Only about half of people are playing it and that usage is going down because it's not at all a good card against most of the meta. The only reason as many people are playing it still as they are is because of the influence of the TCG mindset. Besides that, even the people are playing it are unlikely to have the card in-hand. Basically, playing around a card that's unlikely to be there for a clearly worse field is going to lose you more games than it's going to win you.

A bunch of activations that seemingly go nowhere, only to end on 2 Spell/Trap pop, 2 bounce, a bagooska and a snatch steal. And if you also run Summon Limit, that is literally the end. Which is why "OMG I love Vaalmonica, I would die for Selettrice Vaalmonica"😂😂

The ruling on effects that "Place scales" ignores the ruling that doesn't let you set scales under anti-spell. I know you were probably talking about the fact it's a spell based control deck, sure, but they have some weird ruling interactions to be aware of.
I’ve been actually loving Vaal. They are so much fun and just have an in archetype FTK cause fuck that’s funny. I had a jank night at locals not too long ago and I blew everyone’s back out with vaalmonica aroma
I quite like Vaalmonicas, it makes an easy pairing with deficient level 4 strategies, it's the elbow grease they needed. I have substituted all non-engine for Time Thief cards and I always end up with a good Time Thief board, even with my deficient deck building skills and vaalmonica pulls. Good stuff.
Fiendsmith giving this deck a huge boost is so funny (or sad for what Fiensmith represents for the game), since the fiendsmith is a rota for Dimonno and Beatrice is basically a rota for Selettrice if you have the pends up. Sucks that Moon is coming out as you could pivot to fiendsmith combos without the need for the link-2 thanks to Dimonno being a light fiend. Such a big improvement from the first wave but that was to be expected also this is the best title for a video ever!
also the lv9 fusion fiendsmith makes the endboard not vulnerable to evenly, lv6 fiendsmith can occasionally open the chaos angel route so huge W for vaal

It's just a shame Dimonno by itself isn't full Fiendsmith combo like every other light fiend entirely because it goes to face-up extra deck when used as link material. We'd kill to have a 1-card combo like that.
I've only recently started playing Vaalmonica and it's my first pendulum deck as well and I already love it so much! The concept is just so cool to me and aesthetically the idea of using the pendulum zones as the devil and angels on your shoulders is so cool, I just wish I wasn't terrible with this deck lmao.
Finally someone appreciating Vaalmonica. Most streamers just say the deck's unplayably bad and call it a day. It may not be meta but it's really fun and interesting to play.
16:32 I had this happen with an old rank 4 deck WAAAAY back in the day at locals. Some new kid that only came to the locals a couple times was there, and I had never played against him. Cards weren't even sleeved. I didnt respect the mirror force and got blown out in game 2 and we had to go to game 3. I couldnt stop laughing about it, I was so shocked how badly a mirror force could still hurt if you didnt play around it

How fun would yi gi oh be 😂 All these decks have multiple 1 card starters, fun interactions and restrictions. Fun concepts and room for improvement! Meta decks are legit this BUT MORE
Vaalmonica just might be the first Pend deck I'll build precisely because it doesn't play anything like those pendulum piles with disgustingly long combos that always involve Electrumite, Astrograph Sorcerer, and popping their own scales. The combos in Vaal seem a bit confusing but at least they're short and doesn't involve spamming monsters. Vaal not needing to use those ugly Performapal cards is a plus too.
It's pretty much specifically because Vaal is greedy. It doesn't play well with the "Pend Soup" pile, so you actually need to fully interact with its gameplan rather than "Generic Boss Roulette". Endymion Mythical Beast is another Pend Deck that is pretty selfish in my experience, and while having an obnoxious amount of reading, is pretty fun imo. Also, king shit aesthetic as well.
i really wish pendulum was more like valmonica. like the best pendulum monsters are all the once, minus wakaushi, from arc v that support non pendulum archetyps. just look at lunalight for example. its a fusion deck so it wants monsters ansd fusion spells something that is both present in the pendulums: one summons back materials the other is litterally just a fusion spell
Uhh there's definitely some problems with that. Because you can't use two of your trap zones And you're locked into fiends And you cant really do anything with the vaal portion if you draw one of the scales

People complain about combo decks like snake eyes for being too strong, people complain about stun decks for being to annoying, people complain about bad decks coz it sucks people complain about mid range decks because it's not combo. I feel like 90% of people just play yugioh to hate it
I don't get the "Settle" part, but "treece" is at least understandable, although, "trys" or "truhs" would fit better with how most people would pronounce "Cockatrice".

Bad manners, specifically doing unnecessary stuff when you already won the game if you just attack for game. For example your opponent doesn't have a card in the hand or field but you keep over extending. See also: slow playing.

Maybe my MD-only perspective is completely wrong but I think the problem with Fiendsmith is 100% Moon of the Closed Heaven.
