Construction foreman here. I use bic cristals at home. I use pilot G2’s at work myself but when my guys need to sign paperwork I always give them bic round stic. Less likely to break. I don’t know how many times the cristal just gets shattered.
Cristal does feel smoother than the stic when I write too. I love the classic cristal and of course it’s spitball capabilities, however, today I’m enjoying the round stic more. Seems to have a darker ink as well as a less slippery tip when writing.
Like the old saying, just get to the point! I use the old BIC Crystal at an office visit recently and today I wrote with a donated BIC round stick and don't mind it. Needless to say this put many pricey ballpoint pens to shame that was promoted by today's advertising. It was the cartridge to start with first.
The other day I converted my BiC Stic to take Parker G2 refills. I dropped a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 in it and now it's probably the smoothest writing BiC Stic In the world.
Thank you for an interesting review. FYI All the big box stores like Target and Office Depot and Staples have failed in the UK in the face of online competition. The Bic Crystal is freely available at supermarkets. It is available in colours, including yellow, which is uncommon for ball points. For 'hyper-realistic' drawing, you need yellow oil-based ink for anything other than monochrome. The Round Stic is sold exclusively by Pound Shops, at 10 in blue or black for 1 GBP. All are made in France.
There was a time that the only store I would buy pens from was Staples. That stopped once I got into fountain pens and discovered all the great looking pens available via online stationery stores. Since then, I carry a few of my favorites with me to work with my EDCs being the Ballograf Epoca, Zebra Blen, Acro 300, and Ohto Rays Flash Dry. Needless to say, my BIC Cristal and Round Stic days are behind me. Thanks for the video!
I like to be distinct and take my EDC line up to work. The bic crystal is still a secret favorite though. The Atlantis series is fast becoming my favorite out of the Bic family.
I've got a pack of those 60 bic round stic few years ago and it's my favourite pen, I don't like gel or roller, i used fountain pens a bit, round stic is smooth and comfortable for me
I quote your words 'it's like coffee with an expiration date...'. Your review is just fantastic! I like the fact you said the BIC ink gets worse and worse over the years. Quite true. Bic needs to improve their quality. There's quite a lot of those BIC here in Mauritius, even the crystal fine tip ones, but the 1.6mm, I haven't seen any. Maybe they will import it in the future.
Still having trouble with the crystal pens. Ink goes up the barrel and that's the end of it. Why would ink move up when the pen is pointed down? Ridiculous.
I've had several of the Bic Cristal pens that had the ink move all over in the barrel. It's weird. I have it pointed down in my pocket but the ink moves up the barrel in sections. Never saw this happened in the ones back in the eighties. Very strange. The pen will not write anymore once this happens.
What you can do to fix it is slosh the ink tube in hot water for some time. It should "melt" the ink and make it less viscous, so the air bubbles can escape. For the record I haven't had this bubble problem since I got out of high school some 15 years ago. And I use Bics a fair bit.
Great video. My preference is the Cristal too. Too bad it's not sold by BIC here in Singapore; we get the orange old school version in fine tip with the x'tra smooth ink. To get the Cristal I have to look to Amazon Prime Singapore but they too are available in only the newer x'tra smooth ink, and they costs about US$ 7.60 for a box of 24 pens.
Wow! Never seen an in-depth video on pens, but I might add there is a feature on one of the pens that the other does not have... The Bic Cristal pen cap has a hole in it to prevent choking, if a child would ever swallow it, and the hole provides at least a small airway. ;)
@@unsharpen I agree! It's flexibility and being larger at both ends allows for a better load of ammo. That's the one I remembered using as a teenager in school or more like getting blasted with.
I never recommend pulling out the refills, I used to take bic stics apart all the time in class and they would eventually get to a point where the refill wouldn't even stay in place, it would just get loose and slide out. 🤣😂
La boca cristal es el elemento de escritura más preciso que existe, hay ciertas comparativas pero están lejos. Tiene lasventaja de dejar un bulto en los dedos por efecto de la presión, lastima bastante los dedos de la mano.
I live by this phrase you get what you pay for so a cheap pen won’t be as quality and a more expensive pen will be better quality I love both the pens though
If I had a dollar for every bic-click-stic refill I have modded to fit nicer pens, I would have saved enough to pay for all the paper I used in college....
Its 1:30am and im watching a man compare pens
That's the beauty of being wise Jakob.

Oh no.

never thought i'd have to do research on BIC pens but thank you lol

Same, i prefer darker line

whs they had a sale never knew Poundland sold them

Love the silence of the Atlantic-line
Amazon ripped you off with the crystals - walmart has them for 99 cents per dozen. By the way 144 is called a gross.
Agreed. Walmart usually has the bic cristals for less than 10 cents apiece

I personally prefer the Round Stic Xtra grip. I don't really like how the Crystal feels to the touch, it's far too slippery.

4:48 talking about Crystal while holding the Round pen???
I don't use ballpoint pens anymore but I love your Bic videos. Hope to see you explore colored pen sets too.
kitten paws what do you use?Roller balls,Fountain pens,Gel pens?
How is this even a comparison, OBVIOUSLY the Cristal is the superior pen. The round stic is so ass.
Nah round stic is my daily driver

It just does that for true.

When i was kid i use Bic with black color like this one to ink my drawings over the pencil before knowing the existence of Micron and rotring ink pens
The crystals were for spitballs...
Which is more comfortable? I always thought the round shape is not a great idea for comfort, I would have like to see a triangular version maybe...

Bic crystal is my all time favourite! I always go back to it
If only i discovered Gel ink pens while I was in school as a lefty my hands were smeared with ink.
The crystal can be used for calligraphy, interestingly enough.
thanks a lot for the full report .

Modern Bic Round Stic pens also have holes in the cap.
Why am I watching this? This guy does a phenomenal job. This guy could sell ice to a snowman!!
I prefer the Cristal's writing ability and the Round Stic's form factor. So I swap the ink assemblies around.
Which one would you say is best for spit balls?
The stic.

Papermates used to get really chewed up on the end too...
You should rename your channel to B-Koss, how many times have you heard yourself say that?
You know I hear myself saying it in the edit and I think I should stop, but once I start flowing it keeps coming back.

I just bought a pack of 22 Bic Cristal pens at Target for $3.59, which comes out to 16 cents per pen.
Very good deal, especially if they are 1.6mm
Too much time spent on taking pens apart, why? Next time spend more time on how they actually write with fresh pens and cost. Please!
What i love about the round stic it's the fact that you can fit a bb in the barrel and shoot it using just your lungs.
THE BOURNE IDENTITY PEN
It's the only ink pens I use.
You do not remember the all solid brass Bic nibs.
I do, and have several in my collection.
0:48 Bic sounds like something else when you pronounce it 😛😂
From where I can buy crystal this box.
India.
amazon

the original bic crystal had a brass tip
Oh wow? How long did that last?
@@unsharpen the brass was replaced in 1961 and the stainless steel ball was changed for one made of tungsten carbide. for durability
