"It's An International HOAX!" | Net Zero Secretary Ed Miliband IGNORES Planning For Solar Farms

  • Councillors and residents are fighting plans to build the UK’s largest solar farm after it was given the green light by the new government.
Developer Sunnica’s 2,500-hectare solar farm on the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire border could power 172,000 homes and help meet the government’s net zero emissions target.
The previous government repeatedly delayed its decision on the proposal, facing opposition from the council, councillors and the planning watchdog.
Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by political commentator James Melville, who argues Mr Miliband "has no understanding of the real world".

NetZero requires full electrification. Currently around 17% of the energy used in the UK is derived from Electricity. That means we will instantly require 6 times the generation capacity than we currently have. That will also require 6 times the distribution capacity. 6 times the aluminium and 6 times the copper. According to the BBC wind and solar use 7 times the copper as traditional generation methods. So in the next two decades will need up to 42 times the copper currently in use,. Wanted to install solar panels on the roof of my home along with a battery. Even though my home is not in a conservation area or a listed building I was told I needed planning permission by the local council with no guarantee it would be approved. My understanding was solar on roofs was permitted development and didn’t need planning permission so it was a good job I checked before spending £11,500. The projection for the 3 quotes was that I’d have generated approximately 70% of my own power. If people were encouraged to generate their own energy on an existing building it wouldn’t take up valuable farm land needed for a massively increasing population and wouldn’t be a blight on the landscape either. It would also create jobs and take pressure off the grid. People should be encouraged to install solar but the crux of this is government are against us having anything that gives us independence. The likes of Milliband should never be given power to make decisions that will affect people’s lives so drastically, he’s just another clueless government buffoon.

@@kn3448 Where did I say it should be compulsory ? Of course it’s not viable for someone who lives in a basement flat ! What I’m saying is, if your home is suitable, not a listed building or in a conservation area you shouldn’t have to ask permission from a council planning department to do something that makes perfect sense. The likes of Milliband are quite happy to blight the countryside with solar farms and would overrule people who didn’t agree but as an individual you have to ask permission to add them to an existing building. As usual it’s all about control !

you require 25acres of land to supply just enough solar power to 14000 homes. there is over 30millions homes in the UK(I have deliberate not covered industry etc and only homes) you would need over 250spware kms of land just to supply enough and only just enough energy to homes. this is before we consider, EV's. Industry, Food production, data centres, more homes and so much more... one you add that in the estimates just from solar is over 1200square kms and thats just for current usage that would be used along side wind turbines( you would require over 3500 turbines to power just london alone each requiring 75square meters).. Once you combine solar and wind together you would require an area almost half the size of Wales...
Let that sink in folks..... And for some reason the greens, save the planet. save the wildlife mobs will be ok with all this.. All the shouting about returning the land back to nature gone up in smoke.
