I had back and neck problems for quite a long time - until I realized that although my body was intentionally twisted to the left with the cello (towards the A string, as you describe), my neck was also unintentionally twisted to the right. This was simply because my music stand was straight in front of me. When I realized this and moved the music stand further to the left towards my natural line of sight, my neck and back problems disappeared within a short time. Since then, I pay much more attention to details - like the length of the end pin - that can negatively affect posture.
I LOVE these technical "issue" videos Georg! The ergonomics of cello playing is fascinating to me, and I struggled with my bow hold until I noticed that professional cellists had different bow holds. It became evident to me that it is an individual preference. Now I don't have bow hold issues. I should have applied that knowledge to the end pin height. I hit my leg and cello while playing the A and C strings. I'm also 127cm with long legs and arms and I still struggle to reach the A string! So I think it's time to mark my end pin height and twist my cello accordingly. Thank you Georg for championing individual cello ergonomics!💕
