Ive always wanted an MD arcade- or rogue-lite game mode. This would be a pretty cool framing device. A bunch of random decks from all over the place, lured to the island by treasure...
Eldlich is genuinely such a well designed Card. Im down for a round of support that pivots a bit from the floodgate control style, since they seem to axe them one by one now. The art direction is also chefs kiss.
Yep the Eldlich and Vendread story modes are top tier. Must be the zombies. Totally spot on with the Monarch solo mode description. It is so bland when they just say they exist, they do things, nobody knows where they came from, blah blah blah. They did that with the Subterror mode when Subterror actually has lore that they just didn't talk about. Guru is an old master that used to suppress the Behemoth's, presumably alone or possibly with Fiendess or others, but passed to torch on to Warrior who fights along side his tank archer and mage in the new generation. Also Fiendess is actually a good/helpful Behemoth that is now a cute wizard girl. She can transform or be transformed (not clear) seeing as she helps Archer in paretheon shot, that battle phase counter trap. They all fight the Behemoths, at least the very dangerous/ antagonistic ones. They had so much to work with and highlight. Instead we just got, "Big monsters live underground next to a city under ground. They live in different places and effect the environment. Sometimes is gets scary. We don't know how anything or anyone got there. We also don't know what might happen in the future." It's ass. The only thing I learned is Speliogist (the level 10) is the most evil of the Behemoths.
One of my favorite gates, really like Eldlich and general zombie piles when they're not hiding behind Skill Drain and Rivalry. Just remember, this means the golden god is option for Anthology events now (for both good and bad).
Zombie World Eldlich was one of my first decks in MD and even to this day one of my favorites. 40 card version or 60 cards with Grass, this deck was a lot of fun. Yeah you can auto win a lot of games if you play the stun version with every possible floodgate, but that's just not fun.

This story mode goes so hard. The deck's been powercrept enough to feel "balanced" now if you just try to use random Zombies and floodgates, but you can still be jerk like old times by running a Wanted Engine to hire Black Witch to dump your extra junk, and Condemned Witch for searching droplet and turboing out Light Barrier statue in a meta where everyone's on Fire stuff. Eldwitch is peak cringe, but it works.

Japanese only books, the valuable book and lore book, they include concept art for archetypes characters as well. But don't worry you can still read them on yugipedia.
I suggest to buy valuable books from Japan if you want the full experience and if you looking for concept arts to draw, if you can't read Japanese just go to yugipedia instead.
You can glean some lore from the cards themselves, but most of the explicit lore comes from reference books like the Master Guides and Valuable Books EX
