    In this video, we tell you about the history of the chimneyless sauna in Gallen-Kallela Museum premises, Tarvaspää. The chimneyless sauna, smoke sauna, is a part of Akseli Gallen-Kallela Museum Foundation properties, therefore the heating of the sauna and bathing too is a part of museum work here.
    The heating of the sauna was documented during first snowfall in 2023 with the support os The Finnish Sauna Association.
    Stages of heating the sauna:
    Preparing: choppoing firewood, fillinf water vessels, hosing inside walls and benches and opening smoke hatch in the back wall.
    Beginning of heating, about 6-7 hours until bathing
    Maintaining the fire, about 2-3 hours period
    Fading the fire, about 2 hours to bathing. Throwing water to heater stones to expell carbon monoxide and soot. Rinsing and airing the sauna. Closing the smoke hatch.
    Enjoying the sauna, about 3-4 hours of bathing time.
