  • In his first 24 hours as Prime Minister, Keir Starmer has appointed his cabinet and held a cabinet meeting. Most of his frontbench have carried over their shadow briefs, but there were a few surprise appointments too. With huge mountains to climb when it comes to the NHS, welfare and prisons, how radical will Keir's 'Starmtroopers' be?
Cindy Yu speaks to Fraser Nelson and Katy Balls.

@freebeerfordworkers Since Thatcher introduced Right to Buy, councils have had to sell off their council houses at a significant discount, meaning they've pretty much universally fallen far below the social housing stocks they need. After the 2008 financial crisis when many councils effectively lost all their savings and then had their budgets massively cut back during Austerity, they've been on a desperate scramble to afford the basic mandatory services they have to provide, so have had to make decisions like (for example) closing down care homes they can't afford to run anyway in order to convert them into flats that are desparately needed to meet their minimum needs there.

Timpson’s a smart appt by PM & whole model is a lot more nuanced. - From crime prevention to managing reoffending rates; education, rehab & resettlement. Mental health & addiction issues are often huge part & then there’s types of crime & risk. Plus the capacity & condition of the estate & public protection & victim support issues. Sounds like they’ll review whole model & treatment of each component. I don’t think Starmer will ever be soft on crime as former DPP & unlike last Govt, release unlikely to be driven by shortage of prison spaces but probably based on key interventions & outcomes.

You're honestly more likely to be being seen by a migrant in the average A&E at the moment than in the queue behind them. The most prominent place in the country when it comes to migration has always been the South-east and the fact the people there did not base their votes on migration is pretty telling. There are a whole list of things the average voter in this election was far more concerned about

Putting him in prison is adding insult to injury - the people who lost their money due to his crime now have to pay (through taxes) for his prison stay. HEARTBROKEN!
    😢😢😢😢😢😢
Pollution in the highest while we in the UK are being punished by our Government for climate change man date while many other Countries seem to only to have greed rather than care for human life.
So while they act selfishly, we have to suffer by forced Government policies onto us without care for us, in so many ways that has become absolutely impossible for many of us to endure.
This is obviously causing mental health issues and it continues to escalate as companies continue to profit more and more every year while UK citizens suffer from the burden off selfishness by greedy businesses, supermarkets chains, Insurance companies, Energy Companies, Higher Taxes in almost every aspect 8n our day to day living, rise in rents, bills and charges on Vehicles in all avenues almost gives us not much positive to look forward too.
With our women, girls being harassed, raped or bullying.
Our Christian Culture seems to be set at the back of Muslim culture which is not our history.
Our Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth RIP must be so disappointed in our Government on the continued aggressive behaviour onto our Christian Culture by not looking after our heritage, firstly by putting others over our own culture.
We have still open our hearts and were willing to help where we can and sadly we are treated as 3rd class citizens or that we are the ones coming here looking for help.
Our families have fought, died and not even in death where they rest are they being left to RIP.
While Government hands out millions to Muslims to give them Graveyards which will be on top of our Loved ones that fought for our Country is being let down after there services to Country.
It is truly heartbreaking to see our beautiful Country that our Grandfather's, Grandfather's, fathers, mothers, brothers and sister's have fought to build a beautiful Country for us to be proud is now being pulled right out from under our feet.
But; when Election comes around our Government knows who we are only until they are elected and then we are swept over the Cliffs like waste they couldn't wait to get ride off.
There is a God, God Our Father will lead us to our eternal glory and I pray that my God will be a forgiving God for what Our Government has done onto us.
Heavily Father, I Recite Your Son's Words on the Cross.
Father Forgive Them For They Not Know What They Have Done. Amen 🙏 🙏 🙏

Labour only got in for 2 reasons: due to a voter turn out at 60% - one of the lowest turn outs in 20 years - meant that, thanks to how undemocratic our voting system is under the completely corrupt 1st past the past system, a third of those voters were the only ones to actually voted Labour in. It's quite frightening that such a small percentage of votes somehow managed to get Labour a massive majority of 410 seats... This country is turning gradually into a dictatorial state, where, thanks to incredibly dubious hard left ideologies, anything even remotely perceived as offensive, sexist, racist, homophobic, ad infinitum, can get you sacked, or in extreme cases, legal action taken against you.
How anyone can possibly think Labour will drastically change the direction of Britain with its higher echelons all coming from the same institutions that got us to where we currently are, are incredibly delusional.
This nation is also on the cusp of bankruptcy with our debt-to-GDP ratio practically at %100...Be prepared to see more tax hikes in the very near future.
