    I noticed that your hook-up ratio is a bit higher when you get distracted and look away before the fish hits. This is common and just means you are reacting to seeing the blow-up too quickly. It still happens to me, and I've been fishing toads for over 20 years here in Florioda.

      This is true and I sometimes look away on purpose. I also tend the speed of retrieve up when I look away which also helps with more bites sometimes.

    So is it pretty much a hard rule that toads, or any top water fishing should be done early?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  5 лет назад +1

      No, although early and late in the day are good times to fish top waters, especially in open water, they can be excellent in mid day too. Especially in heavy cover, when a front is approaching or during cloudy dark days with or without rain. Always let the fish tell you what they want. If your catching fish on topwater early, don't put it down until the bite changes because sometimes the bite can last all day long. Hope this helps.

      @@fishden365 yes it does. I don't understand why I can't get any action on the small little pond I bank fish from. Maybe the fish in there just aren't big enough for a toad bait. Oh well I do great on senkos.

      Is the pond heavily fished? If so toads may work on summer evenings or at night only.

    Good info. What type of water clarity would the bullfrog color work best?

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  6 лет назад

      It works best for me in stained to heavily stained water. Thanks for watching!

      Fishden365 Hate to keep bothering you but I have couple more questions: 1) if the water is stained or close to muddy, do you still throw white first thing in the morning? 2) If not, what color(s) do you recommend? Thanks

    • @fishden365
      @fishden365  6 лет назад

      I usually go with white first but will then throw black if I think there should be a topwater bite and white doesn't produce. On dark days, sometimes black can be dynamite. During the day I like green pumpkin with the tails dipped in chartreuse dye. This mimics a bluegill quite well.

      I have noticed a number of high profile fisherman fishing that color recently. Perhaps a color that the fish have not seen much of in this type of bait in the past. Will have to check it out!
