Signs that your toddler does not have autism

- Makes eye contact with you or others and maintains eye contact as a way of communicating and interacting with them
- Responds to his name and turns to look at you when you speak to him or comes towards you when you call him
- Has age-appropriate language skills and uses them to show, communicate, ask questions, comment, or interact
- Has symbolic play, e.g. pretends to cook, talk on the phone, play with horse
- Shows empathy and sensitivity and social interest, such as approaches a peer who is sad, tries to understand him, comfort him, or shares toys with others, shows what he has, attracts the attention of other people
It is important to remember that not every developmental delay or change is a sign of autism
If you notice that many of these signs that I explained are missing in your child, or you have concerns about your child's development, I advise you to consult a pediatrician or developmental psychologist
