- Come join us for another travel blog from Esquel as we explore some of the best hiking in Patagonia, Argentina by showcasing hikes to Laguna La Zeta and Cerro de la Cruz. Some of the best hiking in Esquel can be done directly from just outside of the city centre. Most of the nearby hikes departing from Esquel are easy half day adventures. Our two favorites were easy hikes to Laguna La Zeta and Cerro de la Cruz. Although you can take a taxi up the hill to the trail section of Laguna La Zeta we'd recommend walking to the trail section if you have the energy because you get some of the best views of Esquel along the way. Laguna La Zeta offers stunning mountain views and calm waters that are perfect for kayaking. Hiking up to Cerro de la Cruz offers you views of Esquel from the opposite direction. Although we didn't make it to the top given the strong winds we'd recommend you do so with proper gear. If you visit Esquel you should definitely consider some of the day hikes on offer as it was our favorite way of spending time in the city.

BEST HIKING in Esquel, Patagonia, Argentina: LAGUNA LA ZETA + CERRO DE LA CRUZ
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Google Earth just added a few more cities in Argentina to it's 3D lineup which is now at 9 I believe. Salta is an interesting city in VR mainly because of the Teleferico San Bernardo and the large Autodrome Martin Miguel de Guemes behind the mountain. In fact, I went around the entire track circuit in VR at track level.
Oh, wow, that sounds pretty cool! We haven't tried Google's VR yet. Thanks for letting us know about it.
@@samuelandaudrey - If you go to the "Voyager" Icon of the Chrome based Google Earth you will find that you can enable the 3D scenery layer. This is NOT the same as the 3D icon on the GE main screen which serves a different purpose. That layer (from Voyager) will then show you what is available for viewing in 3D and thus VR. It is relatively new. And the new "Projects" section in GE is extremely powerful. You can even include your own or other RUclips videos in that project. Then, when finished you can generate an Internet link to your Project that anyone can use. FYI - Projects are really no more that shareable ".kml" files that are now made on a "wizard for dummies" inside of Chrome based Google Earth. "Projects" are part of Google's new "Creative Tools'. Over time they are a major league big deal because now you can create your own private or Internet shareable ".kml" files. This gives people unbelievable presentation power. It may end up as significant as RUclips itself. You cannot create projects on the Android based Google Earth as of now but anyone on Android can still view them. Projects automatically store on your free "Google Drive" cloud account and that is why a shareable link can be created. Private ".kml" files store on your own PC. Google has added about 150 new cities (primarily in Europe) to their 3D lineup in the past 3 months. I would guess that total to be about 2000 as of now. Microsoft is just getting into this too. Their new Flight Simulator will release shortly with 400 photogrammetry produced 3D regions also delivering from their own cloud.
Thanks for the video. Awesome place!
Thank you very much Richard! It is a great town to visit in Patagonia.

That is an easy hike, better than Sapa (Vietnam) , which I did it too, the terrain is more accessible.
Yep, these are two light half-day hikes. We also enjoyed trekking in Sapa, though we were completely beat at the end of the day. 👣😅
