I love the relaxed fit of your jeans! I think it’s nice to be able to tuck in a sweater or cinch it with a belt. I enjoy how you tell a little story in this video, about your late evening of sewing, the snow, the repairs and the feelings you had as you went along. Those details made it so sweet.
Absolutely amazing video and your jeans turned out perfect! You did such a neat job! I also liked how you and your partner were able to fix the sewing machine by youselves. I love the calm of you videos and this format is lovely. However, as I watch YT while knitting, I also appreciate the voice over (just I feedback and I will watch your videos nevertheless). Thank you for this video, it was a pleasure to watch! BTW, I also love the sound of cutting fabric, and so do my kids :) I have loved it since childhood, as my mother also sewed :)
Thank you! I was skeptical but he spent hours watching RUclips videos on how to fix it, and he did a great job, so he proved me wrong 😂 It would have cost almost as much as a new machine to have it professionally repaired which is pretty sad. And thank you for the voiceover feedback, I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos!
I love that you included the sewing machine mishap in the video! It's cool to see you work through the problem and find a solution 💙 I would be so worried about my old machine with heavy duty fabric like that too. I made a quilt on it last year and she struggled! Nice to see your videos again 😊
Wow, you did such a thorough, professional job with these, they look fantastic!! As a fellow sewer, I love to see detailed videos like this one ❤ I have found that a pair of small, sharp pointed scissors kept by my machine are so useful for trimming loose threads, snipping buttonholes etc. I always thought it was unnecessary but they have been so very valuable! The fit looks comfy and flattering. Enjoy them!
Thank you so much! I’ve been meaning to get those, I always leave my scissors elsewhere and then sit down at my machine and have to go get them when I need them 😂
Thank you for making this video about the M & M Heroine Jeans! I am about the same size and height and have these jeans in my sewing queue. Your video was so informative and I really enjoy the chill music with the captions. I am between a UK 12 and UK 14 and planned to try the 12 in these. Reading the comments, it sounds like you sized down again to a UK 10?
Love your video! The finished jeans look great 👖😍 This inspired me to get back into sewing this year. I will start with something easier first, but I really want to try this pattern in the future. Can’t wait to see how you style the jeans in different ways ☺️
great video and fantastic results! I have a tip for cutting the buttonhole: put a pin perpendicular to the buttonhole just at the end of it, that way when you push with the seam ripper you don't cut accidentally the end of the buttonhole, repeat for the other side, and voila!
You are a brave girl, very good video, even if you don't know to much about making a jeans, you have the courage to do it, with not pretensions,I wish I can teach you a little.
You did a fantastic job! Just wondering if your sewing machine had trouble with the buttonhole? I have a Bernina and it does great buttonholes on lightweight fabric but it can't handle doing buttonholes on thick fabric such as the waistband on jeans. Also, I would love to see a tutorial on how you made the waistband. It is so lovely and bulk free and square. Amazing!
Thank you!! My machine is a heavy duty machine so it actually handled the buttonhole no problem. It was toughest attaching the belt loops but it still managed to power through! For the waistband I think I followed the instructions to a T, I always like to poke out my corners with a chopstick to get the crispest finish ☺️
Really nice work. Jeans look professionally made. You sound like you have a bit of self question about the fit. You might feel a bit better about the fit after a nice wash in cold water followed by low heat in dryer. Test a piece of your scrap fabric first to see how much it shrinks, though. I like the captioned videos with just music, particularly when you’re showing the process because I am trying to focus anyway. I enjoy the humor and side comments. I have to say that I do enjoy the sound of scissors cutting fabric, but I actually don’t experience that much myself because I cut most everything out with a rotary cutter. Oh well.... 😊
I really like the jeans! This was a nice and clearly presented video of you making them. It was hard to see them clearly in the end due to the lighting. But you look fabulous in them in any case!
these look so good! So professional and stylish 💛 You're easily a UK size 12, if not even a size 10 (although sizing varies wildly here now 🙃) Thank you for a lovely chill video while I weave in my crochet ends!
wow Emily you did a great job! Jeans look stunning on you! I love the color of the fabric. How did you manage to do the hem, was it difficult for your machine? There are so many layers when you fold them... I am really scary of using my basic sewing machine to make jeans, but your video assured me it's okay!
The hems were no problem, the part that really worked my machine I’d say was the waistband and button loops. My machine is heavy duty so that helps. But definitely can be done on a domestic machine!
Beautiful job on your jeans. Like you, I do not like tight jeans and these might work perfectly. Your videos production quality and creativity is beautiful. Lots of work. 💗
They turned out great. Can you share where your cutting table is from? I recently moved to PNW and am looking for a good cutting table in correct height so I don’t hurt my back bending over.
It’s actually our old kitchen island! We got it secondhand years ago, it’s originally from ikea. It’s a little too low for me so I wouldn’t recommend getting a kitchen island from them to use. One that maybe has a larger surface and adjustable height would be better.
I think you made your jeans beautifully and I love the video. A couple of my friends made the same jeans at Merchant and Mills sewing studio in Rye a few years ago. Do you think they are too big? I guess it depends on what fit you prefer. I think slightly smaller would have been better, still with plenty of room but a fit more fitted.
Beautiful work as always! But I gotta say, I miss the old "regular" format of your sewing videos. I used to always look forward to them! Now though with the subtitles format, I find myself everytime just skipping to the end after a couple of minutes to see the result and not really watching the whole video. As someone who pretty much just watches youtube/tv to keep her company while also doing something else, it's hard to have to stare at the screen for 20 minutes straight to follow what's happening 😅 Just a thought, as I'm probably not the only subscriber who does that :)
Thank you that’s really helpful feedback! I personally really like relaxing videos so I’ve tried to embody that. Also I hate listening to myself speak 😂 but I’d be happy to try more videos with voiceover in the future and see how they go!
@@EmilyLightly Haha I totally understand! I hate to hear my voice recorded 🤐 In the end you do whatever you enjoy most and/or works best for your platform :)
I really love the cut and look of these. They remind me of the early 40s style and sailor pants. Very flattering ❤️
Thank you!

You've inspired me to try sewing jeans again...nice job! They look amazing x
They look so good! Really classy and should last for years! Excellent work and great teaching xx

You did a wonderful job! I have a different jean pattern, and now I might use the M & M pattern instead.

You amaze what you're willing to try to make! I watched you make the two-toned jeans and those turned out super! Both pairs of jeans are awesome!
They tourned out stunning. So much better then store bought. 😮

That's a great tip because I have definitely ripped too far once or twice haha.
Great video. You may have convinced me to try jeans!

Amazing job! And I love how they fit you! I will be working on my first pair of jeans this year. This gives me hope for myself! ☺️
Thanks so much! Happy sewing ☺️
Beautiful! They look great!
Thank you!
It fits you perfect. Good job!

Thank you! I think I will try to shrink them a little in the wash ❤️
I made these jeans too and the fit was like Emily’s. Will follow your advise for shrinking. Thank you! 😁
KAI scissors are excellent!
You did an amazing job on those jeans.
Thank you!!
You make it look so easy! :) I'm determined to figure out button holes and zippers on my next project, I've been scared of them for too long!
You can do it!! After you’ll see they’re not so bad ☺️
Love your tutorials..🥰
They look great. I really like the fit!
❤️❤️

Still trying to figure out the best filming spots in our new place! Thanks for the feedback ❤️

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
I got the EXACT same fabric in a sale last year, but didn't have a bathtub for the prewash.
It’s really gorgeous fabric! I wonder if there’s another way you could do the soak without a bathtub, maybe in the washing machine?

Yes, these were too big on me! I shrunk them a little in the wash after, and sized down to a 10 for my next pair which fit much better.
