A true classic. The first great Sesto before so many. And this performance is surprisingly "modern", with a brisk tempo and some appoggiaturas here and there; the orchestra is just as immaculate as La Berganza.
These masterclasses were such a great experience for me!!! Unfortunatelly I could be there only 1 day (but THANKS for this one day!!) She´ll be in Warsaw also next year, so I´m looking forward to this. So, I´ll be there surely as long as Teresa
I adore Her singing and I was very lucky to attend Her masteclasses in Warsaw last year. Yet, this video made me think about how her technique was changing. Always beautiful sound and unique timbre and lightness, but here she doesn't seem concentrated (maybe nervous a bit?) and she does some strange things with her mouth singing coloraturas. All this summed up is quite comforting I must say :) Even the greatest learn all their life. Do you know how old she was when the video was made?
Those ‘strange faces’ she’s making during the coloratura section helps her get the notes out. It’s an actual technique! She’s up at the top of her range an the mouth shapes help her sing her highest notes.
you prolly dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf for the last few months =)
the direction is so to say "wooden", hard. In Mozart more than with every other author the conductor must love the music he/she's playing and show it with a continuous exchange with the singer/s This does not sound very technical, I'm sorry, just try imagine poetry read by a schoolchild and the same read by a sensitive actor/ress: both read the same words without mistakes but one gives you emotion, the other doesn't
@MrFpam I am not careless at all, I really consider Mrs. Berganza one of the finest singers of any time... but if you prefer that soul-less doll of Bartoli, well, it's your business, :)
@Barbapippo I am a great admirer of Berganza, a very fine singer and one of the finest mezzos. But I wish you wouldn't be so careless with superlatives. There are many fine mezzosopranos and, for example, Cecilia Bartoli sings this better, in my opinion. Anyway these kind of comments and comparisons are not very helpful as it's just a matter of taste!
Frank Pam You have just said it. There are many fine mezzos, even, I would add, a few fine mezzo coloraturas. But there is only one "best" -- by definition. And, in my critical opinion, Berganza was it. I have yet to hear her equal even today.
I don't agree. I think she's correct, including the expression. I think the problem is the conductor. I think he spoils it, with no clear sense of mesure.
Can't love this aria. Even Ms Berganza, with all her class, sense of style, spotless technique can't make me. Perhaps she was also too busy singing on her own fighting an uninspired conductor (in Mozart the conductor is important!)
Magnificent Teresa Berganza ❤👏👏

Ho scoperto la berganza per casualità, una voce meravigliosa che attrae l'ascoltatore. La adoro
A marvellous voice - I must get my old Berganza LPs out and listend to more.

FANTASTICA!!!!
MARAVILLOSA!!!!
But yes! Teresa Berganza has a charm I can't really resist.
The best mezzo. Period. You FEEL everything. The closest thing to divine.
I've just attended in her masterclasses, although just as a listener... she's amazing, amazing, amazing! I

32ans.

Teresa´s son said me that they will come to Warsaw also next year, so I believe it´s true :) :) :)
stupenda!!!!!!
This was taped in 1967, when she was 32 years old. Beautiful, but I think that her studio recordings (1967, 1978) of this aria are better,
she's not "the best spanish mezzosoprano", she's the best in the world, :)

@Rex Brandon Yea, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)

magnifica Teresa?!!
UNICA !! JORGE MONCAGATTI T. COLON BUENOS AIRES.
Can someone tell me the story about the 1992 concert in Madrid?
is it sure that she will be there?? i heard about it but it was still "we hope that...."

Dzisiaj takie wykonanie uznane by było za niewyraźne, bez emocji, afektu i energii

Идеальный Моцартовский голос.
Léon Badi, clarinette
Soprano .

Qué le ha pasado en la segunda vuelta de la coloratura??
ok
Nice of Berganza, but the clarinetist rushes!
Can't love this aria. Even Ms Berganza, with all her class, sense of style, spotless technique can't make me. Perhaps she was also too busy singing on her own fighting an uninspired conductor (in Mozart the conductor is important!)
idraote Listen to it on the recording of the whole Tito. Then you will ADORE this aria.
Speaking of world's greatest mezzosoprano I'm gonna throw in the name 'Joyce DiDonato'.....
+Clara Oh, there are so many; Cecilia Bartoli, Vesselina Kasarova to mention others.
There's no point. From Teresa to Joyce, there too many years of technical evolution. And bartoli is peculiar
If I hadn't just now died, I could do.
The clarinetist doesn't know which way up is.
It was nice but this certainly isn´t the best interpretation in vocal terms. There are others that sing this better than her. Though, very nice.
Artista assolutamente sopravvalutata. A tratti leziosa, a tratti stimbrata, a tratti stiracchiata. Interpretazione insipida.
Плохо , прбитый голос, некрасиво
