Very nice documentary I'm a milk man to stores have been one for 20 years and my father delivered milk in bottles to house for 30 years in the 50s and 60s God bless you for this film thank you
This was a very interesting film in several respects. My great-great, great, and grandfathers had a dairy farm. They also had a dairy business which served our area. I believe that excess milk went to city dairies in the Hartford, Conn. area. A few years ago a friend found one of our old bottles on Ebay for me.
I love these old documentaries but I was out of milk and started craving it so bad I ran to the gas station at 3:00 a.m. to get a gallon LOL now drinking a big ice cold glass of milk watching it is even better
my aunt and uncle lived and worked on a Dairy farm in Lodi ca and once a month we would go there and have dinner then walk off the dinner by walking around the dairy and talk to cows and ride the calf feeding machine which was on rails and the big tank was in the milking area and could hold several thousand gallons of FRESH MILK and yes the tank was at a temperature of 40 degrees some times lower and there was a tap at the bottom of the tank where you could put a gallon jug under and get cold milk
So amazing! One of my favorite memories was the sound of the milk man coming by very early and the bottle gently clinking as he exchanged them...every day all year. Thank you to all the people involved in providing the milk😊
We had different diary companies in my area.1950S, SEALTEST, HARIBSON, FOREMOST, MARTIN CENTURY FARMS, BORDEN , BRENRINGERS, AND ABBOTTS. Now there are few companies. LEHIGH VALLEY, AND WAWA
6:29 Guy at the Charleston plant: "High water? Is it receding?" Maynard: "Yeah, just like your hairline." Guy at the Charleston plant: "Concentrate on the Grade A toupees, will ya?"
I live in New York State where a local farm has integrated the whole process. Their milk is sold in supermarkets, as well as their own store at the farm. They even have home delivery. The best part is that they sell milk in glass bottles. I agree that it seems fresher than plastic or cardboard containers.
4:27 Narrator: "Trained workers, with years of experience, check the quality and flavor of every can." Worker: Sniffs Lid ---- Great film, but this made me laugh
@@taco2k3 Maynard is the man. As Station Manager, he keeps the milk moving. He keeps his eye for those high water situations at Hood's Supertest Milk. That's why Hood can say that its milk is supertested. All because of Maynard, the legend!

Living In Hyannisport, Cap Cod Mass. Had The Cap Cod Dairy Milk Delivered To My Door In The Morning. Fresh & Ice Cold Bottles. Was Great.
Our family sold milk to H.P.Hood for years From Somerset Ma. There isn't even a cow in that town now.

Wow! You have a great memory!!
Foremost milk exists in Thailand 🇹🇭 but I don't know if it has ancient connections to the company in your area.
Supplee also
You have just crossed over...into The Dairy Farm

I'll be "milking " this film for all it's worth.
God, that was weird. I love it.
Milk tasted better out of glass bottles.
Sam Iam 🤤
@@blankblank5409 it was more natural as well
What did it taste like? It surely looks creamier than today’s milk
@@manila1909 I get mine in glass bottles. It tastes creamier and richer. It's SO good.

Sounds like Rod Serling narrating about milk from The Twilight Zone

In 1950 they were so advance to preserve and distribute the milk.
At 6:55 that manager uses his chair wheels like a boss!
Gouz for cows (circa 1940 ‘s&50’s) Elmont,Long Island,New York That was it’s slogan 25 cents a quart.
Submitted for your approval. The Milk Zone.
18:28 He is still giving it to poor Jack. You don't mess with Grade A milk!
17:38 How dare you interrupt my shower, Jack!
So many NE dairy farms are gone now.
If we drank milk now like we did in 1957 we all would be thinner
And then they invented UHT Long Life Milk 🥛 and the train drivers were able to enjoy their showers after dinner.
I like how no one is wearing gloves, masks , or eyewear. That farmer who was spraying pesticide def got cancer .
Beautiful channel 🥀
Nice
5:40 Gomer Pyle working for Hood's Supertest Milk!
Nah, I think it was actually Maynard

So much has changed from then to now. Everything is so inhumane. 😟
Do you work on a farm?
Local and organic
Yeah but you got to understand there’s millions more gallons needed now. You need enough food to feed billions
thumb 👍
Got Milk ?
