      It is third least expensive Porsche, so not bad. Only 718 and Macan are less expensive, so in the Porsche world, not bad.

    This review is 100% on point in every aspect. I’ve had a RWD for a month now and LOVE it. I actually originally ordered a Tesla model Y BUT after 9 (NINE!) delivery delays, getting booted from Twitter after posting a screen shot of the delivery delays in tile format, and concerns about tesla quality i went with a base Taycan that was available locally within a month. Speaking of quoting country artists, and in reference to my RWD Taycan,I’d like to quote Rascal Flatts “God bless the broken road that led me straight to you”

      @supaahflyy 3 года назад +2

      @@almac9203 honestly I'd much prefer a Tesla at that price. The Taycan rwd is too slow at that price. 5 secs to 100kph is unacceptable when paying that much

    • @almac9203
      @almac9203 3 года назад +4

      @@supaahflyy firstly this is the entry version and there are quicker versions available for those that need more pace. Secondly the Porsche is quicker in real life and has better range than the figures suggest. All Porsche's are underrated whereas Tesla's are always overrated and that isn't me saying it but practically every tester. It is astounding you can get a Porsche for the price of a low rent Tesla. Porsche is more expensive than Tesla because it's better quality and is better built and has a better interior and handle better. A Porsche 911 costs more than an equivalent Corvette because it's better and its the same story with EVs. Porsche is better but Americans can do bang for your buck for those that want specs rather than quality.

    • @flowfiya4501
      @flowfiya4501 3 года назад +2

      OR JUST DONT GET 30K IN OPTIONS??? WEIRDO. THE STOCK TAYCAN WITH NO OPTIONS WILL GET WAY MORE CHICKS THAN ANY TESLA..FACTS.

    • @supaahflyy
      @supaahflyy 3 года назад +1

      @@almac9203 there's a lot of stuff right and wrong in your post. I'm Aussie and I know American cars over rate their figures because they include rollout. However you're wrong in that the Porsche is 'quicker' in real life. I said 5 secs. Mat Watson got 5.1 seconds. So no, it's not quicker than what I stated. I was being generous when I said 5.
      Better built? Undoubtedly. Better range than the figures suggest? Very true, that's not a question. Handle better? As of now I agree. When the plaid plus comes, no chance. A car that is over 20+ seconds a lap faster on the Nurburgring by extension handles better whilst being a much larger car than a Taycan. Agree with all the corvette vs 911 comments onwards.
      But you've forgot quite literally the biggest and arguably the only important point. Where do I charge this thing? Let's say for example I want to travel from Melbourne to Sydney which is 900km. Where do I charge this Taycan? Relying on third party networks that are unreliable and slow. Yes the Taycan charges 270kw peak. But how many of those chargers are there? I'll tell you. Here in Aus, 7. The UK. Not much better. Whereas Tesla's biggest advantage and strength is that they have heaps of superchargers even here in the neglected Australia, let alone the UK where there's quite literally 10-15x more than here. I've seen all the stats that's why I can say this confidentially. I've a Tesla myself with 160,000km's on it so I'm very experienced with how electric cars work, their positives, their negatives. And Ive also looked at trading it in for the Taycan. After my due diligence it always comes back down to 'whats the point of this car, it doesn't matter how good the car is, if I can't take it wherever I want'
      It's a glorified daily driver in the city that's about it. That isn't limited to the Taycan btw, that's all electric cars that rely on the pathetic third party networks.
      If you want to see my exact point illustrated, check out LoveCars RUclips channel. Tiff Needle is on there (ex fifth gear host) and his co worker. And see what it's like relying on third party network's. That will illustrate exactly my point.
      Now going back to the car in isolation, yeh fantastic car, still overpriced. You don't pay £100k and get that sort of slow acceleration. If anything you've mentioned that it's a Porsche, then by extension they should have a minimum level of performance as a Sports car/supercar brand. That's like buying a BMW M car that hits 60mph in 6 secs. It wouldn't be called an M.

  • @ankurjohriddsmd

    Best honest review of the Taycan. Many EVs will try to impress with specs and 0-60 times and HP. Reality is unless you are drag racing in a straight line then those numbers don’t matter much. This is a car that brings joy to the driver. For cruising around the back roads and even on the track, the luxurious interior , the beautiful curves (not boxy like other EVs), the superb handling and breaking make this an absolute animal.

    • @Maxzor11
      @Maxzor11 3 года назад +10

      @@MrSaintSoulja the entertainment is definitely sluggish compared to Tesla (or polestar for that matter) and also the car is slow compared to a similar priced model S, but the car itself it's just wonderful. It's lightyears better in general build quality and it drives like a true GT with sportcar DNA.
      If you want to win traffic light races or show off with fart sounds, buy a Tesla, if you want to arrive in style and class and be surrounded by nice materials and design, buy the Taycan.
      But hey, that's just coming from a Taycan owner 😉

      Hey Max is it worth switching from a 911 to a taycan. I actually daily driver my 911 a total of 84kms per day. I'm considering switching to a taycan because of the cost of "fuel". I can only afford the baseline rwd though.

      @@ivegotkids8455 hi, I only drove the 911 4S once. It feels lighter and more nimble then the Taycan. Also the off the line speed of the normal 911 is way higher. From around 40 km up the RWD Taycan is plenty fast. For me the Taycan is the better highway cruiser and also capable enough on the smaller twisty roads! With the amount of solar panels we have it's a no brainer, practically drive for free 😁

    Not boasting but I earn very good money, enough per year to but several Porsche taycans. Launch control is for boy racers. Would want a car to do what I expect it to do, get me from A to B in relative comfort and faster than I can walk and run. I drive would you believe a ford kuga 2011 2.5 turbo its smart its fast enough and I don't have to worry about complicated stuff going wrong. I've had the bentleys the Porsche's and even a rolls phantom but with all these high end cars I worried on a day to day basis about them getting trashed by jealous people, the cost of maintaining them. So I pour my money into my houses and my family. And still enjoy the fact my kuga gets me to places faster than I can walk or run. This knowledge comes with experience age and wisdom. Enjoy the fast cars. Thanks Rory for great review I might buy one in the future.

    Nice video. In the 4S the rear transmission is disconnected and you are driving on the front wheels only unless you step on it. That takes the advantage of using the high gear for range away. Does this one get extra range because of it. if so, I wonder why they just don't disconnect the front motor in a 4S to get more range.

    Most EVs do not rely on raw speed, as stated in the video. Nissan Leaf, Zoe, e-Golf, ID.3, are not known for raw speed. Teslas are known for raw speed. I think Taycan may be Porsche’s best selling model in 2021 thanks to this version.

    Do you think a real base Taycan without optional Pilot Sport 4s, optional brakes and I assume the optional four-wheel-steer, air suspension and active dampers would be close or equally good to drive?
    Don't think I've seen such a setup tested anywhere. Do you know any journo who's driven one?

    • @AutoTraderTV
      @AutoTraderTV  3 года назад +1

      I think you’d probably need to spec performance battery Plus £4,000 at a minimum. The rest you can probably do without. I expect it would drive really well. Might even be better without pilot sport 4 - weather depending of course.

      @@AutoTraderTV Thanks for thoughts! :-) Shame they seemingly don't have them as press cars... I think in Cali they had a pretty barebones 911 non S a few years back but that's about it. How are you supposed to form an opinion on an entry level car if they just spec all the demos with all the Turbo S performance extras except the bigger motors and ceramics....
      (even those coated break discs with the white calipers are 2.975€ here...)

      I suspect their cars would usually get worse reviews if they didn’t fill them with extras to make them feel better. Bog standard cars usually leave a worse impression.

    The whole RWD vs AWD fun difference doesn't make any sense for electric cars. You have two independent motors, so you can easily turn an AWD electric car into RWD. Better to save the money and get a Model 3 Performance. Just turn on Track mode, set rear bias to 100, stability control off, now you have a fun RWD electric car that can do 0-60 in around 3.1s, and it's lighter.
