Great momento! How wonderful to hear this aria NOT over-embellished, yet her voice is solid as a rock from low G# to high B. A perfect Rosina voice (as her both recordings of the complete opera prove). Bonynge is conducting here. Thanks for posting all your great videos. Your collection is truly amazing!

I also was lucky enough to get some seats to see her as Carmen (opera same title, Carmen) in Paris let's say in the 70' something (1976 or a bit later) ! Great performance !

2:11 Si cierras los ojos en las notas mas bajas, imaginas que canta un hombre. Pero luego vuelve a esos agudos brillantes de vibrato y de vuelta a mujer.

Better listen to singers with fully developed chest voices.

Which production (and year of production) is this Barbiere? I wonder if it's a carryover from the Old Met?

Never mind, I researched the answer to my own question! It's the 1954 Eugene Berman production!

Astonishing how few performances she sang with the Met. - 15 performances. Just a run each of BARBIERE and NOZZE in '67 and '68 and then nada mas. Did the size of the new Met just not allow her to be heard at her best? Or was it her decision to sing elsewhere?

I really don’t know! It’s not matter the size of the Met for sure!! There singers with much smaller voice than Berganza’s and they made career at the MET! Maybe it was personal decision…or with the Bing?

Her coloratura is magnificent, very precise. Few singers achieve a rapid passage of notes with such precision and clarity. And good chest voice too. Here is another great black and white recording: ruclips.net/video/-kjfYjqw19E/видео.html
