  • Welcome (Bienvenidos) to Neil’s Spanish Fly Box, where we take a look at some of the flies used in Spain and elsewhere.
¿Hola, que tal? En principio, este es un video diseñado para pescadores que entienden inglés, pero por supuesto, ¡cualquiera puede verlos! Si eres un pescador de habla hispana y te gustaría comentar en español, te responderé en español. ¡No seas tímido!
Learn about some new (some, not so new) and interesting fly patterns, that can be found in every Spanish fly fisherman’s armoury, including some ‘must haves’! Real flies for real fly fishers.
I have fly fished in Spanish competitions for over a decade, on rivers and still water, learning a great deal about the Spanish way of fishing and the flies that are used.

@@johnruby4915 Hello John, great to hear from you and I hope that your season is going well. This is.a nice alternative to the PTN to have in your box, especially if there is some colour in the water.😉

I agree about the pheasant tail!! Sometimes I even get enough fish or strikes for that to happen. Thanks again for a great fly!! Shoulder is doing well!!

@@bobhammond8067 😂😂 Hello Bob, you are a wag! It would be standard to tie in the tail with PT fibre tips and if others prefer that look, it’s fine. My wealth of inexperience, suggests that hackle fibres allow me to tie fewer replacement nymphs.😉 Delighted to hear that your ‘new’ shoulder is in good order.👍

Very nice. Great PT alternative. I've never tried biot in mahogany.

@@ross1458 Hello Michael, good to hear from you. As you say, a great alternative to a PTN - I’m glad that I am offering an alternative that you haven’t tried.😉 How’s you back Michael? I hope that the op has done the trick.👍

The substitution of materials for durability is fascinating. Off to the vise!

@@chili1593 Hello again! If you have experienced broken tails, the hackle fibres will almost never break in that way. As far as the Biot is concerned, it is an alternative that can be a little more durable than PT - to be fair, an extra wrap of rib can sometimes prolong the life of PT.😉
