A lot of people don't know this, but originally Broadway was one of three streets - A, B, and C Roadway. A and C were demolished during the war, so we were left with B Roadway, or "Broadway", as it is known in the vernacular.
I saw the entire series. Being from Brazil, I wish Mike could do one episode on 20th Century Third World Theater, specially latin america. We have in Brazil one major playwright NELSON RODRIGUES, a true genious, he has amazing plays, very modernistic. Consider that in that time Brazil was an isolated country, and NELSON somehow had impressionist, Brechtian, and other elements in his plays, although he had never heard of them.
Great episode. It is interesting how many theater titans are dudes who didn’t write women that well (Miller) or who had bad relationships with them in real life (Brecht)
Yea, contemporary bway. Everyone thinks of Hamilton nowadays when speaking of Broadway... I'd say there's much more than that; and Hamilton, though a good show, isn't really one that defines Broadway.
My mom named me Stella from a street car named desire, and all my life people have been screaming “STELLA” at me, and now I finally understand why

I read “A Raisin in the Sun” last semester I’m my Hnrs Eng 191 class and it was so good!!
Didn't think I would be watching a crash course on broadway!! This was really engaging.
Where are the musicals!?!
We better get to some musicals eventually, they are the best and why I am here
This is where you break into a choreographed song-and-dance routine, isn't it?
@@DFloyd84 Yup, not realistic, but other parts of theater aren't either!
Musicals are the best. Theatre AND Music AND Dance (even through they’re all the same thing)... what could be better?
Derek Floyd Who doesn’t love a choreographed song-and-dance number? (If you don’t, I’m sorry, I don’t think we can be friends...)
Love this channel 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Same it's the best

Mike Rugnetta is a national treasure.
*All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. ◇*
Tennessee Williams is a genius. Period.
Brando had an appreciable countenance.
I only know about Death of a Salesman from Buffy
Broadway is the best thing in the entire universe.
Did Streetcar when I was in college. Played Steve
Great and moving episode!
I love this show so much, watching the new episode is the highlight of my week!!
I'd watch Mike Rugnetta read the phone book. Like, one of the 20th century ones.
Anybody else miss Thoth?

One day I'm going to give CradhCourse thousands of dollars.
I’ve always been interested in Arthur Miller, because... well... his name is pretty close to mine.
Yaaas, King Tennessee!
Mike's Marlon Brando moment was adorable. (And, let's be real, extremely relatable.)
Need this real bad.
I had no idea that Hansberry went to UW. That's so cool.
Mike sometimes looks like a Duckman character
I was Play Writing in 4th Grade.
Can you make a crash course art
Why did he say “poetic” like that
One other writer I like from this time period is William Inge. “Come Back Little Sheba” was great.
