Glad to see car prices going down. I don’t feel bad at all for dealerships overcharging for 20+ year old cars.
Yes finally sounds like in a year or two I can finally afford a r33 gtr :)
@@CIVICX3 dude u did this comment like 4 times
@@EsaShaheed 🥲ohhhh
@@EsaShaheed nope the other comment is different and I made on 2 comments here
Not overcharged. Even older cars than that are more expensive. Old cars increase in value. Look at american cars
JDM bubble popping is outstandingly good news imo. Maybe the people that actually want to USE the cars (instead of rich people/businesses buying them all up, inflating the prices to hell, and putting them under bubble wrap as an investment) will FINALLY be able to afford them again. Let the floor fall out, I have no sympathy at all for the gougers “just following the market.”
I’m so happy hopefully I can pick up a r33 gtr in a year or two for a good price

me neither. that just gives me more hope to import my jdm dream cars to Brazil
it sucks for people like me who own them and use them for their purpose though. i get thet cars like a s13 or chaser dont deserve the high price tag but a 32 gtr should not fall that much.
I like the fact my Evo 8 went up 13k since purchase! But I understand and agree the jdm tax has gotten way out of hand!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Sammit. This market correction is exactly what I've been hoping for. I'm not a crazy collector so these insane prices have kept me out of the race. If things return to normal, I just might be able to get myself a reasonably priced cool car with which to have some fun.

Where is his proof all talk and no show
SAMMIT been warning about this JDM bubble for awhile now. Hopefully the smart ones were patient and can wait a few more months for the prices to lower with less demand. What's the update on Khan's car ?
where do I buy these cars that are checked my sam that black chaser looks nice
@@deejayy6448 through the people he mentioned towards the end of the video you pay them a fee to inspect the car for you and they tell u everything thats wrong with them and you tell them ur max price to spend if you win the car they then ship it over with a shipping fee to the closest port to u
@@lxmatthew the way to do it. Using an exporter not a car importer like top rank that'll jack the price up
@@deejayy6448 he mentions several reputable places including the ones in this video. Like he said it's worth paying the fee so they can find the issues they aren't showing and you don't get scammed.
@@tucoerquilenne6765 very pointless reply. Would of been great to simply mention those “reputable” places. Since I kind of told you I follow Rohab already and cant find any of Jeffs information. I only heard him mention 2 people. Can anyone else help ?
lots of stuff is returning to where it should be and it’s great to see, no one should have to pay 40k for rusted pos’s idc how much you have lmao, value is value and finally it’ll show
I feel bad for what might happen for some of these business owners, but that was the risk they took when trying to capitalize on a flash in the pan market movement. Something I think will drive down prices regardless of the bubble, is that A) there are actually a lot of these cars, and B) The push from manufacturers to fill out the affordable performance market segment again will lead to lots of modern 2nd hand sports cars hitting the market. Few people will buy a clapped out S13 rolling shell for 20k when you can get any number of more modern performance oriented cars for less.
You wish you could speak that into existence.
"more modern" performance cars is like comparing an apple you picked yourself to a green apple flavored gummy bear.
The gummy bear technically has a trace to the apple, it's undeniably smoother and softer in the mouth, probably sweeter too, rides real nice... down your throat.
But if you're looking for an apple, well I'm sorry but growing apples was outlawed some 15 years ago, you had better make do with these vacuum dried ones that will go for 100 bucks per kilo.
I'm not sorry to keep breaking this down to people, those who make decisions in society are planning for you to not drive ANYTHING at the earliest available convenience, the supply of a truly raw driving experience is a flat fucking 0 and will be that unless - already numerous - years of """progress""" is reversed. In fact it's not 0, it's negative, we LOSE these cars every fucking day, they get stuffed or are forgotten and rot in parking. And then we have this army of goobers who cross their fingers that eventually the prices will drop surely they must, absolutely not, these cars are now reserved for the few individuals who could walk into a Mercedes dealer and buy a base C-class out of pocket but choose an objectively more visceral experience. For the remaining 8 years they will be allowed to drive them.
@@Christian--- bruh your acting like you can't upgrade a gt86 or, even an electric car, you can overclock it like a computer.
@@Darkest_matter correct a gt86 will never be a 900kg liftback. a computeeis never going to be analog.
@@Christian--- so?
I said the exact same thing about the market here in Australia. No one believes the market is going to go down .
This is a very fine lesson as to why hording and being greedy is not a good thing, referring to the guys who thought they'd cash in on this and get rich. The same sort of thing is happening to graphics cards, just not to this level... yet..
That white R32 will sell for $70,000 in the US. This is why I won't buy a car from an "importer" here in the states. Travesty.
Not in that condition it won't... will it? I sure hope not
@@ModMINI heh, you have no idea... It's really sad.
Love how much you inside you give to the normal punter or people like me who is trying to get back into the imports but obviously with these prices it has been a nightmare just lookin for something stock without costing an arm and a leg..... Thanks for all the help you show every week 👌
Always a good day when Sammit drops a new vlog
15:20 Omg thanks for this! As a R32 lover, and with this amazing parts i would have been blind for this kind of "repairs" and rust.
always love the auction vids. and as a average joe car guy, this is great since prices will drop but does suck for those who tried to make a business out of it. but i mean, lets be real, the hype was gonna die at some point and prices would drop eventually.
The only people affected by this would be price gougers. Like a company near me that is selling a rhd panda ae86 for 40k lmao. That car is worth half that but they charge what they charge because people have paid it. All for a car I guarantee they got at auction for 10 to 15k, sometimes less.
Hype mostly are not good actually for long term business, bcoz hype usually being play by those who didn't really value the things, instead they just see the opportunity and wanna make a lots of profit from it by overpricing and stack a lot of stock, like a greedy person, the real value will still exist for anyone who not just seeing it from the business perspective alone, but know what they dealing it and love to use it
Hilux trans swap the chaser 😂, but technically speaking anything with adaptor plates should work, but then custom propshafts etc.. However, i still think a hilux or a cruiser/landcruiser box might fit ? Keep sending it Sam, i cannot believe how far you have come man absolutely insane 💥
hilux is r series boxes so should bolt right up.Input shaft lenght is different between boxes though. Also have to consider if the front driveshaft is left or right side.
For real a hilux would be cool but he could also if he could get the right adapters for everything he could run a r34 gtr trans. It might be expensive but I think it would be worth it.
@@RcManiaCyprus Thats the thing, some engineering and thinking will be needed. In theory, it should work😆

I mean it's fairly obvious that this was going to open. When the first '89 GT-R's started being legal in the U.S, the flood gates opened. The U.S could *FINALLY* have Skyline's and various JDM's. But it's been a couple years now, the vast majority of the people who were willing to buy a Skyline or any other cool JDM cars, went and bought them. The market isn't crashing it's stabilizing. The prices WILL go down and stabilize, but simply higher than 5 years ago, pre-US legalization.
I can safely say that the same thing is going to happen with the R34's GT-T/GT prices once they're legal. A quick increase in prices then a slow drop until it stabilizes again.
This is a good thing for someone like myself, who wants a Japanese classic car but is willing to wait. As long as prices keep going down, looks like I'll be getting myself a nice RHD car next year
Thanks for being transparent!!!! I am glad i was able to get JZA80 4yrs ago for $13k! Now its 30-60k for a RHD!
Thanks Sammit for keeping us in the loop of what's going on at the frontline.
I watched the video you posted ages ago mentioning that a crash is coming and It defo looks that way. Even here in the UK cars are not selling like they used to and every time they relisted the prices are dropping. I followed and watched a lovely r33 gtr in mnp with good mileage drop from £40k to 30K before it sold and that's crazy.
i live in phoenix az and the heat is brutal in summer but seeing that rust on the r32 thats somthing we dont ever get5 from our dry climate,no snow so no salt in the roads.this is where these cars need to go as they would stay preserved.my s13 sits outside and not a spot of rust (you can still get surface flash rust) in 30 years
finally middle class car people and poor people can enjoy 20+ year old sports cars, im tired of seeing cars like R32 and S2000 get sold today at a price higher than the year they came out from the dealership
When will people accept that mileage means NOTHING without every bit of paperwork covering service history?
Any car with 5k on the clock could have been ragged within an inch of its life, I worked in car rental.....
Always great tips! I've seen you buy enough cars to know that you do have actual formidable advise and knowledge when it comes to buying these cars in Japan. The market trend is a whole different subject. You did mention this in a previous video and many people seem to agree.
I like how you created a backstory for the r32 skyline owner. “He might have been in jail or something” lol 😂
Man all these evos just chillen, excited for when 8 and 9 are legal to get a proper AYC,ACD car in the states
You were right. I just got an R33 for about $10k, and while I feel bad for people losing money, I don't feel bad for those overcharging for these cars. They're just old cars with cooler looks and noises than what we got here in the US, but at the end of the day, they're still just old cars 🙏
the inflation in prices for everything during covid was a BOGUS INFLATION TIME, because 1 person jacked there price for something that people wanted, then the next person jacked there price for the same, if not worse condition item, and so on. same thing with the housing market. there should be appraisals for things before they are sold so this will never happen again.
I feel bad for shops who bought the cars to sell at a high price but let’s be real the r34 is a iconic car but it’s not worth the money they are going for at all
Thank you for the auction update sammit. I was at the exact auction house back in 06 when the economy crashed and the exchange between CAD and YEN was very favorable for a Canadians. Selection was way better back then and your right prices are bound to crash but what's the quality of the JDM cars left in japan....
As a dude who’s been around car enthusiasts all of my life but never found any spark for passion or interest for these cars up until recently.
This gives me a little hope that when I have a good amount of time spent with cars and gained more knowledge and experience with them. I could work on a car that’s fun, nice and has a lot of personality.
Makes me keen
Problem is there’s thousands of people in your position waiting for prices to drop. If they do drop, prices will only be cheap for a short amount of time as the high demand will drive prices back up. Same as any stock
@@nicholasgunson2945 indeed the common knowledge. We all wish we could get that dream deal but it’s fine tbh.
15:00 the tyres have cracks in the rubber further indicating it's sat for an extended period of time. Not been driven in ages.
This is good news, hopefully makes it possible for me to get a solid S15 when legal for the states
That jzx110 looked super clean I actually really like them I think they look pretty sweet done I can't imagine it being heavier than a jzx100 chaser n the wheelbase looks smaller imo. But as an American I'm hoping in the next 5yrs I can get things goin n be able to afford a jzx
i said this to a lot of people i know who were in the process of buying RX7's and S15's during Covid because they were able to get grants and loans through the government because of Covid. they paid 30K plus for 15's, RX7's and auto NA auto Supras just to get hold of them and now we're starting to see ones come up for £15k as people now need money. so they have lost money because the ones they bought aren't prime examples and was all they could find at the time. everything auto related went up during covid including motorbikes and i have seen the same thing there with dirt bikes. it's as if everyone stopped thinking of the future as soon as lockdown hit.
10 years ago I could buy a N/a Mk4 Supra for less than 15k$ Cad, now some owners want 50k$ for the same spec, absolutely ridiculous...guess I will finally be back on the market hunting for a good deal! I feel like some Euro car are getting way more expensive than before; E36 is a good example they are now a bit pricey in Japan, not sure if I could buy the same spec I have now.
There is nothing better then late 90s early 2000 cars .new cars don’t even come close to the nostalgia and general designs before safely and emissions ruined everything
4x4 JZ trans option
the tacoma/hilux 4x4 5speed is an r151 I believe. It uses the standard r series bell housings. Swap in a JZ bell housing and Bing bang boom you have a 4x4 selectable jz drive train
What about a Rav 4 tranny you think that might would work?
@@shannacollins4741 rav 4 is front wheel drive based isn't it?
@@misterzed1375 nope they had a awd version dude also ! Do u watch Tommyfyeah? He did an old earlier model a few years back and it was awd I'd have to watch some videos back but I could find out the year it was I don't remember off hand the year tho!
@@misterzed1375 ok it was an early 2000s model Rav 4 and they Celica Alltrack awd swapped it ! So maybe a Celica awd trans could work also but yeah they have awd Ravs out there somewhere!
@@shannacollins4741 no I understand they have awd versions but what I mean is the engine is mounted transversly/sideways. Jz engines are pretty long and don't fit well sideways. To keep it in rear wheel drive configuration and have 4wd options I believe is what @sammit is asking
i was loving the fact that the prices were going up at first but actaully hoping they would come down in the end so i can buy more of the japanese cars i want to experience.
It was the american market for these cars that pushed the price up and it needed to come back to what it was . Aussies and Kiwis cant afford the prices of what these cars had become and in the South Pacific Market it was hard to purchase any of them . most of the buyers would have bought something more in their price range
the bubble is finally popping. so glad I am waiting for it to bottom out again before buying.
none jdm sports cars are proboably going up due to people with a budget still wanting something jdm. I started looking at kei vans and trucks as I could get something cool for UK standards in my budget when I was looking at a gtt or s chassis.
the ST165 and ST185 GT4 celicas both had pop-up headlights the one you saw was a ST205
Love these JDM auction videos. Please show some cool JDM cars like the Toyota Crown in the future aswell
In Hong Kong, Japanese cars like these; R32/33, Supras, MR-2s, Chasers, Cefiros, Type-Rs, Evos, etc. sat rotting worthless in bushes for decades. Nobody had the slightest bit of interest in them. I'm positive the bottom will fall out of this false economy hard very soon, for the non 'collector' cars at least. They made so many of them. On my various trips to Japan, everywhere you go there's stuff that seemed mystical and rare to people who hadn't been to or lived there.
It also doesn't help that the JPY has plummeted in comparison to USD, so US folks who are storing in Japan for future importing (ie 2023 & 2024) are looking at losses on their investments when you convert the currency.
toyota also made a 4wd altezza gita (wagon) with a 2jz-ge, but have a 4 speed automatic
I really enjoy just watching you talk about these cool cars! Always enjoy your videos!
LOVE these auction videos and your ‘man on the ground’ view on the situation 👍🏼
Not to jump on your coat tails but I’ve been saying the same thing for a while and all the ‘investor’ types have been denying it’s possible. I feel sorry for some people, but the profiteering can do one!
Milages on cars as olds as these classics, with a history is a good thing. Not used cars deteriorate in bad ways at certain points.
Thank God!!! I am soooo happy the market is finally crashing. I might be able to finally buy a JDM Subie or EVO.
I love the content around Japans auctions since you get to know prices and how much it has either inflated or gone down.
I dont think they will get back to normal, they will balance somewhere in the middle. These cars are still popular and people want them, and as the years pass and actually good cars are harder to find, the prices will only go up.
Perhaps not normal - from say: 3 to 5 years ago, but essentially the equivalent with current inflation pricing and demand.
He's not far off saying they'll drop dramatically though.
The previous high market import countries (US, europe, UK, Australia, NZ, etc) are facing a huge upswing in cost of living expenses, rising interest rates and inflationary costs - most people, who desired these cars would of used low interest rate personal loans - which are now being scaled back.
We may see a gradual increase in price for some of these cars, but there will be a decent correction over the year.
They're just not purposeful or practical cars - so their value is much more impacted by market sentiments/ demand
For example, these cars are not like a 79 dual cab Toyota landcruiser, that can haul a full family, carvan/boat and still be used as a daily workhorse.
19:17 mate, same. though, i kind of like the look of the ST205 (the one you got right there) more then then old ST185.
also, i wanna get my hands on a ST215 at some point, build a sleeper wagon.
They made a Mark II wagon with an awd option but don’t know if any where manual, but that would be a good place to start, Mark II Blit from 02-07 happy hunting
The black GT4 is perfect
I think that interest rates are hurting the US market demand, since a lot of people are doing private loans or vintage car loans, they are hit with much higher base rates when compared to the 2017-2021 "mini golden era" - coupled with higher commodity costs and that large scare with the improperly imported/titled vehicles out of Florida, we are certainly toward the tail end of the JDM car hype in the US.
I don’t see the prices dropping anytime soon. Shipping cars is still very difficult and the demand is high, even considering the prices are high. I hope that you are right but I don’t think the prices will drop. Btw I bought a Evo 8 rs and a r32 gtr 2 months ago, they were just shipped a couple of days ago. I still consider JDM cars to be bargains if you think about the experience you get for the price you pay!
Prices are probably remain strong for good, clean cars. Most of these cars are turds with some major flaw or another. It incentivizes people to wait for something bettter.

Learning a lot from these type of videos.
The car at 17:42 really makes me sad. As you said it was definitely loved. Such a cool car and to see it withering away and someone trying to use it for a quick cash grab, sad.
I got quite lucky with the risk I took buying my 180sx sight unseen. Only bc I’m a mechanic & knew what the auction sheets described was fixable for me but that rusty gtr surprised me. Rust is bad bc once you start repairing it you’ll find it spreads everywhere. It’s true the auction sheets and pictures don’t describe enough. Mine went to 2 auction houses and the descriptions were pretty different
Totally agree. Dumped one of my cars at its peak value 2 weeks ago. Auto market totally going to drop.
Ya ive dumped two older cars in the last month at peak prices. IMO great time to cash out of auto assets if you want. Prices will come back down and level out, then ill get back into a few other dream cars.
Lots of these price bubbles are due to investors interests and now that cost of borrowing money is higher than ever and interest rates are also going up each month, market sell off is imminent cause investors always borrow money. If you’re into stock and crypto it’s pretty easy to understand this but some panic buyers always buy and they lose money. That was expected for gtrs and supras these cars aren’t really low in production numbers r32 gtr for example, 44000 of them produced doesn’t really make sense paying 50-80k for them.
So glad I used inheritance and purchased a grey import to dedicate to my bro 🙏 Poor R32 such a waste and buyer beware. Wow the chassis rail. It pays to have some one look over a car before auction. Go through Rohab and Jeff 👍The party is over✌️🇦🇺🇯🇵
i like how they are dropping, prices getting where they should be
JZX110s are super underrated, yea they are big and heavy but they look like so much fun to drift once they are modified, plus they look good
it is interesting that the market has gone south. Im surprised more foreign investors havent come in with how weak the yen currently is.
its like the real estate market in the usa. buyers have disappeared. the jdm buyers from the usa must have been the from the bitcoin, tech stock and house flipper crowd and those guys are feeling the pain now. I recently moved to japan and was thinking of picking up a gts-t but i've gotta be careful with my dollars because if the dollar crashes i'm screwed. i've exchanged enough dollars at this high rate to pay 2 years rent but after that i'm at the mercy of the market. i still have fresh memories of when it was 76 yen to the usd during the great recession

Same thing is happening in the middle-ground classic euro car market. Friends/customers who were investor "enthusiasts" are very very nervous. It's unsettling to see some become desperate in their selling points. The cars will sell, just at 30%-%40 below what they are wanting.
BAT created a false sense of value on some great middle-ground classics.
Mmmh , I am not so sure about prices dropping honestly, of course we will se a bit of stagnation as in every business when there is a super high rise of prices, ( stock option for exemple).
Crazy high prices are going to go down a bit, but finding price as cheap as before, I don't see that comin at all.
Most of countries right now are pushing electric cars sales and even forbid petrol car to be sold in a few years so old car that have a real driving pleasure will keep to maintain their value and even grow it in the next 10 years.
Never take conclusion on a 1-2 year grow or loss, it is well to little.
Thanks alot. Those are some sweet rides! Love the JDM.
So we should see prices fall in the UK too. And that whole 'thing' of previously exported JDM cars being repatriated to Japan and put back into auction should stop as well!
You can't import cheaper to UK sammit lying
I’ve been wanting to pick up a chaser to add to my garage. Glad I’m waiting. Bought my Supra when they are reasonable. I’ll wait until the jzx100 chassis comes down in price.
Same bro I’m holding out for a chaser , but the nz market is fucked 30k for an auto tourer v 40k for a manual
Its also the fact that parts for these cars are getting harder to find, more expensive, and many faulty out of the box, its a headache trying to keep any old car running now
Sw20 mr2 Trans to make awd? I've been trying to do an all awd toyota swap aside from the typical st203 swap in my 7th gen celica
I think the prices are.going to be more like a wave going up and down depending on the demand. as the prices drop everyone will start to buy again which will drive the prices back up.
Bro I actually just said that to myself and 2 seconds later I read your comment. Actually people who studies economics know that it works exactly like that. There is a base line which with demand the prices are going to fluctuate higher and lower. I think that the last peak was an exception because the peak was a lot higher than normal because of COVID and a big hype but there statistically will always be that up and down thing
awesome video, man so need a mark2 tourerV currently own a na mark2 hopefully soon.
theres a 4 wheel drive zenki aristo with the 1uz also maybe the celica gearbox could work
Do you handle exports to NZ? Private use classic car 20+ years.
Could you use the 6 speed Supra gearbox on that car?
Do you rate 3.0 to 3.5 rated cars or go for 4.0 to 4.5 grades?
Do peeps steal the gearshift knobs?

out in canada prices are the same if not increasing maybe its because they are 34s and chasers but i dont see this effecting over here unless they are brand new imports etc
toyoa hilux r150 with transfer case, and a jz bellhousing for the 4wd manual swap? 👀
No, idea what will fit to make it manual. But you should see if you can find a mark2 blit (hearse looking), if I remember correctly it has a model that is 4wd with a 2jzgte. Dont quote me on that though
As far as the jzx goes I was thinking about this same swap on a alteza wagon 4wd. From what I remember I think like a gtr transfer case flipped upside down on a 6speed getrag box from supra or something like that

i never seen purple coolant like that whats the deal with it?
There was a GT4 a red one pop up headlights abandoned near my place in Geelong a few years ago manual. It had a council sticker on it saying if it's not moved in 28 days it will be towed.
I was thinking about taking it I asked like 10 houses up and back from the car and no one knew who's it was.
Shame really.
Damn that's tragic. Once it's towed by the council, what happens to the car?
I remember previously old Porsche 911s naturally aspirated was the bubble before this, then the skylines due to twenty year rule of usa..
Damn, man. That's scary. I would heartbroken if I ended up with that GT-R. I'm thinking it might be best to get over there and buy the car myself in person 😅. At least that way if I end up with a lemon I can't blame anyone but myself lol
Great vid Sam!
