at the Studio on Kickstarter, but haven't gotten it to the table yet. Looking forward to it.
@@brianb5145 thank you for setting me straight! Now that you've said it, i see the difference.
I enjoy simultaneous action games because more players doesn't necessarily mean a longer play time. In my experience, if multiple players achieve a goal in the same turn, they all get it. That sounds like a design flaw if a game lets the faster player steal a bonus away from everyone.
@JasonOshinko that was my problem with Earth. If I remember correctly, if all players get the bonus on the same turn, the active player gets the biggest bonus, and the other players going clockwise receive the lesser bonuses. Also, I enjoy watching the other players' strategies play out.
Creature Caravan is great. How much fun can you fit into one box? This game says "More than you might think." Played 4 times so far and each time it's been a little different of an engine going on. Excellent game. And beautiful art as always with Red Raven.
@jtsiren1676 I totally agree! I've played 4 times also, it's always a different engine, giving you different combos to create. It's so much fun!
We love Creature Caravan ❤ It's very immersive...I just lose track of time when playing; my head is just in the cards...and I love those cards! Ryan Lauket should design a pure card game some day🤞
@@teaNgames have you tried Roam?
@blackboardgaming5348 Roam is one of our all-time favorite games! I had to get a new copy when they did the Creature Caravan + reprints campaign because the cards of our original game was so damaged from wear. (And yes, I've sleeved the Roam cards now, as well as the Creature Caravan cards!) Roam is a terrific game!
Great video! I have Wild Gardens and enjoyed my one play of it so far. I will check out some of the others that you mentioned. Thanks!!
Great video! I have Wild Gardens and enjoyed my one play of it so far. I will check out some of the others that you mentioned. Thanks!!
@@guandjs thank you for watching!
Nice video. I have a stepdaughter that loves making pottery so I bought myself and her a copy of Sunrise at the studio. We played it and I thought it was a good game. It fell in that dreaded OK category where most games fall for me 😳
@daryleg yeah, I get that. This was a fun, lightweight, relaxing game. I mostly appreciate the uniqueness of the theme.
@ yea the theme was done well.
I have not played any of these games but I’ve been hearing a lot about Windmill Valley and hope to try it at PaxU. Will you and Alicia be there?
@djackson920 I will, but unfortunately, Alicia won't. She couldn't get the time off. Hopefully, I can teach you Windmill Valley.
I have 4 of the 5....still need to pick up Sunrise at the Studio. We love Pencil First games. I agree with your astute observations.
@@jasondunham5780 thank you! I appreciate that.
Got to play some word games, Landmarks and blank Slate as well as Flip 7, Cribbage and Euker this Thanksgiving weekend with family
@@jamesbrazeal3847 Nice selection!
Great video, guys! And I love the t-shirt, Dwayne!
@@ChrisMartin-mz9bt thank you!
Although I wouldn't consider it a party game, Quiddler is an inexpensive word game! It's a deck of cards, which will fit a standard deck box. It's one of my grab-n-go games. You're making words from cards & it's a lot more portable than Scrabble😁 You'll need a scrap of paper (or paper napkin😆) to score each round. Player count is 1-8!
3 of a Kind looks right up my alley. I'll be checcking that out. As far as recommendations: Tapple and Paperback are strong party games for traditional groups. Heavier word nerds would likely enjoy Illiterati. Also, if you can find a working copy, I'd also strongly recommend Electronic Scattergories. It fixes the problems of the regular editions by having far more categories, randomization of categories, and mixing up gameplay.
@Sweetestsadist Alicia loves Paperback. Those are great choices!
Fun video for the party people. I introduced Paperback to my mother-in-law and she beat us so good we gifted her the game 🤣
@@daryleg 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video! I loved hearing about those games, and I definitely want to check out Rococo. And I wish Ted was in my board game group, just saying .... 😉 I joined a board gstme group last spring, we meet every other Monday. Shout out to Andrew and his patience to with folks like me who aren't the typical gamer demographic. 😉 My favorite game we play in my gtoup is Timeline:Inventions. Because I usually win, and the looks on the faces of all the guys is hysterical - why does a short chubby grey haired school teacher lady know about radios and catapults and the Rosetta stone and when garbage bags were invented? 😂 I love that you love pirate games! One of the firat games I played with my group was Jamaica, I had so much fun, and I still love that game!!
@@kayhcole as much as I love pirate-themed board games, I still haven't played Jamaica. I've gotta remedy that.
I haven't played Stephens, Rococo or Dead Reckoning yet, but all of them sound good. Crusaders, Orleans, Return to Dark Tower and Castles of Burgundy are some of my all time favorites 👍 Great video!
@@BillyIndiana Thanks, Billy!
Sitting here looking at my copies of Castles of Burgundy Special Edition, Rococo Deluxe and Dead Reckoning with upgraded components and playmat. You’re welcome anytime! 😂
@ImaginEric it would be fun to game with you! Fortunately, the guys in my gaming group have copies.😁😁😁
So...I'm thinking one of your solo videos should be ranking your pirate games...and include Dead Reckoning. It sounds interesting & I'm wondering where it would fit in your Pirate Games list?
@@teaNgames spoiler alert! It's not in my top 3!
Welcome to the Castles of Burgundy Fan Club!

@@JacobRamirez-li9dt My daughter gave it to me for Christmas some time ago.😁😁😁
Love Castles of Burgundy but I got rid of Orleans mainly the set up of that game turned me off, the gameplay was good.
Oh. Rococo is great! That expensive upgraded version was worth it to me!
@@eVanDiesel I know! It is a beautiful game!
I love Castles of Burgundy. I don’t own it but I play often on BGA. My friend owns it and we have fun playing in teams. We have similar tastes as I own Orléans and Dead Reckoning, love those games. My favorite game is Champions of Midgard but I don’t own it as three of my friends own it and it’s one that I probably wouldn’t play often just my husband and I. Also, can’t buy them all. Thanks for video.
@dominiquebelanger1828 thanks for watching!!
I love dice in games so much, even though I’m not very good at rolling them. My top two, right now, have to be Dwellings of Eldervale and Wayfarers of the South Tigris. Dwellings uses them in such a unique way in their combat, that makes every fight so much fun, and so suspenseful. In Wayfarers, I absolutely LOVE your little “cart” where you’re assigning certain icons and whatnot, to specific values of dice. Both are so clever and so fun. Thanks you two!!
@jjtheBaldBoardGamer I'm not good at rolling dice either! That's why I appreciate games that used dice in unique ways. Wayfarers is my favorite from the South Tigris trilogy, but i chose Scholars because of the added color requirement for taking actions. Thanks for watching!
Love those sound effects! My oldest played earlier this week, and she had a great time - she even gave me a solid thumping in the end!
@@LittleBigThumbs tell her well done!
How can Troyes and Alien Frontiers not be on this list. A crime!
@@WhatsDaveUpTo i haven't played either. I'm really want to play Troyes.
@@blackboardgaming5348 Las Vegas Royale is another awesome dice game. Has dice drafting, area control, and push your luck all in one. So good.
Agueda is beautiful and fun. It's my favorite of recent games
@morrigambist Agueda is an astetically beautiful game!
I can’t narrow it down to only 5! Castles of Burgundy, Coimbra, Dice Throne, Mino Dice, Mountain Goats, Rajas of the Ganges, Rumble Nation, Sagrada, Space Base, Teotihuacan, Thunder Road Vendetta, and The White Castle are some of my favorites.
@@ImaginEric great choices! Castles of Burgundy and Coimbra are 2 recent plays.
