When does the internship process start for a new MFT student? And when do you have to know where you're going to be licensed? My husband moves around the country for work so this concerns me a bit!

Please do an interview video. I am from outside of industry. My internship is coming in October 2021. Is it too soon to look?
I don’t think so! Just let them know around what time you’re hoping to start so that you can begin narrowing it down.

You can look into schools that allow licensure in any state rather than just 1
Is a practicum and an internship the same thing?
How long did you work for free? I am try to plan ahead and make sure I’m ready financially.
If you don’t count my regular job that I had, one year.

Understandable. A lot of people are able to find paid internships though, so you may just want to start early with your search.
