    I never have and most likely never will own a pickup truck. However, if I ever did buy one it would be the Ram. When ever I see one on the road I always say to myself, Now that's a truck I'd like to have! Beautiful truck, congratulations! The Ram community just gained an incredible resource for maintaining and owning their trucks.

    Beautiful truck. I have a 2015 Ram Rebel and love it from the comfort to the room inside to the looks to the ride. I also have the Ram Box which eliminates the need for a tool box and keeps the bed open. One thing you missed is you can set up your gauge cluster to your preference. Stay with Ram brother. Thanks for the video.

    I almost feel dirty saying this, as I am a life long Ford driver, but I test drove an 2016 Ram Eco-Diesel the other night and could not believe the fuel economy computer. I was getting 30mpg on a truck with 12 miles on the odo at 70mph! I now want to trade my 2012 F-150 on an Eco-Diesel. It even has lockable tool boxes on the bed that will eliminate the need for me to carry separate tool boxes to do my mechanic work I do on the side.

    21.9 average MPG? That damn thing gets better gas mileage than my Honda lol And nearly double the MPG of my 97 Ram. I think I'm in love with that truck tho. So nicely put together.

    I traded my Hemi Laramie 6 months ago for a new Caddy CTS, what was I thinking? Last week I just ordered my new Longhorn 5.7 Crewcab longbed.... 6- 8 weeks for delivery....can't wait to be back in the truck. This design is several years old but still far surpasses function and design of GM and Ford. I just drove a Chevy High Country and it did not have, even as an option, so many of the standard features of the Ram. No, I am not a brand loyalist, its just the Ram is a better vehicle at a much better price point

    It's nice listening to someone giving there honest opinion regarding there new vehicle. You not pushing the product on to us, but giving your honest likes and why. I am considering a new truck as well, looking at the 3500 4x4. I did test drive a Laramie 2 wheel drive dually, and was pretty impressed!

    you know im with you . ive worked for ford for 91/2 to 10 years now and i want a diesel and a half ton setup not a heavy 3/4 ton or 1 ton. my wife ownes a chrysler town and country for her and the kids and if it didnt have such low ground clearance and the usual tpms problems or blind spot monitor problems she loves it and i wouldnt have it any other way. i will be buying a dodge ram eco diesel. soon maybe after i retire from ford. theyve been making fun of me and my family ever since ive had the chryler and i just dont care i like quality not quantity.

    Great video, Brian. The irony of you showing the climate on the screen, but then reaching down to use the button to turn it on and off LOL
    I have a 2011 F-150 now but honestly I would seriously consider the Ram if I was truck shopping again. In some ways I think the Ram is a better truck. Don't tell my Ford buddies I said that though.

    Im not a tech, but have 15 years working in a garage and still do 90% of my own wrenching today.
    We were mostly Ford, Chevy and GMC people. Always cringed when a Chrysler product came in. Always told myself I'd never own one due to the fact that Mopars were pieces of crap, and a PITA to work on. And usually they would just fall apart, mechanically, pieces of the interior, stupid engineering designs. Well, I caved. Bought a 2001 Durango. MISTAKE! Still sitting in my driveway, dead after head replacement. No one can tell me why I have a no spark situation.
    Back to the Ram...had I enough $$, I'd consider one, but also agree with another comment on the Toyota.
    I'm a Ford man at heart.
    Oh, and thanks for all the informative how to video's on my beloved Fords. Enjoy your RAM!

      really cause we have had our 2001 Durango and has not broken down once with 180,000 miles on it and same goes with our 2003 ram 1500
      our friend had a 2008 f-150 they went through 3 transmission also you can't beat the gas mileage on our new cars like come on how would you want a 3.6L when you can have a 5.7L HEMI that gets better gas mileage (thanks to that 8 speed transmission)
      furthermore HELLCAT with 722hp

      2001 Durango, if I'm correct that was still under Daimler's ownership of Chrysler. If you look at Daimler produced Chryslers, versus Fiat Produced Chryslers... It's night and day. Quality today is light years ahead of what it was under Daimler's watch.

    The 1500 Ram has been well matched to the VM Motori engine V-6 engine. Why did it take Dodge to be the first of the Big 3 American makers to do it? Well, being 3rd behind Ford & GM maybe caused them to think out of the box instead of just going with the flow....on and on and on....Great 1/2 truck!

  • @MattN03
    @MattN03 8 лет назад +4

    my perception of overall quality would rank the trucks as follows:
    1. Tundra
    2. F150
    3. GM
    4. Ram
    how do you feel Tundra & F150 quality compare? I know the current Tundra platform dates to 2007, so it's behind in tech and features. on the positive, I think this is why it might have an edge in overall quality. I think the Big 3 compete against each other so strongly, they are forced to put out new designs that still have a few kinks to work out.

    • @RamEcoDieselSource
      @RamEcoDieselSource  8 лет назад +4

      +MattN03 I don't compare Nissan and Toyota trucks to the big 3 ever.

      @andrewmason9137 8 лет назад +1

      +MattN03 I was just at the 2016 NAIAS and the new F150s are nice not going to lie. But the RAMs where not even a comparison they were so much nicer in almost every possible way. (didnt have trailer back up assist... but if you own a truck and a trailer, you should know how to back it up. Its not rocket science). The GMs where complete garbage, and the Tundra was even worse especially when it came to interiors... they where small and everything was made of cheap materials even in the high end models.

      Picked up a 14 crew cab Sport with 17k KM on it a couple months ago, upgrade from my old 07 Sierra that I drove into the ground for work. Couldn't be happier with the Ram Sport. Looks great, rides great, performs great on ice and snow getting to remote work sites. I threw some Hakka 7s on it, but I always go for good winter tires because of where I live and where I work. I'd definitely recommend the truck, was such a nice upgrade from my old truck, even the wife loves it which is saying something.

    Steering wheel heater is amazing when you're hooking up a trailer while it's snowing. Did you get the block heater by chance? It's not really needed where I live, however with my Cummins it also keeps the heater core warm to the point of instant heat on startup. I was wondering if it worked the same way in the 3.0. I can have my truck cleared off in five minutes with remote start if the block heater is connected.

    Gotta love the Ford fanboys and brand loyalist zealots that comment on here. Are you really that insecure about what kind of truck someone else owns? Are you that easily offended by someone offering an unbiased opinion from a professional perspective? Here's a guy that's worked on Fords, and RAMs alike and he bought a RAM... That says something.
    Either way, at the end of the day it's about preference. He's sharing his opinion, not coming over to your house to hold you at gunpoint and tell you what you can and can't buy.
    Oh how I loathe fanboys. Nobody cares about your blind brand loyalty. I drive Mopars, always have, and unless they do something to piss me off I probably always will so long as they are reliable to me, and for many years they have been. That being said I've owned other brands, I prefer Mopar, but I'm not above taking the best deal, or trying to get the most bang for my buck as a consumer. I just don't go around insulting owners of other brands or belittling people for having a differing opinion.
    I will say this about Ford though. Chrysler never left me and my family stranded in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. Ford did, because of a Ford design flaw, and then they were rude and refused to take care of their own self-admitted design flaw. So I'm not too keen on the Ford Motor Company. But that's just me, maybe I'll go find some youtube pages for Ford owners and piss and moan like a little baby like you brand loyalist turds.

    being an Ase master tech I agree that ford is plagued with alot of major problems including the 5.4 timing chains and cam followers going bad and the 3 valve engines stripping plug holes and seized plugs as you well know but the dodge has a major problem with the cam stripping the gear and dodge has had nothing but failures too. gm even has problems with their vehicles burning oil and they wont claim any responsibility for it so Id say buy Toyota if you want a Quality vehicle. unfortunately no American manufacture makes a quality vehicle and actually stands behind it! I can pick them all to death and make a list long enough no one would buy any of them as you can also do.

    Hello brian, I am currently thinking about getting an EcoDiesel. The thing that scares me about the motor overall from the research and videos I've been watching is the horrible smells that come into the truck. Also the blow by tube of how much oil it produces when you take the fill cap off and air filter. I was wondering if you have had any of these issues with your truck. I've seen the smell comes from the regen process, but as a person who wouldn't have time to allow the regen to happen and have the system clean it's self out. how often would this occur if I did allow the regen process to happen? Would I have to go through the process all over again, a few hundred or thousand miles? I've seen these problems occur to 2014 and was wondering if the 2015 would have these issues fixed in regards to the smell and oil blow by. Any info is gratly appreciated

    • @Dippinonthis
      @Dippinonthis 9 лет назад

      As the truck gets driven and the engine and components get broken in, the terrible smell of the DPF regen process will gradually diminish. I don't own a dodge so I don't know how the PCM is configured to handle incomplete Regens. I know with the Ford's if you shut it down while it is actively performing a regen, the next time the truck is restarted and the engine is at optimal temperature it will re-enter the regen process again. The total regen process from start to finish takes about 10 minutes to complete as long as you're moving at fairly consistent speeds over 35mph. Depending on driving conditions and how you actually drive, you should expect a regen cycle to occur every 250 miles with aggressive city driving and more like 400 for more of a conservative driving style on the highway. Like I said I don't own this truck or anything dodge for that matter, but from what I've observed Cummins, Duramax of Powerstroke all the emissions controls are essentially programmed very similarly. As far as the blowback issue, I can't help you there, and I'm sure Brian can correct me if anything I mentioned is different than what he's experienced, and can even be more specific in some cases. Hope this helped a little.

      I sold GM truck for 37 years. Trust me on this. People that worship one brand over another are exactly what has almost killed the US auto industry.. My parents generation fought in WW2 and therefore would never have bought a car made in Japan..........period. We baby boomers weren't so set in our ways so the Japanese got their foothold when we started driving in the late 60's. The US car makers had a customer base that they thought would never go away. That false sense of security allowed them to make shit and still sell it. You laugh at Fords yet you probably can not give any reason for hating them. Was it because Lee Iacoca left and went to chrysler? Is it because you drive another brand? Are the union workers better at one manufacturing plant that the other? Are the union workers in design better at one than the other. The truth is this. Right now cars cost as much as a house did 30 years ago. If you are stupid enough to have your mind made up before driving all brands, that is your problem. The vast majority of buyers are intellegent. Ssome let the media think for them. I will say this. It is easier to buy a Chrysler/fiat than a Ford or GM because Chrysler credit will finance anyone. The places where Chryslers sell the best are towns around military bases because a lot of GI's don't qualify for traditional financing.

      Brandon, you are an illiterate fool. You haven't even mastered the English language. Why would anyone with a brain larger than a pinto bean believe what you say, let alone put stock in it? You must think the rest of the population is as ignorant as you are. First you say you hate japanese cars and then buy a Ford when they have been in partnership with Mazda since 1974. As for Mr. Rodriguez, I won't dignify your stupidity with a comment.

    • @zclary923
      @zclary923 7 лет назад +1

      Nothing like a brand loyalist fanboy.
      Like Fiat owning Chrysler is a negative. Quality is miles ahead of what it was just 10 years ago, reliability is better, performance is better... Boy what a negative.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 7 лет назад

      The negative is the restructuring of the corporation and people losing jobs. As for the quality, how would you know anything about the quality of their cars compared to ten years ago. Are you the editor of Consumer Reports? They are the only magazine that buys the cars they test and won't take advertising so they call it like it is. The quality of Chrysler has always been behind Ford, and GM. Even in the muscle car era, after the drive train, the cars were crap. Comparing the Dodge Monaco/Chrysler Cordova to a T-bird or Monte Carlo in the 70's was proof.

      C moore I've owned plenty of Mopars. 1992 Dodge Dakota, 1995 Dodge Dakota, 1991 Dodge Daytone ES, 1990 Chrysler Lebaron GT, 2006 Dodge Dakota ST, 2011 RAM 1500 SLT, 2009 Chrysler Sebring, 2013 Dodge Charger R/T AWD, 2015 Dodge Charger R/T, 2015 Chrysler 200 LX, 2016 RAM 1500 Big Horn.
      I'm also the President of a local Mopar Club. So I think I know a thing or two about their products.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 7 лет назад

      You are a brand fan. Anyone who isn't a car dealer should give themselves the best product for the money. Anyone that has owned that many vehicles of the same brand hasn't. I got my dealer license in 1972. In the state I live in, it is required to be licensed even if you are just a salesman. You will rarely see anyone in the business be a brand fan because it will cost you business. You can pick up a consumer reports yearly buyers guide and get a very true picture of quality. They don't except any advertising and buy their own cars. That is the difference between them and everyone else. They call a pice of junk exactly that. They road test everything and unlike JD Power, they balance the problems to accurate standards. At JD POWER, if you don't like something minor, it carries the same weight as a major defect. On the magazines, they are ridiculous. For instance to be elligable for car of the year, it must be a new model or a completely revamped one. Bottom line. Mopar doesn't have the quality anywhere near Ford and GM.

    • @zclary923
      @zclary923 7 лет назад

      C moore Consumer Reports is bought and paid for. They're as biased as it gets. They get money behind closed doors. They sing the praises of luxury brands and rip on cars average joes drive.
      I've owned so many from one brand because they've treated me well. That doesn't mean I don't do my research on the other products on the market. I didn't want an F150 because I don't like the way they look cosmetically, I'm also not sold on the idea of having an aluminum body. I actually liked the 2016 Silverado but GM wants a premium for their trucks, RAM offered better ride quality, ample power, and better options in the price range I wanted.
      Mopar is my #1, but I'm not a blind brand loyalist either.

I am considering a new truck as well, looking at the 3500 4x4. I did test drive a Laramie 2 wheel drive dually, and was pretty impressed!
