How come from 46:55-48:26, your hotbar and hand didn't match? Additionally, your movements were also odd during the time compared to the rest of the video. Did you not record, and have to use a mod to imitate your actions or something?
Not to overstate my feelings, but I really think this is a cultural horror masterpiece. It takes a good amount of both minecraft understanding and RUclips understanding to know what feels so wrong but it Is horror and goddamn this is beautifully done
Totally agreed. That haunting feeling of being stuck in an empty world was captured perfectly here. It's like some kind of classical depiction of hell. Spoilers: Actually shook when Kenadian never came back. It's like he died. Goodness.
Theres something so poetically unsettling about how in the end euphoria and "freedom" was felt by escaping to literal hell. I mean on a game mechanic standpoint yeah it makes sense ofc but idk i think its kinda just cool that this also sinked up on a story telling level which all just adds up to the conceptual horror of it all. Nice 👌
@@venuslim9883 i really loved how it was so opposite of what we know, but if you are trapped in a purgatory of nothingness, a lot would prefer hell because there is… something
As soon as Wifies asked, "can you let me out?" I figured something was amiss.. My theory being he was a hallucination. The reveal was brilliantly executed and even more excellently foreshadowed. This was a masterclass in simple psychological horror. Thank you for this.
Genuinely didnt expect any of this when I first clicked on the video. Everyone else is right, this is hands down one of the best depictions of Minecraft horror I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. The "this would be so much easier if you stayed" line at the beginning, the slow descent to madness after Ken leaves, the euphoria once you realized wandering traders and pillagers could spawn, and the cold dread that followed immediately after when they didn't show up for days. I especially like the first Wandering Trader interactions. All this talk of "you're more useful to me dead", the brief moment of hesitation before ultimately deciding that there wasn't any point being 'sentimental' kinda contrasting the ending where you look back on all the builds from the beginning with Wifies. And also after, when you pick up lava from the pool Ken found, and the flag you got when Wifies was 'around' like WOW YEAH!! There is always room for sentiment!! In a world as barren as this, sentiment (or I suppose, memory) is very important to hold onto!! (But then again, the more you think about it, the more warped that memory becomes. Ig that's why Wato ignores the dirt fort for a good while? Not only because it's tedious but also because ignoring it is easier than seeing a happy memory get tainted over and over and over again. Idk. Something to think about. Or maybe I'm making it deeper than it needs to be. This video is just very thought provoking for some reason.) And the editing style?? Absolutely chef's kiss. Never thought I'd come out of this video with tears in my eyes but damn!! Good job!! Storytelling is on fleek!! I wish I had the vocabulary to convey how much I love this video but the best I can do is list off the moments I liked the most!! Props to everyone involved in the video, honestly, the voicework was perfect. This is definitely something to be proud of!!
The “then we can get out of here” “Yeah… and we can get out of here!-” “Well, YOU can get out of here.” “….Yeah. Yeah- yeah-…” is so fucking devastating. Oh my god
spent this entire video gripping my head, the editing on this video is insane and it feels like being in a fever dream in an eerie way (the blue text the xray shots the FOG just everything that contributed to the atmosphere and tone). all the character acting was fantastic and made me feel sick in the head, especially wifies.
LOVE the fact most clicked on expecting a 100 day challenge, and i mean it startes off like that the energy and everything buuut it slowly changes. never expected it to turn out like this but im all about it holy crap
timestamps i like 24:21 - unnamed island; dirt bridge 37:47 - cool zoom effect 40:56 - goodbye 1:21:14 - you. 1:27:35 - despawn 1:38:22 - all this green feels gray 1:39:28 - day in and day out 2:19:17 - how did he even get there? 2:23:38 - oh 2:32:35 - my ride's here
Im only about 15 minutes in, but i love how little you care about the algorithm or how this will be percieved. It really seems like you just wanted to make something youre proud of, and this is more like an actual movie than a typical minecraft video Really great work, looking forward to watching the rest
@@avatardotpng exactly my inspiration. I decided retention was stupid and just want to make something beautiful about something I thought was really neat.
The fact you genuinely managed this in survival mode is insane, I love the details put into it, all the words that pop up really sort of gave it this haunting feeling. The whole idea of solitary confinement, the haunting silence as Wifies doesnt pick up the blocks, the ticking past of the days, the way the only mob in the entire world locks Wato in place as Ken leaves. I think its really poetic how in this, Wato constantly mentions the sun rising/setting, the redish orange glow of the sun and moon, the way it tints the sky. Its bittersweet to think about as wato jumped into the lava, they probably thought about the rising sun, and the warmth that came with it. Absolutely incredible video!! :]
The editing is really cool. You made this weird and uncanny feeling really come from the video. I got totally taken by surprise by the Wifies-hallucination-reveal X) Also mad respect for having played until the end of the hundreds of days, it must have been very long :') Nice video :D
Gonna be so real, before Wifies even got into the video, I looked at the comments and saw this one. Honestly, knowing this didn't even ruin it. Infact, it gave me a sense of dread knowing that it'll happen at some point. But I caught it, the clues. First, the fact that he couldn't be hit, and second when they were at the "end portal" and Wifies asked if he could be let out (even though he could've broken it himself)
@@Wato-1876I kind of suspected it would happen, he didn’t take damage, never broke blocks.. I just felt a sense of bittersweetness knowing that you had someone to speak to, and a great sadness when you realized he wasn’t real.
I'm an hour in and this is horrifying. Edit: Two hours in and it's still horrifying, but I don't wanna let that stop you. I study this kind of emptiness and insanity, so it hits harder for me. I'm freaking ADORING this video. I really enjoy horror and enjoy horror like this every once in a while. Yes, mate. You made a horror video. Call it survival horror or existential horror, but it is horror. You should consider writing a movie. Like, legit, this editing is pretty much flawless and your execution of characters is beautiful. Constant see-sawing back and forth between sanity and insanity. Anger, hopelessness, acceptance, hope, and anger again.
Just finished it. I'd adore an eventual video where you spawn with just your special items and survive in the nether. New world so you can get to the end truly.
this video is beautiful. there is nothing else to say. it's beautiful. i sat and watched it all and not once was i 'bored'. watching wato go insane over the days, to the point they hallucinated his friend, just to end it once they finally had their well-earned freedom, was honestly tear-jerking. the fact they never saw ken again was heartbreaking. i want more of this raw, long-form, story-oriented minecraft content. it's beautiful.
ok wow this feels like a hell/afterlife/limbo space and the only task you need to do to get out/move on is to light the nether portal and go to another dimension which in this barren land, is the most tedious task. And ironically the nether is just another hell that you fall into... So its like a neverending cycle in a way loved every second of this the vibes, showcasing minecraft knowledge expertise from time to time, the story, the editing, the fact its literally a hundred days, gj
spoilers for later in the video! THERES SO MANY SMALL THINGS THAT DRIVE ME INSANE. specifically when Wifies shows up and you just feel the uncanniness, the way it's all a little wrong. when you realize he never places or breaks blocks or has to hunger reset. or when he dips out of wato's field of view and the reappears somewhere unexpected or impossible. the slow pieces being brought together and the music building as he cant pick up the blocks. as you realize hes not REAL. genuinely haunting. THE MOAT AROUND KENS HOUSE. FALLS TO MY KNEES
The amount of detail gone into this video is insane. I genuinely believe wifies was a real player until I then realized when wato did what wifies really was. This entire video is amazing, shows what can happen to someone when they’re trapped alone for a long period of time
I clicked on this thinking it was another ordinary 100 days minecraft video to have on in the background while I was drawing. I would tune in from time to time and really stopped when the two were building the trees in the very beginning, thinking it was an unexpectedly tender and beautiful moment for the type of video I thought I was watching. Sat down tonight and hunkered down to watch the rest of the two hours and was just Entranced. This really is a beautiful work of art, eerie and melancholy, the unique colors of the shaders, the way everything created is slowly eaten away, the moments of happiness and togetherness, and that beautiful ending. This will stay with me for a long time. Amazing work!!!!
this was amazing. the landscape being so alien yet familiar. the emotional performance and the editing just highlighting the monotony yet inevitable decay of the world, and what one could do to work against the entropy. thoroughly enjoyed watching the whole 2 and a half hours of the video
it's really hard to put into words how incredible this video was. i watch a lot of minecraft content and i don't think anything i've watched up to this point has affected me as much as this. there's something about this that invokes an incredible sense of...dread, or rot, or something like that. you portrayed the feeling of wasting away so viscerally it's incredible, the sensation of watching time move as nothing around you changes and you are left in your own loneliness and grief. i had a pretty emotional reaction to the whole thing lol, i didn't expect to cry as much as i did. and i really loved how it felt so freakin' long, like it was 100 real life days instead of the 33 or so hours that 100 minecraft days is. it made it feel that much more sad. i kept joking with my friends that if this was some french existentialist play written in the mid-1900s that people would be studying it in college classes, but seriously, there is so much to take away from this that i don't think it's much of a joke anymore. the human experience of loneliness, depression, of feeling stuck and being unable to do anything but pray for something in your life to change, there is *so much* in here and i find that incredible. numerous essays on completely different topics could be written about this. genuinely, thank you (and all the people involved) for making this.
This is amazing, it mixes liminal and spacial horror with this is knowing that there isn't anything to fear, to know that there might be nothing ti gain and everything is meaningless, amazing
This kinda encapsulated the feeling I have when one of my online friends deleted their ACC and likely died, why do I care about them why did I care what are they doing now are they kicking around now. What is the point of life if every acomblishment gets eroded by the passing of time...
@@The-h9x You have to remind yourself to never fall into that mindset, live for the future, live in the present, maybe wait for someone to make immortality, don't think about it, it'll be alright
this is such incredible storytelling; i’m only 49:02 in and i still can see how much effort and passion went into making this. the way wato and kenadian are characterized just feels entirely real and it’s crazy that this came from a 100 days video - new sub thank you for this video.
my god this is underrated. psychological horror, emotions we have no name for yet know exactly how they feel. two and a half hours of beautiful editing. it’s just a block game, but that’s just it. that’s the simplicity of it. I can’t describe this in any other way than beautiful, Wato, thank you for creating it. Kudos.
I really love this and the direction Minecraft cinema is moving, Ivory’s whitepine, the release of BBS mod(by mchorse), Burssty’s despotism and just the lore element of UU and such. (Just more recent examples)
I never thought I would finish a 2-and-a-half hour Minecraft video, especially not one set in an empty world. But this isn’t just another challenge video. It’s a work of art.
There's a mod called Essential which allows you to make singleplayer worlds into multiplayer worlds anyone can join, you can also not use it if you don't have to. And, as shown by the pause screen itself, he is. There's the explanation :3
Man, just finished it and it is truly brilliant the editing, the storytelling so gripping, so lonely so many small twists and turns, truly a beautiful movie
1:49:51 A new player (Wifies) stands on spawn. He wasn't there before the cut and the time that was cut seem to have only lasted seconds. How did he get there in that timespan? 1:52:59 He is able to determine how the banners were procured. Could this just be Wifies being knowledgeable in Minecraft or could it be something else? 1:57:05 "...maybe when you finally get out of here and best the Ender Dragon..." He is able to determine that Wato wants to beat the game. This could just be Wifies asuming that what Wato's doing is part of a 100-Day Challenge, which is very easily deduceable. Or....... something else yet again." 1:57:31 Wifies talks about the lonely stars of Minecraft, indirectly talking about the situation Wato has been in for more than 50 days. 2:00:25 "Oh right. Ken made the other one, right?" Prior to this interaction, Wato never said anything about Ken to Wifies, not even his name. Of course, there were multiple cuts before this interaction. It is possible that Wato could've said it then. The way Wato nonchalantly responds to Wifies' question also lends credence to this theory. But...... what if he hadn't? How did Wifies already knew who Ken was and what he did with Wato? And why did Wato not react to the fact that Wifies already knew that? 2:04:12 "Grass is normal, but..... this doesn't feel normal." He shares the same sentiment Wato has with the grass. This could just be him naturally feeling the oddity and uncanny world he is in. Or it could be more than that. 2:05:47 He refuses to build a tree with Wato. He said he should just "leave it to the professionals", but is he telling the truth? 2:06:17 Wifies somehow crossed the water before Wato finished the dirt bridge. How did he do that? Even Wato himself was temporarily baffled by this. 2:13:18 "It's like the world has a mind of its own." Wifies, yet again, shares a sentiment Wato agreed with. 2:14:32 "What happened to Ken?" Wifies asks the question seemingly out of nowhere. There was no buildup, no subtle transition, nothing. Is he trying to make Wato's mind focus on Ken and what could've happened to him? 2:17:37 He was about to ask Wato something, but then he declined himself and laughed it off. What was he about to ask? Could it be about Ken? The time Wato had with Ken? The good times? The better times? 2:19:02 Wifies : "Do you think that the endermen think that you are griefing the world?" Wato : "I choose to not think about that.' Wifies : "Me too." Wifies just arrived in this world a few moments ago and in those moments, he had never broke or placed any block nor any item. He hasn't been griefing the world. What did he mean by saying "me too"? Why did he agree with Wato? 2:19:21 Wifies yet again appearing in an impossible manner. Just like last time, Wato was briefly baffled before rationalizing his presence there. Even more baffling is that when Wato goes in the tower to get to Wifies...... the stairs weren't there and the floor was covered up. Wifies couldn't have stood where he stood, so how did he do that?" 2:20:20 Wifies now stands on top of Wato and Ken's Tower without any sign of him ever jumping out Wato's Dirt Hotel. Something is definitely off about him. 2:22:50 "You wanna put it that way?" Wifies asked this ominous question after Wato stared that Wifies is proof that he isn't alone and that life is good. What did he mean by this? Could he be referring to how hellish his life has been and still is? Or could it refer to him always being alone, even now with Wifies beside him?
2:23:43 The truth crashes down on Wato. Wifies....... is and has always been, a hallucination. He appears out of nowhere at spawn, his hotel, and the tower because he is not tangible. He refuses to build a tree with him becuase he literally can't. He knows things he hasn't told him yet and agrees with his sentiments because he is something Wato's mind made up. Wifies is not, and has never been, real.
I'm not SUPER into Minecraft (I have watched a few Wifies and Kenadian videos and I'm assuming that's why this was recommended to me), but the presentation of this movie(?) had me immersed for the past 155 minutes. The atmosphere invoked by the lighting mods, the fog filter on everything, the subtle increasing and decreasing of the brightness to suit the mood of the scene... it's all fantastic. I found myself getting stressed out when your character was wandering around with Wifies in particular, forcing conversation, having that really unsettling feeling that something isn't wrong here or that Wifies knows something that you don't. I won't post spoilers, but the characterization, the atmospheric aesthetic, the choice of music throughout, it's all cinematic masterpiece. Very well-done!
bro i'm not even 10 minutes in and i'm already in love with this video. i love the idea of the storytelling in "quotes" at random. keep it up! definitely coming back for another day!!
Wow. This video is a slow emotional journey disguised as a normal challenge video. I love the slow pacing and deafening silence that makes the impactful moments stand out more. The Kenadian end, the villager death, and especially the Wifies reveal really hit me hard emotionally. You could probably make an equally long video just analyzing the themes of this one. Well done!
By far the most interesting, compelling, cinematic, and unique "100 days" video I have ever seen. This is exactly the kind of content Minecraft needs more of. It has such untapped potential and I'm glad you had the courage to explore it. I want to write more but I don't even know what to say. This is genuinely a masterpiece. Thank you so much for making this.
This is, genially, one of the BEST videos i've watched this year. The amount of care you put into this had me watching this from 1am to 3am STRAIGHT WITHOUT PAUSE. I've found your channel out of luck, and I can't be happier to be granted this blessing. This was a masterpiece. Especially when the screen went black with just "you." THAT send CHILLS down my spine. I cant explain how much I love this. Thank you for making this video.
oooh this is so cool already and im only 41 minutes in , the little speech ken made before he left and the way u got paralyzed by the endermen was so cinematic, makes me wonder if it was planned, i do wish the brightness was set a little higher for the nights i cant see anything
what a beautiful example of a "liminal" area. there are arguments for either side of liminal areas: the ones that feel surreal, in their basic definitions, that people *should* be in, but not even the barest of life is seen. it's a beautiful, empty, plastic plains. the grass is vibrant and the sky is dull, bright blue, perfect. the water looks shiny and clean with these shaders as well. for the other side, which i don't know the proper term for, 'tiktok liminal', the idea of a liminal space that isn't liminal in a classic definition, moreso gently captures the feeling of it. an empty plains isn't a new idea, and is even seen as comforting to people. this is a beautiful area with the shaders, and gives a weird nostalgia that some people associate with it. even if there's no actual nostalgia. this comment is a jumble but i *really* like how this place starts out looking.
i like the silent moments they really emphasize how absolutely nothing the world, filled only with conversation or your own voice. Reading the comments it turns more horror? I mean, i was deffo getting ARG vibes with the delivery of words as well as the blue text, idk if it would be ARG? Idk what it really means but it has the vibes of it!! Im like 12 minutes in and cant wait, it is so cool
Late to this, but - I want to say that this articulated a specific depression mood that I've never seen anything else capture. Filling your days with Literally Nothing to try to escape how damn boring it is being stuck, knowing it's all purposeless... And then having to justify to another person (or to yourself) how little you've done, how nothing you've managed has mattered at all. It hurts. This is really, really good, and thank you for it.
I clicked on this video thinking it would be a Luke TheNotable type. Instead I got to take a journey into great storytelling and crippling self derealization. Damn. Definitely subscribing.
he's also an emerald, if you have experimental trading enabled in end barrens you can sell a water bottle, water bucket, or milk bucket to him and you can use the emerald to get eight logs with experimental trading (saplings cost five emeralds) but it's probably more worth it to just go to the nether
GOD this needs so much more attention. i stayed up all night to examine this (2 days of no sleep and still going strong unfortunately but it was SO worth it to take in this art !!)
Also I love that there's no music, it forces you to focus on the fact that it is infact barren. there's nothing there except endermen, dirt, and your own hands. like the conversations suddenly become very sad and desolate. the constant sound of teleporting endermen also makes it slightly worse (in a good way)
I like how you guys are only using your knowledge to try progress instead of having planned out it all in a separate creative world makes it far more interesting as I genuinely can’t think of a way to progress from dirt
I saw someone do a “beat Minecraft without placing blocks” and they showed it was possible to construct the frame needed for a nether portal by flowing water onto a deep enough lava lake. If a way to start a fire shows up that could be a way forward.
in first twenty(-ish?) minutes i get so much homoeroticism, you can't even believe it then i was truly immersed. beautiful work. for example, when you said "flammable" i just jumped on my bed. i almost yelled on my screen question, why you didn't created portal without bucket, you need to just direct water to lava with blocks. oh, i really have hard time with it. nice work.
i loved how cinematic this felt. the editing was also amazing! i loved the mini arcs like kenadian and hallucination wifies. i am curious if it was planned for kenadian to leave partway through or if they really did just give up on the idea.
For some reason the video gave me peace. Ive has my head wrapped up in life that I havent had the willpower to take myself out for a bit. The video was amazingly executed, and it felt real. Thank you, genuinely.
This. Gave me Portal After Hours vibes near the end, with all the glitching. I enjoyed this. If there is ever a continuation in the form of 100 days in the nether, getting everything you could need for starting up in the overworld. I’d watch it. In a heartbeat.
ive been left in tears. one of the best minecraft videos ive ever watched. i dont think ill be thinkin of anythin else for the next few weeks. the actin and the cinematics were fantastic, the editin especially was really interestin and added so much to the atmosphere! the last 15 or so minutes were actual perfection. i loved the music slowly fadin in as wifies was revealed to not be real (and thus you were alone again). such a cool subtle thing. the end was just. ough. real tears. fantastic piece. utterly incredible. horrendously underrated channel
Wow. When I first saw the thumbnail, I was like “woah, for 2.5 hours? That sounds super boring.” But I’m so glad I tabbed it for later, because pretty soon after I started watching it, I could tell that that was just the tip of the iceberg. And what I got was a veritable indie film about going insane. Good work. Will definitely recommend to my friends ❤️
this is genuinely beautiful . Its well crafted and charming. I'm not finished watching yet but I'd call this an art form and a good narrative. The visuals add to the heavy feeling of emptiness and the subtle edits are such a good touch
There is beauty in simplicity. What makes us human is our ability to find meaning in nothingness. We manage to overcome even the most improbable challenges. Surpass even the highest peaks... and still keep going.
clicked on this thinking its another 100 day minecraft challenge, i just wanted some background noise turns out i was very wrong and this is so much more than a simple minecraft video and i expect to see a 4 hour analysis of this in the future
What a cinematic masterpiece! The editing, the uncanny biome, the wifies hallucination, ken leaving - it's all just so well put together! I loved this, the storytelling was awesome and mad respect to you for playing the full 100 days too! This kind of content will ALWAYS be far better than a 30 second short that you forget after scrolling away. I really hope you make more of this kind of content but whatever you enjoy making will find the right people! (P.S also I loved the cinema where wifies doesn't show up in some shots, very clever!)
This video is genuinely beautiful. The way it depicts loneliness and how it feels to be stuck is just indescribable I can't believe that I stumbled into a RUclips challenge video and came out having had such a moving experience. Thank you so much for this video
The pure awe and horror and despair around day 60 was incredible. Subbed, what great storytelling. Cool editing too. Someday I feel like I'll watch a video essay about the existential horror captured here.
A thought like half an hour into this: technically you could fill in blocks in the lava so there's only enough lava that would make a portal frame, and the little pools are low enough that you could flow water down to it. You could at most build a portal frame, but you'd still need fire. All you'd actually need is one iron ingot to make a flint and steel, and you'd be able to make it to the nether. That or fire spreading somehow.
just finished the whole video, teared up at least 3 times. never have i seen such an uncanny masterpiece like this ever. wato you are amazing, this storytelling was truely something. thank you so much as i will never forget this video
This is a beautiful video. I love that this came to be, that you didn’t care about if the algorithm would like it or not. This video brought out so much emotion from me, I will admit that it did make me shed a tear. I’m also a big fan of the way you edited this it was so eerie but not too over the top. Truly amazing work.
i really wanted to leave some long comment. but i don't even know what to say. this video… or i would say a movie. this is a masterpiece. a pure masterpiece. thank you
Alright I'm 1 hour in so far and I came up with a way out. 1: get a wandering trader to drop his milk bucket, and get an ominous banner from a pillager captain. 2: fill the bucket with water. 3: go to a lava source underground and make a nether portal frame 4: place the banner down next to the portal and near the lava for it to catch fire and light the portal. 5: the rest is self explainatory.
This is beautiful dude, I don't even know what to say. I didn't know what I expected clicking on this video but it definitely wasn't this lol Genuinely teared up at the reveal with Wifies near the end there, and I don't know how much of the symbolism/metaphors that I picked up on were intended but they hit hard. The editing was so fantastic, the acting was spot-on, and the atmosphere was perfect. Definitely spooked me a few times, especially the little 4th wall breaking moment at 1:21:17. The whole thing was really just amazing, honestly I had to pause just to geek out about how well it all worked together a good amount of times. It's definitely the type of video that's gonna be in the back of my mind for a while, and something to think about while I work on projects of my own. If you ever decide to make more videos like this in the future I will be seated!!
Continuing to go on with no visible hope in the horizon. I really like this video. It means something to me. Both for myself and multiple other people I know. Thank You.
@ i think you should watch it, it’s really good. im not 100% sure if im right here, but i think he basically started hallucinating wifies. they spent some time together but eventually wato realised that wifies wasn’t really there, because wifies wasn’t picking up blocks that were in front of him (so he couldn’t have been real)
good lord, watching this video felt like a mental journey. you deserve way more recognition, the editing, commentary and just overall vibe was top notch. cheers man
@@abisdeon318 i’m glad you enjoyed, it took me a while to make and it was a ton of time and effort. Nostalgia- I haven’t heard of much-but it makes sense as early Minecraft felt… barren
Loved this vid usually minecraft vids are loud and obnoxious or quiet and boring this is quiet and calm while being entertaining this feels like some shit i would find at 2am on a stretchy free streaming google website Its a really good vid 👌
Just finished the whole video, I was not expecting to watch this fully when starting, but it had me captivated the whole time! It's such an interesting way to tell a story naturally! There's many messages you could take from this story, it's rather beautiful. The urge to create, the futility and impermanence of existence, the perseverance of humanity, the need for connection. I hope Kenadian is okay.
random fact i was like chatting w/ my friends while watching this video and i kept yapping about this video and i think my friends are now sick of me! uhhhhhhhh yay!
this impressed me deeply and gave me some inspiration. Nice philosophy, dialogues, producing and even some storytelling. Usually I don’t comment, hah. Took me near three day to watch with my attention problems, but worth it
Amazing video. Things seemed and felt impossible for the longest time, but you proved it wrong. I never would have thought about getting the bucket from the wandering trader. I can't help but wonder-- what happened to Ken?
How I imagined it was that Ken logged after reaching half a bar of hunger, knowing he can’t go on without starving to death while not wanting to respawn and have to reunite with Wato
someone else pointed this out in a comment but at one point you can see wato pause the game, and the whole world pauses meaning it's a singleplayer world meaning ken isn't out there
19:30 Minecraft is such a great cosmic horror game. Like oh my f*cking god. Edit 1. 29:24 this is such ominous, like a putrid dream, tainted by illusions…

Q: What are the end barrens?
A: A subbiome of the end where end cities do not spawn, and all that spawns there is enderman.
Q: Was this all done in survival without cheats?
A: Yes* I had to use a hacked client, and a mod that yelled at me if a wandering trader spawned, but other than that, yes. I cannot speak for Wifies, as we had to do special stuff to give his character the right feel, but I did everything in survival, never was cheats enabled.
Q: This video is boring.
A: Not a question, but I just wanted to create an interesting video that highlights a task that would otherwise be a 45 second short.
Q: How long did this take
A: I never slept in the game so 20x100, 20000/60=Hours I played
Q: Will you do this again?
A: I honestly just wanted to do End Barrens since it is the hardest challenge.
Q: Can’t you just dig deep down and let water flow over lava?
A: Yep. But that wouldn’t be as fun now would it… Check my RUclips shorts, I satire this.
Q: Shaders?
A: Hysteria with high saturation
Q: How make world?
A: World Type: Single Biome, Select: End Barrens

Did you not record, and have to use a mod to imitate your actions or something?
can we get a link to the mod you used and maybe a link to the client / instructions on how to do this ourselves?

Not to overstate my feelings, but I really think this is a cultural horror masterpiece. It takes a good amount of both minecraft understanding and RUclips understanding to know what feels so wrong but it Is horror and goddamn this is beautifully done
I agree with u 100%
its NOT that scary bro 😭
Totally agreed. That haunting feeling of being stuck in an empty world was captured perfectly here. It's like some kind of classical depiction of hell.
Spoilers:
Actually shook when Kenadian never came back.
Thought he was in adventure mode at first lol
This video is just very thought provoking for some reason.)
And the editing style?? Absolutely chef's kiss. Never thought I'd come out of this video with tears in my eyes but damn!! Good job!! Storytelling is on fleek!! I wish I had the vocabulary to convey how much I love this video but the best I can do is list off the moments I liked the most!! Props to everyone involved in the video, honestly, the voicework was perfect. This is definitely something to be proud of!!

@@Wato-1876 mad respect
I got totally taken by surprise by the Wifies-hallucination-reveal X)
Also mad respect for having played until the end of the hundreds of days, it must have been very long :')
Nice video :D
I leave slight hints at it if you go back in the footage. He thought of a few on the spot.
He never shows up in the non-player cameras
So its like a neverending cycle in a way
loved every second of this the vibes, showcasing minecraft knowledge expertise from time to time, the story, the editing, the fact its literally a hundred days, gj
I mean, with the Nether being a goal of something lively to get to is just ironic and sad.
i was watching this for entire night in one sitting. just finished it. how to stop crying.
Pretty short night.

spoilers for later in the video!
Amazing work!!!!
thank you, i really wanted to deceive people in a good way like that honestly
The fact that it visibly started getting sunnier when Wifies appeared
ONESHOT PFP!!!!!
this was amazing. the landscape being so alien yet familiar. the emotional performance and the editing just highlighting the monotony yet inevitable decay of the world, and what one could do to work against the entropy. thoroughly enjoyed watching the whole 2 and a half hours of the video
it's really hard to put into words how incredible this video was. i watch a lot of minecraft content and i don't think anything i've watched up to this point has affected me as much as this. there's something about this that invokes an incredible sense of...dread, or rot, or something like that. you portrayed the feeling of wasting away so viscerally it's incredible, the sensation of watching time move as nothing around you changes and you are left in your own loneliness and grief. i had a pretty emotional reaction to the whole thing lol, i didn't expect to cry as much as i did. and i really loved how it felt so freakin' long, like it was 100 real life days instead of the 33 or so hours that 100 minecraft days is. it made it feel that much more sad.
i kept joking with my friends that if this was some french existentialist play written in the mid-1900s that people would be studying it in college classes, but seriously, there is so much to take away from this that i don't think it's much of a joke anymore. the human experience of loneliness, depression, of feeling stuck and being unable to do anything but pray for something in your life to change, there is *so much* in here and i find that incredible. numerous essays on completely different topics could be written about this. genuinely, thank you (and all the people involved) for making this.
This is amazing, it mixes liminal and spacial horror with this is knowing that there isn't anything to fear,
to know that there might be nothing ti gain and everything is meaningless, amazing
This kinda encapsulated the feeling I have when one of my online friends deleted their ACC and likely died, why do I care about them why did I care what are they doing now are they kicking around now. What is the point of life if every acomblishment gets eroded by the passing of time...

1:49:51
A new player (Wifies) stands on spawn. He wasn't there before the cut and the time that was cut seem to have only lasted seconds. How did he get there in that timespan?
1:52:59
He is able to determine how the banners were procured. Could this just be Wifies being knowledgeable in Minecraft or could it be something else?
1:57:05
"...maybe when you finally get out of here and best the Ender Dragon..."
He is able to determine that Wato wants to beat the game. This could just be Wifies asuming that what Wato's doing is part of a 100-Day Challenge, which is very easily deduceable. Or....... something else yet again."
1:57:31
Wifies talks about the lonely stars of Minecraft, indirectly talking about the situation Wato has been in for more than 50 days.
2:00:25
"Oh right. Ken made the other one, right?"
Prior to this interaction, Wato never said anything about Ken to Wifies, not even his name.
2:04:12
"Grass is normal, but..... this doesn't feel normal."
He shares the same sentiment Wato has with the grass. This could just be him naturally feeling the oddity and uncanny world he is in. Or it could be more than that.
2:05:47
He refuses to build a tree with Wato. He said he should just "leave it to the professionals", but is he telling the truth?
2:06:17
Wifies somehow crossed the water before Wato finished the dirt bridge. How did he do that? Even Wato himself was temporarily baffled by this.
2:13:18
"It's like the world has a mind of its own."
Wifies, yet again, shares a sentiment Wato agreed with.
2:14:32
"What happened to Ken?"
Wifies asks the question seemingly out of nowhere. There was no buildup, no subtle transition, nothing. Is he trying to make Wato's mind focus on Ken and what could've happened to him?
2:17:37
He was about to ask Wato something, but then he declined himself and laughed it off. What was he about to ask? Could it be about Ken? The time Wato had with Ken? The good times? The better times?
2:19:02
Wifies : "Do you think that the endermen think that you are griefing the world?"
Wato : "I choose to not think about that.'
Wifies : "Me too."
Wifies just arrived in this world a few moments ago and in those moments, he had never broke or placed any block nor any item. He hasn't been griefing the world. What did he mean by saying "me too"? Why did he agree with Wato?
2:19:21
Wifies yet again appearing in an impossible manner. Just like last time, Wato was briefly baffled before rationalizing his presence there. Even more baffling is that when Wato goes in the tower to get to Wifies...... the stairs weren't there and the floor was covered up. Wifies couldn't have stood where he stood, so how did he do that?"
2:20:20
Wifies now stands on top of Wato and Ken's Tower without any sign of him ever jumping out Wato's Dirt Hotel. Something is definitely off about him.
2:22:50
"You wanna put it that way?"
Wifies asked this ominous question after Wato stared that Wifies is proof that he isn't alone and that life is good. What did he mean by this? Could he be referring to how hellish his life has been and still is? Or could it refer to him always being alone, even now with Wifies beside him?
2:23:43
The truth crashes down on Wato. Wifies is not, and has never been, real.
dang, nice notes
I think he was going to ask, "Do you think about me?" to go with the conversation on memories.
Such a good video, this made me emotional, thank you so much.
Very well-done!

what a beautiful example of a "liminal" area.
there are arguments for either side of liminal areas: the ones that feel surreal, in their basic definitions, that people *should* be in, but not even the barest of life is seen.
it's a beautiful, empty, plastic plains. the grass is vibrant and the sky is dull, bright blue, perfect. the water looks shiny and clean with these shaders as well.
for the other side, which i don't know the proper term for, 'tiktok liminal', the idea of a liminal space that isn't liminal in a classic definition, moreso gently captures the feeling of it. an empty plains isn't a new idea, and is even seen as comforting to people. this is a beautiful area with the shaders, and gives a weird nostalgia that some people associate with it. even if there's no actual nostalgia.
this comment is a jumble but i *really* like how this place starts out looking.
i like the silent moments they really emphasize how absolutely nothing the world, filled only with conversation or your own voice. Reading the comments it turns more horror? @@Batsrcool7 don’t worry, it isn’t an ARG, just enjoy! :D

54:00 when i tell you i was SCREAMING 'bucket! Bucket! All you need is a bucket!'
hey he's not just a milk bucket, hes also a potion of invis
And 2 leads
Realistically, the milk bucket is more important as the milk can be drank, and you can use the now empty bucket to make a nether portal
he's also an emerald, if you have experimental trading enabled
in end barrens you can sell a water bottle, water bucket, or milk bucket to him
and you can use the emerald to get eight logs with experimental trading (saplings cost five emeralds)
but it's probably more worth it to just go to the nether
GOD this needs so much more attention. i stayed up all night to examine this (2 days of no sleep and still going strong unfortunately but it was SO worth it to take in this art !!)
Also I love that there's no music, it forces you to focus on the fact that it is infact barren. there's nothing there except endermen, dirt, and your own hands. like the conversations suddenly become very sad and desolate. the constant sound of teleporting endermen also makes it slightly worse (in a good way)
I can’t help but think I’m missing out on some joke is literally two hours of building dirt. Is there something I’m missing
Nevermind this is a waaaaay different kind of challenge than I thought.
in first twenty(-ish?) minutes i get so much homoeroticism, you can't even believe it
then i was truly immersed. beautiful work.
for example, when you said "flammable" i just jumped on my bed. i almost yelled on my screen question, why you didn't created portal without bucket, you need to just direct water to lava with blocks. oh, i really have hard time with it. nice work.

this is genuinely beautiful .

3: go to a lava source underground and make a nether portal frame
4: place the banner down next to the portal and near the lava for it to catch fire and light the portal.
5: the rest is self explainatory.
The first sunset of the video reminded me of the ending of Time Machine minus the crabs. The emptiness and dread were threateningly loud...
This is beautiful dude, I don't even know what to say. I didn't know what I expected clicking on this video but it definitely wasn't this lol
Genuinely teared up at the reveal with Wifies near the end there, and I don't know how much of the symbolism/metaphors that I picked up on were intended but they hit hard. If you ever decide to make more videos like this in the future I will be seated!!
not enough people have seen this piece of genius
I hope more do someday…
this video was the definition of depression.
great job
Continuing to go on with no visible hope in the horizon. I really like this video. It means something to me. Both for myself and multiple other people I know. Thank You.
dang the realisation at 2:23:55 really hit hard. fantastic video
What happened spoil me!, im not patient enough to watch the whole video to get tp the good stuff
55:10 NAH BRUH i unironically had just started playing ragtime as soon as you said this and it made me laugh so much
good lord, watching this video felt like a mental journey. you deserve way more recognition, the editing, commentary and just overall vibe was top notch. cheers man
This feels like some liminal horror which is super cool!! It’s nostalgic in a way 🌾🖼️
@@abisdeon318 i’m glad you enjoyed, it took me a while to make and it was a ton of time and effort. Nostalgia- I haven’t heard of much-but it makes sense as early Minecraft felt… barren
Loved this vid usually minecraft vids are loud and obnoxious or quiet and boring this is quiet and calm while being entertaining this feels like some shit i would find at 2am on a stretchy free streaming google website
Its a really good vid 👌
endermen are, like, a really good way to visualise entropy ive realised :P
Very true, everything scatters
Just finished the whole video, I was not expecting to watch this fully when starting, but it had me captivated the whole time! It's such an interesting way to tell a story naturally! There's many messages you could take from this story, it's rather beautiful. The urge to create, the futility and impermanence of existence, the perseverance of humanity, the need for connection.
I hope Kenadian is okay.
The amount of beef he has with the trader is insane
took like 10 days to start talking like sephiroth to minecraft mobs
This is genuinely probably the best video i've seen on youtube yet. Incredible work, honestly. Beyond words.
OH MY GOD im gonna ??? this was crazy good bro 😭 im gonna explode /pos crazy plot twist………,.,.,.,.
random fact i was like chatting w/ my friends while watching this video and i kept yapping about this video and i think my friends are now sick of me! uhhhhhhhh yay!
this impressed me deeply and gave me some inspiration. Nice philosophy, dialogues, producing and even some storytelling. Usually I don’t comment, hah. Took me near three day to watch with my attention problems, but worth it
More than 2 hours of joy ahead of me! Thank you Wato ❤
Amazing video. Things seemed and felt impossible for the longest time, but you proved it wrong. I never would have thought about getting the bucket from the wandering trader. I can't help but wonder-- what happened to Ken?
How I imagined it was that Ken logged after reaching half a bar of hunger, knowing he can’t go on without starving to death while not wanting to respawn and have to reunite with Wato
someone else pointed this out in a comment
but at one point you can see wato pause the game, and the whole world pauses
meaning it's a singleplayer world
meaning ken isn't out there
god i love how this is edited it feels so reminiscent of old minecraft youtube
Stars, this was beautiful! I love the way that time is represented, as well as eeriness of alone-ness and how it affects you throughout the video
The editing, sound, camera angles... It all really captures the liminal atmosphere
19:30 Minecraft is such a great cosmic horror game. Like oh my f*cking god.
Edit 1. 29:24 this is such ominous, like a putrid dream, tainted by illusions…
