In this video I leave my camp at Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area in Ohio. I head towards the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. I find a nice camp to relax for a day then head up to the ridge to do some hiking to see the area.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

Kentucky has more miles of running stream water then any other state (except Alaska) Lots of pure water springs also.
Thanks for that fact/info. Didn’t know that.
For some reason I've been having the urge of wanting to live in /move to Kentucky
@@zacplaysleague5868 Make sure you visit a lot first. Kentucky is very different, if you’ve been living in civilization... extremely high rate of people living on disability and the back country is very behind.
Kentucky is civilized, granted there are a few issues but all states have their own unique set of problems. We are not that far behind, I have 5g internet, etc. Lol. We aren't stuck in cave times, we've moved on up to the 21st century. Wish you well and have a great time in my beautiful state.
Thank you for the info. That’s so cool. When I was a child you could drink out of the river near me. Not anymore. At least it’s still beautiful.
Hello Kentucky 👋🏿 Thanks for sharing ✌🏿
What a great way to start my day. Another great video from the Van Man to watch, while I have my coffee. Thank you sir!
I totally agree!
Still love living vicariously thru your journey... 🕊️
I said the same thing! He makes the best videos!
Thank you for sharing those beautiful sights in the Kentucky Trailhead. That one huge butte with the trees on top was spectacular! Dinner looked delicious! Safe travels as you explore more of the state.😉👍
Great hike! So amazingly beautiful. Thx.
I just don't feel safe hiking alone😕
I used to maintain the payphones at the Frenchburg Job Corps Center located in the RR Gorge. Was the first one to drive thru the Nada Tunnel once when there was 8 inches of fresh snow! Absolutely beautiful to see the all the ice hanging over the tunnel entrance & exit. Breathtakingly beautiful. Felt like I was entering a Jurassic Park!
You make my Monday morning coffee all the better. Ty
Now we know why Daniel Boone loved his Kentucky!
I live in Tennessee and have been to KY a few times,......beautiful forests and mountains!.....God bless you and stay safe and healthy!.....good to see you traveling again!
Oh man the Van life, I wish I was younger, I'd join you out there, what freedom, I traveled in the music industry for 30 years, but I couldn't enjoy my travels because of my work out there, I would have loved to travel like your doing, just free to see the sights, fell the Breese on your face, man thank you for showing your exciting ventures, loving you're video's, always Elvis ❤👍❤💯❤👋⚡

Oh man I'm sorry, I thought you were in love with your travels, I always loved the traveling, I loved seeing different places, different people, I just never got to spend anytime visiting places, that till this day I would give anything to visit...Im 100 percent disabled now, im a Diabetic, so my travels are over, God bless you my friend...I hope you find happiness out there in the freedom of the highway, always Elvis 👍🙏☝️⚡

I live in Lexington and have been been to Red River Gorge many times it's different every time. Love my home state.
It would be a shame to miss Big South Fork area as you move south.... YOUR IN FOR A TREAT BRAIN. ✌🏻
Love your videos. Thank you for taking me along. Beautiful scenery. Have a blessed day.
Much Love❤Brian sorry I missed you when I was in upper michigan...my soul mate passed away 6 weeks ago that wanted to meet you...explore the keeweenaw in honour of Armas...100%Finnish Man🥰
Sorry to hear about your loss!🙏🏻😘🙏🏻
My condolences.
Sorry for your loss
Beautiful.
Have family from Ironton. My late grandmother helped establish the college campus there. If it wasn't for that, the place would have become a ghost town since all the industry there got shut down. Carlisle Tile that was there made much of the tile that was put into the White House years ago.
I believe you showed the rock house, a natural shelter in the walls of the rock cliffs where I and many other folks have camped. You have to climb about 30 feet up a natural chimney to get to it, but the views from inside are spectacular. Kentucky is loaded with so much natural beauty, you may not want to leave.
SO AWESOME that the Vesuvius Iron Furnace also supported the Underground Railroad. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Safe adventuring ahead!
Excellent site, thanks for taking us along. Told you we'd be quiet.
You are in my neck of the woods. The Daniel Boone National Forest is wonderful.
RRG is definitely one of the most stunning areas in KY. If you are looking for a lesser known gem on the way to TN check out the Big South Fork NRRA. It straddles the border and is a huge and gorgeous region. The Blue Heron area on the KY side is a restored mining community on the banks of the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. It has a cool self-guided interpretive tour and you can take a ride on a historic narrow guage train ride there and back from Stearns (or just drive). The TN side has a place called Twin Arches that include two of the tallest sandstone arches in the eastern US. Lot's of goid camping and hiking options.
Lot of it is wheelchair accessible too!
Loved that place. Went on trail ride on horseback. Beautiful
I loved Kentucky way more than I thought I would. Beautiful spot you found. Great hike. LOVED the edits. I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the beautiful view!
I had a desire for masala the other day. Umm
Your 75k subscribers are hard earned and true fans vs the 300k subscriber Van girls who post video of them waking up in 300 thread count cotton sheets and proceed to wash their hair.
Just catching up after being busy for a while. Great comment and so, so true.
Kentucky is one of the prettiest states we have

WOW What a Tunnel!!
You captured some beautiful scenery.
I truly appreciate your sharing.
Many blessings. Peace ✌️💙
You have to see it in person. Most incredible place in Kentucky
@@Mr70455 thanks Andrew, much of area looks very ancient.
Beautiful thank you Brian ❤️🙏
That was a very special trail. ..wow, spectacular.
Omg, the tunnel!
So beautiful. That's what's so nice and was so unexpected for me moving from California to New England - that the scenery is always changing, little by little, through each season. What was beautiful green forest changes to the colors of fall and, as the leaves fall, new vistas open up, so the same place is never the same. Did you know that Kentucky has the largest cave system in the world? Hope Mammoth Cave is open and you can visit it. Peace and continued good health to you. ☮️
Kentucky is a beautiful state. Nice hike and safe travels Brian. 🍁🍁🍁👍😊
Wow! Truly spectacular and peaceful.
Welcome to Kentucky! Thanks for sharing the beauty of RRG. Hope you enjoyed your visit and safe travels.
Thank you!
Wow, some amazing people worked the iron belt, helping slaves reach freedom. Blessings to them!
Very beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Stay safe!👍😘🙏🏻🐾🐾
Looks like a beautiful place. Kentucky is one state I have never been in.
Nice place camping 👍🤩
America the beautiful. Thanks for letting us tag along. Great looking meal. Yum.
Looks like you arrived here in KY just in time for the best weather of the year. Our unbridled humidity has left us for a few days and this week will be beautiful. If you plan to stay in KY on your way south there is a good chance of clear weather to see the moonbow at Cumberland Falls in about 10 days.
Enjoy, This is as good as it gets here in KY.
That was a beautiful location with some great hikes. It’s a great place to visit and especially nice without the crowds in the campsites.
Wow! That tunnel was cool!! 🤩 That view from the cliff was Spectacular!! Yes the bare trees gave it a Magical view!! Thank You for sharing! 😁🙏🏼💜🌟🕊

Thanks for another great video. I’m in Louisville. Native Californian transplant. 😊
I loved that you stopped and showed us the historical marker. I always love those when I travel.
Love to live vicariously through you 😍. I'm surprised there's no snow where you've been recently. Looking forward to where you land in Florida... Don't t forget to check out Fort Desoto (park, beach, campsite-crowded, the fort itself and the views!) 👍✌️🌄

Creative editing and a really nice hiking area, reminds me of S Illinois terrain. I'd have certainly been mushroom hunting for oysters and hens on that hike! A couple of good references are; Learn your Land and Old Man of the Woods
I know there's salamanders and such in those streams; love any and all of your water videos! Possibly stop and see what you can find in those streams 😊
