Suggestion from a Louisiana person. Drill a hole in the pipe n tap it and place a screw in air valve like for a bicycle. Upstream of it close to unit, cut the pipe and put a pvc valve. Every once in a while close the valve n put airhose on bicycle valve, or anything you see fit to put there, and blow out anything in the pipe downstream to sump or end of drain line. Our AC units are located in out attics in the south so we have a drain pan under the unit with pvc pipe going thru attic to outside of home. This was one of the easiest ways to assure that pipe did not clog up n pan fill n water in the house n in my home it was water in my walk in closet n all over my clothes n personal items. I'm glad i don't work there anymore because people brought in so many things at a certain point it all seemed garbage to me. You get some customers but we got trailers with goods. Every day every hour. God thanks i don't do that work anymore :p By the way we got all for free we didn't pay for goods. Just deliver it in or go somewhere else.
My father was a master plumber and ran a plumbing business for 20 years w 16 vans. His trick on that pan clog issue... put a few chlorine pool tablets in the pan ... as the pvc release pipe discards the overflow, the chlorinated water from the tablets prevents the algae growth in the pipe which causes that clog. ✌️☘️
@@jaimhaas5170 No, impossible to be from leaf litter. Unless Pete has trees growing in the crawl space. It’s an internal ac unit mount... the drain got clogged from algae /slime growth.
Next time just use a shop vacuum on the condensation line! There are usually two drain lines on an A/C unit, one on the cabinet and one on the pan. The pan is the back up incase the primary drain stops up. So you probably need to clean that one also!
My cat does that too, with the brush. He grabs it in his paws so he can scratch his face with it. But, I still have to hold the brush, if I let go, he lets go.
You should have an emergency cut off attached to the condensate pan. It will kill the a/c unit when the water gets to high. Also. You should have all of that serviced twice a year, once for sure. Get a clean filter in the intake. Change it monthly.

You can put a float switch on that drain that will stop the air conditioner until the drain is un plugged. You can tie the switch into your alarm system as a 24 hour point.

Heh my home A/C did the same thing years back, so I cut the pipe as well, installed a valve so I could close off the air handler side from the drain, and installed a T connector to hook up a garden hose. Now I can just turn the valve to isolate the drain line, and let the hose blast all the gunk through to the outside of the house where the drain outlets, which is conveniently enough right next to the outside hose hookup. I just turn the isolation valve, hook up the hose, walk outside and turn the hose on, and watch the nasty come out once a year.

A condensate pump with backup float switch would get rid of over flows and reduce the risk of plugging altogether. Ask your HVAC customers to do it for store credit.
