I'm with Birm, I can't stop thinking about this Chip Kelly offense. It's absolutely disgusting. It's a cheat code. I love it. Kelly is gonna be a runaway train for the Broyles Award.
Birm, you're onto something. Ohio State's defensive line just needs to play fundamental, stop the run defense on 1st and 2nd downs. Then, they'll be in a better position to get after the QB if it's 3rd and long when the QB has to hold the ball longer.
I got off rivals message board cuz the kind of people Birm spoke of. They are not interested in positive dialogue and can’t put anything into context. Hot take central.
I was on the ozone board for years..until it stopped. It was one of the very early ones so stuck with it. But it could be awful. Avoided it during game day. Coaches should be fire 10 minutes into the game. Really it was better in the offseason just to keep one entertained.
I understand teams getting rid of the ball quickly. It makes it impossible to get a sack. Sacks in that case don't mean anything. The problem I saw on Saturday was when certain defensive linemen left their responsibility and left an open lane for the qb to run. Also, part of the first half issues falls on Knowles and the defenses he called. Leaving to much cushion on their receivers, 5 in the box against 7 making it easy to run. Thats on him. In the second half he made different calls and made it difficult on Marshall. Maybe he did that purposely because Marshall is an inferior opponent. But he can't afford to do that for an entire half against better competition. We'll see what he does this week. MSU is certainly not the cream of the big ten, but they are better than our first 3 opponents.
Confuse rather than beat the defense? So, this explains our stand-up, let the d-line get under the o-line's pads, surrendering leverage blocking techniques? Zone blocking that says its okay to surrender leverage, just lean-on and try to turn the defender away from the hole. If my assessment is correct, won't better athletes be much more likely to blow up these block as they have been doing over the past couple of years? I wish someone with inside knowledge on how our o-line is taught would tell me what is going on.
The aggravation is more than just sacks. There's no pressure even when there's a drop back. And if he's getting rid of it so fast, WHY ARE OUR CORNERS 10 YARDS OFF THE RECEIVERS
You know, if you're ultra cheap, you could just go in on one month of Peacock for $7.99 with some friends, like a PPV. Then, just cancel before it renews.
Marshalls quarterback Stone Earl didn't play in the second half that's why you didn't see those drives Ohio State's defense didn't magically get better.
Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like, ya know how a qb is taught to throw the ball to a receiver where he's gonna be not where he's at, I feel like that's how sonny styles plays lb, like he never goes and gets them he waits to see where they're gonna go and then goes there and tries to tackle them and their momentum takes them 3 yds. He's not decisive or sudden at all. He needs a lot of work. I wouldn't be mad if reeves replaces him permanently
I know this sounds crazy but I seriously think ohio state in the off season needs to try no matter what to get Cam Heyward or Aaron Donald on the coaching staff too bring in excitement to the D-Line
@@TimLee356 I realize that and hope he stays for a while but if we destroy teams win it all NFL will come calling for Day and Walton and Hart maybe a head coach gig maybe even Knowels but feel we can keep Knowels we shall see we have a all star staff in my mind

Michigan State has the BEST pretzels I’ve ever had at a stadium!!! I was there two years ago and it was incredible……. That’s actually part of the reason I’m going back up there this Saturday!!! Go Bucks and Go Pretzels!!!!!
Reese in my opinion is like Downs but at LB. Natural and fluid. Watching Reese play LB makes Sonny Hicks and Cody seem late. Reese earned it figured it out and should be starting. Period
The LB mess also goes back to S&C gaffes - Coach Mick shrunk Simon down too much, he looks like a Safety and Styles was not built up enough to hold up against run game as a LB…This defense will get steamrolled again by strong run game opponents
Exactly, Birm. I've often wondered how the much better a talented O would look under a great O scheme too. And now we're seeing it. Looks pretty gosh darn good!
Why would NBC cut its legs off?Of its prime time match up with penn state in illinois? That's the one game I would have watched besides the buckeyes To put them in the same time slot is stupidity. And it's not a home game for us so it doesn't help with getting our recruits in
Birm is very honest with his takes and this makes him the most liked on the podcast. I enjoy listening to him on these podcasts. Arvel is absolutely the best linebacker.
Are you 2 afraid that Ryan Day will not call on you at press briefings?? Truthfully - Sonny Styles looks lost at LB. Josh Fryar allowed the sack didn’t even get a hit on the rusher. Why is Jack Sawyer standing like a LB? When are you going to turn Downs lose? These are questions!
The Buckeyes look very vulnerable on defense. Confused and uncertain. It was fortunate for the D that Marshall's QB was injured. Not saying Marshall would have come close to a win, but they were able to put our superior talent on their heels for 2 quarters with a competent QB. I hope I am wrong, but I am afraid we are going to get exposed real soon...on both sides of the ball.
Calm down just 2 weeks ago we were unbeatable and a week earlier the o line was supposed to suck. There was no defensive player of the game so the staff is aware. Trust this team.
How can you beat the desk for inexperienced guys to get more reps, then complain when those inexperienced guys dont look experienced? Especially in the 1st drive of the game? Then on top of that, Marshall comes with a game plan unlike what theyve put on film. The bottom line is, as the game went on and the D-Line settled down enough to finish the game only giving up a controversial end of 1st half td with a second half shut out. On top of that, the inexperieced guys gained some real game action and can see on film the "WHY" of their assignments to be better prepared on their next go round. So where's the disconnect? Is there lack of faith in the coaching staff to make needed corrections, because Knowies certainly seems engaged.
@@thomasridley458 "A bit slow"? If an opponent starts a game using a new scheme they haven't seen on film, how much time are they allowed for adjustment where it's not "too slow" for your taste? Especially if after a 1st drive TD the other team is held to one controversial scoring drive and a second half shut out? All that with more d-line rotations than usual. Btw, how do you even know adjustments weren't offered timely, because there was obviously some disconnect somewhere; considering Knowles reaction during media availability. These aren't excuses either, they are just the plain unemotional facts. Seriously, too slow?! if this was too slow, then how should Knowles have done his job?
OSU is about to destroy Sonny's career by forcing him in a square peg where he doesn't fit. They need to find the right place for him, and get over the hype about him. We've seen two impacts from this type of failure Steel C and X Johnson. Where are they now? Besides, the coach owes us to ensure the right people are in the right positions.
